Soon after the meal, we walked back upstairs. I asked a question that been on my mind.
"What is the Understanding Piltover css? Is it just learning about Piltover?"
"Understanding Piltover is a thing used to help foreigners learn about the normal things in Piltover."
She leaned over after furtively looking around.
"Its real use is for the old people to have people to talk to and give them something to do."
She had a praise me praise me look on her face as she blurted out what seemed to be a dark secret, a trap for unsuspecting foreigners like me. I patted her head as she closed her eyes. The auburn hair became more and more frazzled as I tousled with it.
"So when does it start?"
"They start anytime from what I heard."
"What do you do normally?"
"I normally go to school but I graduated the elementary school st year. Originally, I was sted to enter the renowned hextech academy but I took a year off to travel."
She removed her head from my hand, posing with a hand on her hip and pointing at me.
"Enough about me! The css can start right after registering so let's go!"
She left like the wind, storming upstairs.
Alone now. What do I do?
I did a quick look around. There is a chair, I should quickly sit down or my legs will start to tremble. Casually and inconspicuously, I sat down before a sigh of relief left me.
Anna's family should be wealthy, so all of these hanging mps, gears on the walls and fancy decorations should not be the standard home. I wonder if this type of floor could allow me to pass through it?
I tapped my feet, as a thin but solid yer of something prevented me from going through the floor. The floor tiles were made of grey marble speckled with blue and green. An unnaturally glossy sheen covered the floor as sunlight that hit it didn't reflect onto the walls but instead sparkled.
"Were you waiting for me?"
A wide brimmed hat hit my forehead as she leaned in. From the modest grey gourd dress in the morning to a pomfy blue coat and mismatched sun hat. It was like a copy of the farmer's straw hat turned fashionable, white, with a rge blue ribbon on top.
The streets of Piltover had ample shade, broad leafed trees pnted at intervals. It was cold in the morning although sunny, as the st bits of the night's sea breeze had yet to disperse.
Without the darkness covering up everything, the true appearance of the streets could be seen. Neatly pced light grey bricks lined the ground, with strange covered grates installed on the roadside. The road we just walked to was a double avenue, a line of pnts in boxes and benches in the middle.
Bakeries were in full bustle as people lined up for breakfast, settling in cafés and sitting on benches. Every once in a while a pair of patrollers passed by, each holding a round bread thing, taking turns surveying and eating.
There was a great disparity in the clothes as we squeezed through the crowd. From styled jackets and blouses in the neater areas to leather suspenders and more of a working clothe type. Everyone still smelled fine and the minor traces of soot on the workers was the another indicator.
We stopped in front of a sign that looked like an art piece, every letter had some bit of tinkering on it. I vaguely made out 'Museum of Gears and Hextech'. After a brief second, we walked inside, pushing open a rge brass door. It seemed heavy, but right after we pushed, it automatically opened, slowly swinging wide.
Right away, you can see a bright shaft of light through a gss ceiling coming down. To the right was a lounge, with soft chairs interspersed with the brass chairs. To the left was a person behind a desk.
"What can I do for you today?"
The dy behind the desk smiled gently as she csped her hands. A sharp attire adorned a soft face. The part on the shoulder looked sharp enough to hurt someone walking past them. Her skin was a dark brown, just like a farmer but without any blemishes.
Anna dragged me to stand beside her. She gestured at me with both hands before grabbing a small bag she somehow fit inside the coat.
"I want to apply to the introductory css for him. Here is one silver cog."
She reached up to pce the silver coin she picked out. The desk dy chuckled slightly before taking the coin.
"For teens, the price is only sixty washers. Do you want to attend with him? If you go together the price goes down to fifty washers."
She winked at Anna. I waited by her side as she thought over this. Anna counted with her fingers, ticking off each finger before raising her head, replying.
"Okay."
The desk dy marked something behind the desk before handing us two strips of paper, expertly twisting one end to slot through a slit to create a bracelet.
"Just walk right in, these bracelets show that you're here to learn about Piltover's basic knowledge."
"Thanks.""Thank you."
She smiled before pulling onto a rope, alerting the others that people were coming.
We walked into the museum.
Right away, we could see mundane items in gss cubicles with a small piece of paper beside it. Stuff like miniature boats with prototype sail mill-1 written on the side, a picture of how brass was made using copper and zinc and how it has impacted Piltover with it's discovery.
"Newcomers huh?"
A brat walked up to us with golden hair and rugged leather clothes. He seemed younger than me, with a fir of arrogance. Raising his arms like he was showing off something important, he said with pride.
"Welcome to the introductory css. Here, you will learn about Piltover and her greatness. And umm what was I supposed to say again?"
The teen scrambled for a paper in his pockets. Anna interjected after seeing him turn out his pockets littering the floor.
"Something about things to take note of, basic knowledge?"
"Oh right! Here we will teach you about common things that we never needed to learn! Anyways, follow me in this direction."
We followed behind as he expertly navigated the corridors.
"Do you know him?"
"He's one of my cssmates from st year. His name's Ezreal. Top of the css but only fools around."
"I can hear you y'know."
We ended up in a room called [Common knickknacks]. The naming sense is weird.
