As I am responding to Myria, I find my golden angel armor and the sword I enchanted to shapeshift. I put them away when I started to do all my fighting in my normal form, but now I can use them again. For now, I set them aside and go back to sorting through the pile of random items.
The next thing I pull out is the jars that I made to hold essence, both the empty and full ones. Even though it was the main focus for experimenting, I forgot about it after saving Leylisha. I definitely need to go back to hunting and gathering essence as soon as I can.
The amount of Armatite I find in the pile surprises me, I don’t remember mining this much. It is only after thinking for a minute that I remember using Origin Energy to make most of it. I was planning to make a new weapon and armor for myself with it, but I never got time.
I probably have enough time now, but the angel armor is good enough that I no longer feel the need to do so. That means I can use it in the new carriage, so I put it in the bag with the other materials. If I use it, that will make this the most expensive carriage ever made, but it gives me some ideas.
Using Armatite for a normal carriage would be a waste, but I am thinking of giving it a different form. I will have to come up with a new enchantment for mass, but I think I can with my new knowledge. I am going to have to experiment a little, but that just gives me something to look forward to.
For now I go back to sorting through the pile, which is mostly random things I picked up. The dwarven axe goes back in my pouch, I may eventually find a use for it. The monocle that lets you see secrets I give to Myria, she will probably use it more than I have.
I find a few more materials that might end up being useful, but what’s left is trash. I use a little fire mana to burn it to ash and then a little wind mana to blow the ashes out the window. I put the remaining materials into the other bag and then empty my pouch back out onto the floor.
Myria says “What are you doing? I thought you just went through all of that?”
“I did, but the pouch needs to be empty for me to modify it.”
Myria says “Wasn’t that the archmage’s pouch? Can you really modify it?”
“Yes, it was, and yes, I can. I plan to improve it so that I can see what’s inside. That way, this shouldn’t happen again.”
Myria says “Wouldn’t it make more sense to work on improving your memory?”
“Yeah, but that’s not going to happen. As much as I might want to, I am not going to be able to stop myself from getting distracted.”
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
Myria says “Well, at least you are being honest with yourself. Should I be worried about explosions?”
“Nah, not when I am enchanting. My skills have improved a lot. You only need to worry when I am doing other experiments.”
Myria makes a few more comments and then leaves me to my work, so I disenchant the pouch. The only original enchantment that I plan to copy is the one to lock the pouch to my mana signature. I already have improved versions of all the other enchantments on it, so I will use them.
First I need to improve the mana capacity so that I can add the extra enchantments that I want. To do that, I take out a section of stone and start compressing it down. Once it has crystallized, I split it into four pieces, each about the size and shape of a toothpick.
I put them in each of the corners of the inside of the pouch and then add a little extra material. I use that to sew the crystals in so that they will count as part of the pouch. When I am done, the capacity of the pouch has more than tripled and I can begin enchanting it.
I start with the space creating enchantment since that has to be the foundation. I easily increase the amount of space created by around four times the original. Then I add the enchantments that will allow me to see and sort through the contents without opening the pouch.
Hopefully, that will be enough for me to keep track of what’s inside without having to dump it out again. Next, I add all of the basic enchantments to protect the pouch and keep it in good repair. However, I double up on the protection, making it as close to indestructible as I can.
Even with all of that, I haven’t used half of the available capacity yet, so I start working on a stasis enchantment. I have run into them before, mostly in the elven city, so it doesn’t take me long to figure it out. Now, if I put a hot meal inside and forget about it for a year, it will still be hot and fresh when I pull it out.
Not that I really need to worry about that since I have my food pouch, but it is still nice. I am pretty sure that with the way I did it I can put something living inside and it won’t die. However, I don’t really plan to test it out, I shouldn’t ever need to transport living things.
The one thing that I do test immediately is if it will have any effect on the stored essence. When it turns out not to, that leaves me free to try to think of what to do with the remaining capacity. There is still a lot left, I may have added a little too much, but I will think of something.
As I am thinking, I add the concealment enchantment and a complicated lock. I still haven’t come up with any ideas, so I go through what I have already done and smooth out some parts of it. I add an enchantment to the mouth of the pouch so that it is easier to fit larger objects.
I can’t think of anything else after that, so I just use the remaining capacity to increase the space created. When I am done, the available space can be compared to the inside of a semi trailer. Now that it is done, I put everything that I am keeping back into the pouch and reattach it to my belt.
I leave the materials in the other bag for now, it is just easier to keep them separate. Next I take a look at the angel armor and try to decide what I want to do with it. However, before I can decide what I want to do, there is a knock on the door of the carriage.
When I open the door I find one of Amn’s men outside, but he doesn’t say anything. Instead, he just sits on his mount staring at me with his mouth hanging wide open. It is only then that I realize the soldiers haven’t seen my new form, I just flew over them.
“What?”
Soldier says “Emperor Amn wishes to speak with you!”
“Alright.”
