Then again, as long as there is a suitable island, I can make it into what I want it to be. I just would prefer for it to be the way I want already so I can be lazy and focus on my goals. Although, I am willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that the honeymoon goes well.
It takes me most of the day to reach the southern coast of the land bridge, but I don’t spot any drakes. I do however manage to find another good spot to leave a gate platform and get some more stone in the process. That is a good thing since I place the very last obelisk that I have once I reach the coast.
I am going to need more so that I can place them as I explore the coast and any islands I find. That reminds me, I am going to have to test the obelisks and see if they work underwater. If not, I am going to have to find another way to get the system connected to the island.
Even though it is going to be our honeymoon, I don’t want to be completely out of reach. Knowing my luck, everything that can go wrong will just as soon as I am unreachable. Considering that, it is going to take a miracle to get through the wedding and honeymoon without something happening.
I should probably see what I can do to set up contingencies before the actual wedding. There is no way I can set up enough for every contingency, but the most likely ones should be possible. Other than that, I will just have to hope that the people I have chosen to be in power can handle things.
For now, I need to decide if I want to look for drakes, or try to find those dragonfish. Since either one will give me evolution points, I may as well go with the fish first. That way I can look for a suitable island while I am at it, besides drakes are probably a lot fewer in number.
Since they are fish, I would imagine that they are fairly numerous, at least I hope so. Besides, fish should be a lot easier to hunt than drakes, even if they are dragon fish. So, with that settled I dive into the ocean and start swimming around looking for the fish or an island.
For now I stay in my normal form, I will probably have to fight something soon. Surprisingly, thanks to the tail, I can actually swim really well in this form, kind of like a crocodile. For the first while I just swim around randomly, getting used to moving in the water and having fun.

The ocean is teaming with life, but most of it stays away or hides from me, they must see me as a predator. Not that they are wrong, I am just not interested in most of them, they are too small to bother with. Although, I do chase a few of the bigger ones just for fun and to practice swimming.
Unfortunately, I eventually can’t hold my breath any longer and I have to surface to breathe. After catching my breath I decide that it is time to stop playing around and dive down to the ocean floor. Once there, I use the stone of the ocean floor to craft and enchant a small obelisk.
While it does work, the distance that it covers is less than half what it does on the surface. After thinking for a minute, I remove the enchantment and recast it using water mana. This time the area it covers with the system is almost twice what it covers on the surface.
It looks like the signal travels further through the water than it does through the air. That is nice since it means I will need to place less obelisks underwater to connect to any island I find. At least it works, that means that I won’t have to try something crazy like floating obelisks.
Now all I really have to worry about is something coming along to try and eat it. I have been thinking about how to protect the obelisks since Lizzy mentioned it. The best idea I have come up with is to enchant the network to share the damage between the obelisks.
That means that to destroy one obelisk, you would have to do enough damage to destroy all of them. That would make it much harder to destroy them, especially as more obelisks are added. However, it wouldn’t make it impossible, so I want to come up with something else as well.
The best bet would be to make them able to self-repair, but I don’t want to have to supply a source of stone. Then again, it doesn’t have to be stone, they can use earth mana to repair themselves. Since they are connected to the ground, I can just set it up so that they passively absorb and store earth mana.
That will make the area around them slightly less fertile, but it shouldn’t be too bad. Then, someone wanting to destroy them will also have to burn through all of the mana they have stored. While it still wouldn’t make them invincible, it would definitely make them really hard to destroy.
All I need to do at that point is add something that notifies the military when one is under attack. My people should be able to respond long before someone can do that amount of damage. Even with just the amount of obelisks we have already placed, I don’t know if I could even destroy them.
That should be perfect, now I just need to figure out the enchantments to add to the system. As I am distracted thinking about enchantments I almost miss the shark-like thing that tries to take a bite out of me. In fact, I don’t actually notice it, my body just moves out of reflex to dodge the attack.
The thing’s teeth just barely miss me and as it circles back to attack again I get a look at it. It looks mostly like a shark, except that its teeth are more pronounced and stick out even when its mouth is closed. Other than that, the only other thing I notice is some odd bumps all around its head.
When it comes back to bite at me again, I grab its upper and lower jaw and stop it dead. It tries to thrash around and break free, but its strength is no match for mine. Then, those odd bumps that I spotted suddenly extend out into tentacles that wrap around me.
They try to crush me, but I barely feel any pressure from them and it isn’t enough to worry me. It is a good thing that they are weak, I totally wasn’t expecting something like that. Not wanting to see what other surprises it might have for me, I channel some lightning through my claws.
