I really love the fact that I can gain skill levels just by watching a master at work. Even though I don’t get much chance to use my skills, it still feels good when they level up. Come to think of it, I wonder if the commander’s trial would allow me to raise my craft skills.
“Myria, when you did the trial, did you gain any skills that you already had outside? What happened with those?”
Myria says “When the trial ended the levels of the skills were combined. Why?”
“Still just trying to decide if it would be worth it to try and find the time to do the trial. I don’t have time out here to devote to my crafts, but inside the trial would be a different story.”
Myria says “I think that it would be worth it if you can manage to find the time.”
“Wait, did you gain a class and levels inside the trial? Did you keep them when the trial ended?”
Myria says “I did gain a class, but the levels were added to mine at the end. Why?”
“Because I am almost level twenty and the goddesses have told me that they don’t have the power to give me another class beyond that. I was just wondering if the trial might be a way for me to get around that. If I hit level twenty before I go in, would I keep the class I gain inside the trial?”
Myria says “I have no idea, but it sounds plausible. Maybe you should ask Yui if anyone has ever kept the class they gained inside. I’m sure she would have a record of something like that.”
“That’s a good idea. I will ask her when we get back, if I can remember to.”
Myria says “Well, if you forget, then I will just have to remind you.”
“Please do!”
Just then, Zachariah returns leading a bunch of people who are all carrying things. He quickly cleans off his desk and the suits get piled up onto it with the materials on the floor next to it. Once everything is put down the extra people leave and just Zachariah is left holding a single suit.
Zachariah says “Here, this one is for you. It is probably the best suit on the entire continent. It is just a thank you, I will still pay for the enchantment of the other suits. I will just add it to your account.”
“Sure, that works.”
Zachariah says “I know you need to leave soon. How many do you think you can enchant before you leave?”
“Well, maybe all of them. Lately, I have been working on a way to enchant multiple items at once. Since they all need to be enchanted the same, I am going to attempt to do all of them at once.”

Zachariah says “Is that really possible? I’ve never heard of anyone doing anything like that before!”
“I’ve succeeded with small groups of items. This will be my first attempt with this many at once, but I am fairly confident.”
Zachariah says “Is it alright if I watch?”
“Sure, but you won’t see much since you aren’t a mage.”
I release my mana over the suits and keep it up until they are all filled equally. My recent use of a spell to modify enchantments remotely comes in handy for this idea. Rather than enchanting them all individually, I plan to use a spell to enchant them all.
The reason I am filling them with mana first is to keep the mana cost of the spell down. If I had to fuel them all at once it would be a huge drain and it would make the spell harder to cast. This way, the spell is actually fairly easy to cast, but that is mainly because the enchantments are simple.
The spell is actually enchanting them one by one, just at a far higher speed than I could do manually. The spell enchants all of the suits in the amount of time that it would take for me to enchant five of them. It is basically the same as using a machine compared to hand crafting something.
Once the spell is complete, I start going through the suits and checking the enchantments. The suits are made of three pieces, pants, shirt, and jacket, but they are linked by the enchantments. There are no shoes, but once the suit is worn the enchantments will allow shoes to be created.
As I am checking them, I explain this to Zachariah and make sure he knows that they aren’t interchangeable. If the suits get mixed up, the enchantments will not work until the matching items are worn. I am glad to see that all of the suits are properly enchanted and they are all identical.
This is going to make things much easier in the future when I need to make a bunch of something. For instance, if I need more obelisks when I get back, I will be able to enchant piles of them at a time. With this, I could even mass produce enchanted items to sell if I need to.
Zachariah says “They are all done? Just like that? That’s amazing! You really are the greatest enchanter in the world!”
“Maybe currently, but I still have some things to learn to match those of the past. Then again, I don’t really know much about the current enchanters on the main continent. A lot of my knowledge was collected as I traveled home.”
Zachariah says “There are none with your skills, at least amongst those that I know of. There may be some hidden by the various kingdoms, I can’t be sure. Although, if there were any with your skills, I think I would have seen more magical items for sale during my career.”
“Possibly, or the kingdoms that are hiding them are hoarding what they make. Either way, it doesn’t really matter right now. It’s not like I plan to announce myself as the greatest enchanter and see who disagrees.”
Zachariah says “True enough. So, is there anything else you need before you leave?”
“Nope. Just waiting for the mason to finish his work.”
Zachariah says “Oh, he is done. He finished and left while you were enchanting the suits. The room should be ready.”
I quickly walk over and poke my head in to take a look, Zachariah is right, it is ready. The only way to tell that the door used to be there is the fact that the plaster hasn’t dried yet. So, I quickly take a platform out, place it in the room, and then say my goodbyes to Zachariah.
I gate us to where we left the caravan and as soon as we are through Myria jumps into my arms. I was planning to shift to my normal form, but since I have my wings in this form, it will work too. Carrying Myria like a princess, I take to the air and start following the road east.
I stop when we reach the border of the desert to bury another platform and then continue on. It doesn’t take much longer after that to find the caravan, they probably got a late start. I fly right over the rest of the caravan and land on the driver’s seat of our carriage.
