“Any problems, Lizzy?”
Lizzy says “Nope. It’s been boring since you left. How was your date?”
Myria says “It was great! I had a ton of fun!”
“Where are the others?”
Lizzy says “Leylisha is napping in the carriage, she took the night watch. Koko is around somewhere, probably scouting or spying on the royals.”
“That’s fine. Oh, Myria, do you want to deal with that?”
Myria says “With what?”
In answer, I point off to the left where a monster is shaking itself free of the sand. Myria is off like a shot and she reaches the thing before the soldiers guarding the caravan even notice it. She deals with it before any of them can reach her and within a couple of minutes is back at my side.
“You really have gotten stronger.”
Myria says “Hearing that makes me so happy! Although, it wasn’t much of a challenge. It would have been more fun if it was stronger.”
“Yeah, finding strong opponents keeps getting harder and harder. I was hoping this escort trip would be more dangerous.”
Myria says “Don’t jinx it! The trip isn’t even halfway over!”
“Maybe I want to jinx it. If a couple of hostile armies show up I might be able to get my last level up.”
Myria says “I don’t think that is how a jinx works. If you are saying it while hoping for it to happen I think that cancels it out.”
Lizzy says “That doesn’t matter. Ash will find trouble whether he is jinxed or not.”
“Hopefully! Otherwise this is going to be a really boring trip. I don’t know if I can deal with all of the politics without killing something along the way.”
Myria and Lizzy just laugh at me, but I can’t really blame them because they don’t realize I am serious. Queen Mavel isn’t so bad, but having to deal with Gremshow makes me want to kill things. What’s worse is that we still have two more kings to pick up and then we have to travel to the Magic Kingdom.
If the two other kings are anything like Gremshow, I am definitely going to kill someone. I am going to hope that the remaining two are more like Mavel, but I doubt I will be that lucky. I will just have to hope that Amn can keep them in line and away from me if needed.
I won’t need to worry about that until after we cross the desert, so I put it aside for now. It should take today and most of tomorrow to cross the desert from what Amn’s map showed. After that, it should be another two days or so to the capital of the third kingdom.
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
The problem is that the capital of the last kingdom is about a week’s travel from there. Then we have about two weeks before we reach the Magic Kingdom, so around four weeks in total. That is a lot of wasted time in my opinion, I am going to need to find things to do.
First things first, I need to figure out what I am going to do with the new carriage. Do I want to make it a mobile home, or just make it a really nice carriage? If I go with the second option, then I will also need to make a portable cabin to go along with it.
I made sure to get enough materials for either option, but I am leaning towards the second. After all, I plan to link the carriage to Lizzy, she will be the one keeping it from now on. However, she isn’t always with me, so I think a portable cabin is a better idea.
It can serve the purpose that I originally built the castle for, but it won’t have a spirit. At least not until I have discussed it with Jarvis first to make sure he doesn’t get jealous. I think about it for a while, but I can’t think of any better option so that is what I am going to do.
Of course, I won’t start working on it while we are moving, that just isn’t practical. As I am thinking about how I want to build the carriage, the word gets passed that we are stopping for lunch. As soon as the carriage stops, Leylisha comes out to join us and Koko appears when I start serving the food.
We all eat together and when we get back on the road I ride inside the carriage. Myria and Leylisha are riding up top chatting with Lizzy and Koko has disappeared again. Once we are moving, I decide it is time to do something I am really not looking forward to.
I take my pouch off my belt and pull out the new bag of holding, then I transfer all the new materials to it. Then, I take the pouch, turn it upside down, and order it to empty everything out. Almost instantly, the window up by the driver’s seat opens and Myria sticks her head in.
Myria says “Lizzy says the carriage suddenly got heavier. What are you doing?”
“I dumped out my pouch. I ran out of space way sooner than I expected to. That means there is stuff I have forgotten about and I need to clean some stuff out.”
Myria says “Oh, okay. Lizzy says don’t throw out her boars?”
“I forgot about those! Is that what was taking up all the space? Do me a favor, grab Lizzy’s pouch so I can throw them in there.”
Myria grumbles a bit, but she disappears for a minute and then hands me Lizzy’s pouch through the window. I quickly pick the boars out of the pile and put them in Lizzy’s pouch along with any other meat I find. That reduces the pile in front of me by about a quarter, a decent start.
The next thing I find kind of pisses me off, it is the five backpacks of holding I made. I completely forgot they were in there, I could have used one of them instead of making a new one. However, since I did make the new one, I go ahead and give those five to Myria.
Myria says “What are these?”
“Extra backpacks of holding. They will go into other holding items without an issue. They will be handy if you ever need more space.”
Myria says “Didn’t you just make a new bag? Did you forget you had these?”
“Yes.”
Myria just laughs as I go back to sorting through the pile of stuff. There are a ton of demonic beast cores and demon cores that all go back into my pouch. They are being saved to feed to my angel once I have one. Speaking of, the six-wing angel core also goes straight back into my pouch.
Next, I pick out all the tools for my various crafts that I made and put them back in the pouch. I find a bunch of empty wooden casks and it takes me a few minutes to remember why I had them. They were from when I was hauling water from the spring to feed to the tree.
They are completely normal and useless, so I open the door and throw them out into the desert. I am angry at myself, not them, but it feels really good to watch them shatter on impact. Of course, Myria notices and sticks her head back in through the window to tease me.
