74. Jenny

Jenny checked to see if her mommy was ready to connect again, but she sadly wasn’t yet.

Mommy got tired really quickly and Jenny didn’t want to hurt her, so she decided to check again in another hour or so. Mommy wasn’t as good at superhero stuff as Jenny, so they could only connect a little bit every few hours. So far they hadn’t said any words to each other, but when they connected, it felt like Jenny was getting a huge emotional hug and that felt super good.

It felt way less lonely now that Mommy was here too. Jenny still wondered why mister Chuck hadn’t told her about it, but she would just ask him next time he visited. It was probably some dumb reason like him being busy and forgetting. Adults forgot all kinds of stuff because they were always busy. Jenny nodded to herself, that made lots of sense.

Jenny hummed a happy tune to herself and played with Greenie. Right now, greenie was dancing around as a baseball-sized, silver-green, bumble bee with a big butt. It was one of Jenny’s favorite forms for Greenie since it looked so silly. She wasn’t able to make greenie grow any bigger than a baseball unless she let her mind go inside of it, but then she could only turn into things that she’d eaten. Jenny asked Mister Chuck to bring her a hippo, but so far she’d only gotten to eat bugs.

Jenny felt a Gilbert walk nearby and perked up. She hadn’t felt anyone nearby other than Mommy in hours, so she focused in on Gilbert to try and connect to him. He felt super scared and worried, but Jenny wasn’t sure why.

“I bet he would feel better if we played with him, right Greenie?” Jenny said.

Greenie nodded in full support of the idea.

Jennie nodded back and then took control of the scared Gilbert.

  “Come here,” Jenny said.

Gilbert quickly headed in Jenny’s direction and in minutes was in the same room as her.

“Yay,” She said and clapped her hands excitedly, “Don’t be afraid Mister Gilbert. Me and Greenie will cheer you up.”

Jenny let go of Gilbert, so he could respond.

Gilbert’s eyes went wide and he looked around in a panic, “Please, I’m running out of time. If I don’t hurry, I’ll..”

Gilbert tried to run away, but Jenny took control of him and brought him back to her.

“It’s okay Mister Gilbert,” Jenny tried her best to be comforting. She thought of what Mommy would say. “If you need to talk, I’m here for you.”

Greenie nodded in a comforting way.

She let go of Gilbert so he could play with them, but he tried to run away again, so she took control and stopped him.

Gilbert was even more scared than before and Jenny couldn’t figure out why. Was he scared of her? No way, she was just a little girl. “Are you scared of Greenie?”

  Jennie let Gilbert go.

“Please! Let me go! I need to hurry,” Gilbert begged before running away again.

Jenny took control of Gilbert and brought him back to her, “It’s okay, Mister Gilbert. Greenie is a friend. He’s nice and fun.”

Gilbert started to feel weird and Jenny felt her control on him fading away for some reason.

“Please,” Gilbert groaned out through clenched teeth.

Jenny felt something snap in Mister Gilbert, and his brain started to feel weird. It was like his brain started to split so half was a Greenie in his head and the other half was his brain, but the brain parts that were split into Mister Gilbert were being eaten by the Greenie parts.

Jenny’s mental grip was completely blasted away from Mister Gilbert and his eyes bulged before the greenie inside of him ate him faster than Jenny could react.

A new Greenie plopped to the floor where Mister Gilbert used to be standing. It ate mister Gilbert. Was that what he was scared of? He had a Greenie inside of him and it was trying to eat him.

Jenny’s eyes went wide as she stared at the two Greenies she had within feet of her. What if they tried to eat her next?

“Bad Greenie Two!” Jenny Said, “It’s not nice to eat people.”

Greenie Two didn’t move. Jenny poked it with a finger, but nothing happened, so she picked it up and felt some kind of connection to it. Not like the connection with her Mommy, but closer to the connection with the first Greenie. She tried to connect to it and it worked.

Greenie Two moved on its own with a jiggle and Jenny screamed in surprise, dropping Greenie Two in the process.

She stared with even wider eyes than before as Greenie Two kept wiggling, “Mister Gilbert? Are you still in there?”
