What little damage they manage to do is healed by the fire and lightning spells they use. Unfortunately, I couldn’t figure out a way to make the obelisks smart enough to realize when not to use spells. Still, things with my level of immunity should be extremely rare, so it shouldn’t be a problem.

  Considering it would take something stronger than me to break the defenses, I feel pretty confident. The island is now a proper fortress, or at least as much of one as I can make it. It is enough that I can let the kids come here and I won’t worry too much about them.

  Of course, that is only if they stay on the island, if they go swimming in the ocean it is a different story. I will tell them not to, but that might just encourage them to do it, it would make me want to do it. As a kid, telling me not to do something almost guaranteed that I would do it.

  Luckily, none of my kids are anything like I was as a kid, so they shouldn’t do that. Even if they do, they are capable of taking care of themselves, especially together. Come to think of it, I haven’t really sparred with the kids, maybe we should try that.

  I can probably upgrade the training room so that it can be used to spar with the kids. It will need to be stronger than it currently is so that we don’t break anything while fighting. I will also add some healing formations that will trigger if anyone takes a serious wound.

  I should probably go and do the same to the training rooms in the elven capital. I also want to make some training rooms for the army training base, but they will need more. They will also need bigger rooms so that they can train larger groups, even up to army units.

  That is going to have to wait until after I visit the dragon, I am not putting that off. It is however something that I should do as soon as I can since the longer they have it the better. I will try to do that first, after I get back from visiting the dragon, if nothing else comes up.

  It will be a good chance to see how the ogre tribe is doing, I am fairly curious about them. I could just ask for a report from Leonarr, but I would prefer to see for myself. I also need to see about recruiting more tribes to join us, there are eight total that haven’t yet.

  If I can recruit the wolf, bear, and coyote tribes then all that will be left is the five cat tribes. Once they are the only ones left who haven’t joined, the negotiations will be completely different. Five tribes working together may be strong, but it won’t match up to thirteen tribes.

  By now, word about the ogre tribe joining us should have spread to the remaining tribes. From what I have been told, that should make recruiting the other tribes much easier. I will deal with the tribes and leave Leonarr to deal with the war against the empire.

  If he needs help, I will step in, but I am pretty sure that he will be able to handle it. It might be a different story if the empire wasn’t basically in the middle of a civil war. As it is, they can’t put forth an organized resistance and I trust Leonarr to make full use of that.

  Through the network I have been able to keep up to date on how things are going. We now control about a third of the empire and we have done it without any serious casualties. Quite a few towns and cities have welcomed our forces after hanging their nobles.

  Despite all of that, the eastern and western dukes are still trying to fight each other. The northern duke has remained quiet since we beat him down, but I am sure he is plotting something. Leonarr shares my opinion and has made sure to have scouts watching for any movement.

  I trust Leonarr to have plans in place already to deal with any movements that the northern duke makes. We will also have to merge Mercy’s forces into the main army, which could cause problems. Luckily, most of them have already fought alongside beastmen so it shouldn’t be too bad.

  Bringing her kingdom into things is something that I plan to leave to her and the others. I don’t want to get pulled into that mess if I can help it, I’m really not good at politics. Unless I can scare them into behaving or kill those who annoy me, it is better to stay away from it.

  Luckily, my wives are far more patient than I am and they should be able to handle things. Out of them, I think Mercy is probably going to be the best at politics, but she has had practice. Lin can be patient, but really doesn’t like things that keep her from her magic.

  Myria isn’t even a consideration, she is just as impatient as I am and reacts in a similar way. Brightfire is better, but I am not sure how well she would do dealing with human nobles. We will probably have to find out at some point, but I want to put it off as long as possible.

  I know that if I saw a noble talk down to her, or disrespect her, I would not react well. It is not just Brightfire, any of my wives being treated like that would enrage me. It is more likely with Brightfire and Myria because nobles are prone to being racist.

  That reminds me, I need to talk to Brightfire about changing the palace guard. I want them to be the Queen’s guard, all six of them should have guards anytime they go anywhere. They probably aren’t going to like it, but I need to know that they are safe.

  With the defenses set up and tested, I head back and start enchanting the other obelisks. I eat a snack while I work, but it doesn’t take me long to finish the remaining obelisks. Once they are done and put away, I head inside and try again to get a little sleep.

  This time I actually manage to fall asleep and I sleep for a few hours, but I still wake up before dawn. It is still too early to wake the girls, they would be extremely unhappy with me. So, I lay there thinking about the future and trying to plan out everything that I need to do.

  As usual, all my plans are subject to change, but having it all planned out makes me feel better. Besides, I don’t really have anything else to do at the moment and it keeps me from getting bored. My thoughts manage to keep me distracted until the sun rises, but I still wait for another hour.

  Then, I start using some ‘special attention’ on them to wake the girls up one by one. That helps keep them from being upset at me for waking them up so early and leads to other things. Once we are done having a bit of fun, we get out of bed and sit down to eat breakfast.
