As she examined the site of devastation, her remaining soldiers looked on in fear. As Commander of the royal guard, she could not show that she shared their fear in full. She had to appear brave so that her soldiers would not lose faith and fall away. One of her soldiers came up to her,
“Commander, I have my report ready” he said to her.
“Proceed” she responded.
“We have examined the bodies and the scene. The soldiers that have been killed were all in excellent health and had no visible injuries of any kind. I know little to nothing of magic, but I found a message written on one of the walls, in what appears to be the ancient language of magic” He paused, allowing the Commander to think of what he had just told her.
“Show me the Message that you found” she answered after spending a few minutes in thought. The soldier took her to the message. It was written in the ancient language of magic, but she used to be a part of the thief clan, so she knew the ancient language. She looked at the message and realized what it meant. She would have to bring her identity to light. She knew it would bring mistrust and skepticism, but it was for the good of everything she fought for.
“What does it say Commander?” asked the soldier that stood by her side. She turned to face him
“It means that I need to see the king and queen. Please send a message to the palace at once informing the king that I will be coming as soon as possible.”
The soldier was shocked but turned and ordered one of his servants to send the message right away. The servant came up with a letter asking for him to confirm the desired message. After quickly confirming the letter, he asked the servant felt okay
“You are wearing a cloak, and your voice is off. Should I send someone else? It will be no problem” but the servant assured him that he was well and quickly hurried off. “I’m sorry about that commander,” said the soldier.

“Have him followed” The Commander ordered. “There is something about him that doesn’t add up”
The soldier, at this point couldn’t resist asking “Commander I will, of course follow your orders, but if you could, please tell me what the writing on the wall said” The soldier half expected her to refuse, because he was not immediate to respond to her command. But instead, she told him to follow her.
They went back to where the royal guard had its headquarters stationed in that city and entered a room where there were no others. The soldier waited patiently.
“That writing was a threat” she told him
“Well, if it is a threat, then we should inform the citizens”he replied.
She shook her head, “I wasn’t finished. The writing was a threat to me”
The soldier was shocked and confused. Unsure what to say,he just waited for her to continue.
“What I tell you next must be kept between us until I reveal it”
Still shocked and growing more confused, he only nodded his head.
“I have a dark past that I’m not proud of, and unfortunately, that past involved the thief clan. They killed my family but saw something in me and took me in. They raised me, taught me how to fight, and read the ancient language to me. There I learned my forbidden name. I left them, and they have sought to destroy me ever since”
The soldier seemed to have found his voice. “But what does this have to do with the king and queen?” he asked.
“It has nothing to do with them. The Thief clan are a people of revenge. I am simply going to inform the king and queen that I will be going into hiding. The message on the wall said word for word, “To the one who knows no loyalty. A young woman of 18. With hair of golden blond and light green eyes, full of hope. Skin white like a night elf. We killed your family, but we gave you a chance. You betrayed us, and now you will pay the price. We found you Angel’s Daughter. There is nowhere left to hide” -Thief Clan.
No longer confused, the soldier said, “Okay Angel’s Daughter, I will take over command until your return, but please be careful. You are the commander on this side of the earth. I salute you” The soldier saluted Angels Daughter and she saluted him.
“Until we meet again, I leave the royal guard at your command” Angels Daughter left the room to gather supplies. For after she reported her situation to the king, she was going into hiding. She looked off into the setting sun and tried to feel at peace, but all she felt was fear. Fear that she wouldn’t succeed, fear that she would be caught, fear that the one she had fought for months, would in the end bring her to her knees.
