We put an end to the boring talk, have some lunch, then head outside to do some swimming. After swimming for a while, I return to normal form and lay on the beach to dry off. The girls decide to do the same, but they use me as a place to stretch out and lounge.

  It doesn’t do much to help me get dry, but I can do that with a spell so I don’t mind. We relax and just chat about whatever comes to mind until it is time for dinner. We head inside and I lay out a huge selection of pizzas for everyone to eat for dinner.

  Myria says “Mercy, have you decided what your request for tonight is going to be?”

  Mercy says “No. I honestly have no idea what to ask for.”

  “That’s fine. You don’t have to use it tonight. You can save it for another time.”

  Mercy says “Thank you. I just am still getting used to being with all of you.”

  Lin says “That’s normal. Later, if you want to explore and try new things, we will help you. We have all done the same.”

  Mercy says “That might be a while. To be honest, I still find our normal activities a little overwhelming.”

  Brightfire says “That’s normal. Our activities are far from normal. Our group isn’t even close to being normal.”

  Myria says “That’s certainly true! Of course, Ash is the weirdest one of us!”

  “I won’t even try to argue that. Look at all the weird people I have attracted.”

  Lin says “Ooh, nice turn around!”

  We continue to tease and make jokes as we eat, but the avatars just watch and listen. They are obviously enjoying it though, especially since this is still new to them. I fully expect them to join in on the teasing once they are more comfortable with us.

  Things will definitely be getting more and more interesting in the future as the avatars get used to things. It will be interesting to watch and see how their personalities develop as time passes. Although, influenced by all of us, the goddesses might not like the results.

  Then again, the goddesses might benefit from some new, mortal perspectives. However, that would be way off in the future and I won’t have to worry about it unless I become a god. Thanks to the six women around me, that is actually starting to become a consideration.

  It feels weird to be thinking about having a future, I have become used to not having one. I never held it against Krenocia, she gave me more time and let me see this world. After all, I wasn’t just summoned randomly during my life, she summoned my soul after I died.

  Everything since then has been time that I wasn’t supposed to have, but now things are different. I have people I care about and that gives me a reason to look at ways to stick around longer. I’m not going to make any decisions or plans yet, but I will keep it in the back of my mind.

  When everyone is done eating I give Mercy a smile and shapeshift into my human form. My smile makes her blush, but she smiles back at me and doesn’t resist as I pick her up. As I carry her over to the bed, the other girls laugh and get up to follow us.

  We have our usual fun, but this time it isn’t as intense and we don’t go until we are exhausted. Since it is our last night, it is more about cuddling and being with each other. It is still fun, just in a different way than our normal activities, and less exhausting.

  This makes it last a lot longer as we go until everyone is tired enough to fall asleep. Before we go to sleep, I do warn the girls that I will be waking them up in the morning. I also move to the outside of the cuddle pile so that I will be able to get out of bed when I wake up.

  However, I end up not being able to fall asleep despite trying, but the girls have no problem. So, once I am sure that all of them are fully asleep, I carefully climb out of bed. I sneak outside and go back to working on enchanting the remaining obelisks.

  Thanks to Lin’s help, I know exactly how many obelisks that I need to place around the island. I actually made more than I need, but I only enchant the amount that I need currently. The others, I will enchant as normal obelisks for the network and give them to Lizzy later.

  I finish enchanting all the ones I need and then start moving around the island placing them. Lin helped me create a map, so I know exactly where every obelisk needs to be placed. Every ten obelisks create a formation, every five formations create a bigger formation.

  Those five bigger formations together form a grand formation that covers the entire island. The formations gather mana from the ocean and the air and attract it to the island. Some of the mana is fed into the obelisks to fuel them and the defenses of the island.

  The rest of the mana remains and increases the density of the mana on the island. It is a slow process, but eventually the island will become rich in mana and a paradise for any mages. That mana can also be absorbed into the obelisks if they run low in an emergency.

  Once the last obelisk is in place, I make sure that all of the formations are working properly. Then I bring down the defenses, tie them into the obelisks, and then activate the whole setup. I spend the next hour checking everything and testing it out to make sure it works properly.

  It does, it works perfectly, in fact the entire setup is working even better than I expected. There is a resonance between the enchantments, the obelisks, and the formations that I didn’t plan for. That is making everything function about ten percent better than I was expecting.

  I am fairly confident now, but I still double check to make sure there are no blind spots. The offensive part of the obelisks can hit every inch of the coast and that is just the outer layer. To make the formations, some of the obelisks had to be placed further in on the island.

  That means that even if something does somehow manage to get past the outer defenses, there are still more to deal with. They will be less effective once the formations are broken, but they will still be able to do damage. However, it would take something really powerful to be able to break through the defenses.

  Just to be sure, I set myself as an enemy and attack the defenses to see what they can do. The defenses hold against my spells and even my breath weapon, I can’t break through. At the same time, the obelisks keep blasting me with all kinds of elemental attacks.
