Chapter 52: Next Stop.
(Celia’s POV)
In a not-so-subtle way, Faith had directed me to a specific building within this oddly advanced city. She didn’t outright say that a player was in it, but it wasn’t that far of a stretch to assume such a thing.
The building was very tall, and clearly some very profitable business was headquartered here. This city was odd, as the people here seemed to treat it like nothing was off.
But, outside of the walls, the moon-bred undead roam free. But this city’s walls are very strong, clearly protected by various magics. The people living here must have skipped over the chaotic time where humans would evolve powers, and just gone straight to building up a new society…
Going invisible, I snuck inside the building. Once inside, I detected a faint bit of divinity. And going by how this usually goes… it is coming from the higher up this building, probably the top floor.
Faith: “Are you going to take the stairs?” She asked.
Celia: “Isn’t that my only option? There was no roof access.” I reply while heading to the stairs.

Faith: “Stairs are so boring…” She pouted.
Celia: “I agree.” I say with a nod.
I had to wait for someone to open the doors to the stairs, as I didn’t wish to set off any alarm bells in the player that is here in this business. Soon, someone did use the stairs, so I was able to enter it without blowing my cover.
Thankfully, the stairs where contained in one room, so I just flew up to the top of them with ease. Then came another problem… The door to this floor was locked.
Faith: “Aren’t you smart? I am sure that you can figure out how to unlock this door!” She said with a confident tone.
Celia: “I can, yes. But it might blow my cover…” I reply with an unsure tone.
Now, I didn’t see any cameras on this floor of the stairwell, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t being monitor. After all, people here in this dimension have powers and stuff.
Lock Picking Noises!
Regardless, I picked away at the lock. Said lock was very easy to defeat… Even without magic, I was able to pick it with just basic tools. This woman either has no enemies, or she is very, very confident in her ability to defend herself.
The door was well taken care of, and it made no sound when I opened it up. This floor seemed to be the office of whoever owned this business, and was mostly empty.
It did look nice, of course. But it was clear to see that this whole floor had just one use, and one use alone.
Faith: “Do you think that you’ll find another family member here?” She asked with a curious tone.
Celia: “Perhaps… but I won’t get my hopes up. Getting Nia was a fluke, the rest were very spread out. I think that finding one of my family here is… very unlikely.” I deny.
Faith: “Oh, well. I guess that we’ll just have to see.” She replied with a giggle.
Celia: “…”
