Anise grabs the reports messily, quickly getting up and teleporting to Xania who is lying on the bed on her face, kicking her legs in the air.
“My lord! What have you been doing?!” Anise shouts, the papers crumbling in her grip.
“Didn't you tell me not to work?” Xania says, covering her ears due to how noisy Anise is, getting up from bed.
“Yes but when you were doing my work, what were you doing?! How did you miss so many damn reports on this?! They are literally written in a bigger font size!” Anise continues shouting, showing the crumbled reports in her hand.
“On what?” Xania asks, continuing to cover her ears.
“This!” Anise shouts again, showing her the report as she reads it.
Report from the elf kingdom.
I am going to skip the greeting and formalities due to the importance of the situation and because I'm nearly out of ink.
The elves guarding the world tree have detected a massive fluctuation in mana, we suspect that this is caused due to the world tree creating its own heros, we are unaware how it did this and are investigating. We have also decided that there have been many fluctuations numbering around a dozen by the time this letter has been sent.
Report from the spies.
Miss Anise, we have obtained some information that the humans may be preparing for a second round of war, we have also heard some rumors, however unreliable, that a new hero has been selected.
Xania reads for a moment before lying back into bed, “So?” She asks, clearly, bothered despite Anise's concerns.
“What do you mean?! This has been one of the biggest concerns for a while! They may not have time to get as strong as the previous heroes but there could be dozens by now!” Anise continues shouting, setting the crumbled reports messily onto the bed and climbing onto Xania's back, pulling her hair as Xania ignores it.
“Anise, what's the problem? Didn't you say that I'm the strongest demon lord every last time? And the heroes barely won back then. So what if there are many more? I'm also a lot stronger since I can use divinity.” Xania says, annoying Anise further.
“My lord, can't you take this seriously?!” Anise shouts, getting annoyed as Xania shakes her head, her face still in the bed.
“Fine, you wanna ignore how seriously I'm taking this huh?” Anise says, grabbing Xania's tail too, tying her hair and tail together as Xania tries untying it, finding herself unable to do so since Anise somehow dead-knotted her hair and tail.
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
“My lord, since you won't help then I'll just go find a way to deal with it myself, it'd be a shame if I die again wouldn't it?” Anise says with her voice filled with sarcasm as Xania sighs.
*Fine… I'll follow you.” Xania relents which causes Anise to finally be satisfied as she smiles, “then let's get going my lord.” She says while waiting for Xania to get up.
“Wait Anise…” Xania says, using mana to tie a small rope around her hand.
“What is it now? Stop trying to procrastinate.” Anise asks while turning back to Xania who somehow made the situation worse by tangling her legs up in her hair and tail combo, “what the hell.” Anise sighs, trying to untangle Xania.
A while later, Anise goes up trying to help Xania with her hair and tail and focuses only on her legs and still failing as she decides to just grab Xania's scythe from her bracelet.
“Hey Anise, what are you doing with that?” Xania asks, her voice with a tinge of nervousness.
“My lord, you understand that if I don't do what I'm about to do, you're gonna be stuck like this for god knows how long since I doubt anything is strong enough to free you without damaging your hair?” Anise says while lifting the scythe up.
“Anise look, if you're still mad about dying and all that, we can resolve this in a peaceful way, just put that down okay?” Xania negotiates, trying to get Anise to stop.
Anise swings the scythe down, imbuing it with mana as the majority of Xania's hair drops to the floor in one big tied-up bundle, freeing Xania as she untangles her legs from the leftover hair, looking at herself with a mirror she materializes. Xania tries healing her hair but nothing happens due to healing magic not working on hair, something she officially learned.
“My lord, well… you don't look that bad?” Anise forces a smile on her own face, looking at Xania's very focused eyes while returning the scythe back to Xania's bracelet.
“Anise… I'm not going out like this!” Xania turns to Anise, pointing at the part with the cleanly cut-off hair.
“It's not my fault your hair is so oddly tough,” Anise mutters softly, glancing away guilty.
“Well, you could just hide it couldn't you?” Anise says while looking up, pulling a hat which looks like it was meant for the beach out of her bracelet as Xania looks over, reluctantly trying on the hat and looking at herself in the mirror again.
“See? Not that bad, now let's go to the elves to get more info on this, I heard they also have a spell for hair okay?” Anise asks in a convincing tone or an attempt at trying to sound convincing.
“Fine.” Xania burns the hair on the floor as she teleports Anise to the elf kingdom's castle, using detection magic and teleporting to the elf queen who was in the dining hall, peacefully enjoying her lunch along with a cup of tea she was drinking.
As she feels the sudden influx of mana from the teleportation, she looks up, unsurprised by their presence.
“Hey, we need to discuss the report you sent, don't we?” Anise says in a serious tone as the queen puts the cup down, facing Anise.
“Of course, have a seat,” The queen says as Anise and Xania do so, Xania's hat catching her attention but refrains from asking.
“What do you mean that heroes are being made?” Anise asks as the queen opens her mouth to speak but Xania stops her.
“Wait, before you answer her I have a more important question,” Xania says in an oddly serious tone, confusing the queen.
“What is it?” The queen asks, tilting her head confused.
“Do you have a spell to grow hair?” Xania asks, making the elf queen tilt her head further.
“indeed…. But why do you ask?” The elf queen asks with her head nearly tilted 90 degrees.
“This.” Xania lifts her hat up, turning around to show the clean cut of her hair.
“Oh.” The queen says simply.
“Well… I believe the spell is in the library?” The queen directs Xania to the spell she is looking for, her eyes not leaving Xania's hair.
“Got it, thanks.” Xania thanked the queen as she teleported to the library, leaving Anise and the queen to discuss by themselves but not before a short awkward moment of silence between the two of them.
