“We have waited for a thousand years. We can wait a few more. And you’re a level 11, and your stats are already almost reaching the first transcendence. You’ll become a Throne soon enough.”
“We do not ask you to accept now, only to remember this. If you wish to bring back our kind, go to the Cygislax Factory, where the mainframe of our kind will allow you to speak to the World System. And plead our cause. The World System is harsh, but it is fair.”
Sceptus-Vector’s body then started to ripple, and silver tears started to fly back toward the ceiling. It seemed it was done talking; he stabbed his massive glaive in the ground as it shrank down smaller and smaller.
It soon became a proper size for David, and once again struck his chest as his body finished turning back into the liquid silver sphere on the ceiling. Leaving only those parting words.
“This is our gift to you, Akhenamen Nimearos Harkhenna, The Unseen Truth. We shall wait for the day when we receive your signal.”
Obviously, David tried to ask more questions, but before he could, Sceptus-Vector was gone, and only his glaive remained. David was disappointed, but he knew that he couldn’t dilly-dally on missed occasions.
He used his Analyze skill, wondering what kind of weapon a level 75 Ancestor being would give.
[Enhanced Gauss Warglaive] [Epic]: One of the most well-known and feared weapons of the Forgotten War, a glaive built with its only goal being to bypass all shields, magical or otherwise. It cuts armor and magic like butter by directly disintegrating the matter with the blade’s touch.
[Effect] :
- Deal 100 + Str damage (246)
- Raise Str by ? of it’s current value (110 → 146)
- All damage bypasses magical and physical damage reduction abilities.
“Now that’s a powerful weapon. And where is the real boss? I’ll think about all that Cygilites business when I’m done farming until level 30.”
David held on to the glaive, feeling his strength rise just from holding it. Swinging it a few times while thinking to himself, he’d have to seriously look into training with it before he finally stepped toward the organ in front of him.
David wanted to talk to Syllena about all those discoveries, but his high Sight stat made him see a huge Ambusher hanging down from the ceiling, coiling his tail and preparing to strike. His camouflage was pierced by David’s gaze of truth.
Staring at the massive Prothean Ambusher that had been lying in wait above. His talk with Sceptus-Vector and the fact that he was expecting a unique boss made him forget to check the ceiling for Prothean Ambushers; if not for his high Sight stat, he might not have pierced the Ambusher’s illusion.
“I didn’t expect the final boss to be just a really big Ambusher.”
[Analyse]
Seeing Giantsbane's high HP and lethal abilities, nothing next to a being like Sceptus-Vector, but still more than able to kill David in two attacks. Of course, David could use his Data Break, but no, not this time.
It was only a question of time until the enemies he faced stopped being robots and constructs. No. He had to fight without relying on his Data Break constantly. And he remembered the promise of great loot.
David felt a bit of fear. This would be the first fight he had against a boss by himself. He didn’t know how to properly wield a glaive, but two of his stats were already transcendent. He would only be able to afford one mistake.
The second hit would be the last, and in this case, he had his [Data Break] if things really turned badly.
David swiftly pushed Sofya’s body away to keep her safe. His silver arms lifted the glaive in one and fired a [Gauss Pulse] straight at the giant Ambusher. The tail’s sharp blade was about to teach his face when a green energy shield surrounded him, deflecting the blade to his side with a loud static noise.
His [Sequential Barrier] successfully blocked the hit. However, his Gauss Pulse slammed into his opponent, causing a loud bass-like sound after it struck the attacker. Giantsbane’s body started glowing green where it was struck, the surroundings of the pulse’s target turning to dust.
The machine dropped down from above, its huge legs intending to stab the small offender, falling with a heavy thud, with one of its legs stabbing David’s body. Seeing the hit arrive, David reshaped his body and created a big hole in his chest where the leg stabbed, piercing nothing.
His body moved away once more, the liquid making his body able to morph around the Ambusher’s leg. His glaive swung and cut through the Ambusher’s leg, like cutting through butter. Making the robot start to fall forward.
Another shield appeared around David just as the Ambusher’s tail came for his side, slamming into the dimension, loud cackling sounds, green lightning bursting from the impact point between the massive green blade and the slightly transparent green shield.
The Ambusher pushed itself forward, its second front leg attacking David, trying to crush the small but very dangerous Levitar. Just as David was about to be stabbed, his hand pointed behind the Ambusher.
A Vortex Crush suddenly pulls at the Ambusher’s body, making his leg stab right in front of David’s body, pulled back by the Vortex, trying to crush its body in a single point.
The Ambusher was too big and sturdy to be crushed by the vortex, but that wasn’t David’s goal. With his enemy destabilized, he jumped. His anti-gravitational body, able to propel itself high above the ground, slightly cracks the floor under him.
His high strength, boosted by his [Huge Size], made him stronger than an adult giant. His glaive swung forward toward the Ambusher’s “human” face with a downward slash, leaving a vertical green cut from its forehead to chin, showing how sharp the Gauss Warglaive was, a weapon that cut matter itself.
As the massive tail finally freed itself from the vortex’s pull, going toward him with a quick scorpion-like thrust, David let out a [Gauss Pulse] from his other hand, sending himself flying back while attacking the already injured construct’s head.
He landed back down on the floor, sliding back from the inertia of the Gauss Pulse, stabbing his glaive into the floor to try and slow himself down, only to realise the blade would just cut through the floor too easily to slow him down properly.
“How much health remains, Syllena?”
[2048/4000]
“Thanks”
He transformed his feet into massive silvery claws, stabbing into the floor to slow his slide, and used all his strength to propel himself forward, sliding the two massive bladed arms of the Ambusher, which had used its tail as an anchor point to launch itself despite the vortex crushing its body.
And as he slid under Giantsbane’s body, he used his stab skill, morphing his unused arm into sharp blades, using [Stab] while slamming his warglaive’s blade directly into the belly of the beast. Another Gauss Pulse launched from his morphed arm, directly inside the Ambusher’s body.
The massive body lowered itself, clearly intending to crush David under its weight. David used two skills he had never used until now in succession. He first turned his Liquid Silver body into its Slayer form, his entire stat pool going to his Dex stat, bringing it to a scary 1061, bringing it to the Second Transcendent level.
His new speed made him move at a speed that David could only consider similar to the speed of sound, as he felt himself break the sound barrier in a loud booming shockwave.
Right before his now Armor-less body could take the pure energy transfer of breaking the sound barrier, he used [Nanites Transfer] to switch his Dex with his Armor, allowing his body to be able to withstand the shockwave and even take no damage from impacting the wall at the other end of the room.
Slamming into it with enough speed to leave a giant dent in it. Seeing that it had worked, David couldn’t help but start to laugh softly, which to any non-robot would have just sounded like sharp, ear-piercing shrieks coming from a broken electronic doll.
And as his body slammed into the wall, he quickly used his [Mastermind] form, bringing all his stats to his Arcana stat, and let out one final powerful Gauss Pulse.
The green ray of magi-tech let out a deep bass sound as it slammed into the Ambusher, piercing its armor and even striking the organ behind it, disintegrating both into melting green dust. Having just dealt more than 1 161 damages to the boss with this last attack.
[Giantsbane was killed by [Gauss Pulse], received 10,000 EXP]
[Congratulations on being the first person to finish the Unique Dungeon: Unknown Signal.]
[You were rewarded 5000EXP as a reward.]
[LEVEL UP!]
Having finally defeated Giantsbane, David sighed in relief and stood up, feeling his stats go back to normal with the fight now ended, everything going back to its usual place. Giantsbane’s body was slowly but surely turning into glowing green dust. David advanced toward the body and touched it, opening the loot window.
“That looks like a lot of rare loot. Let’s check them out. I wonder if I was especially lucky, or is it's the System’s help?”
David first took out the [Component]. He now only needed one from the Levitar. But with his new strength, killing him fairly would be no trouble. He was curious what kind of reward it would become.
Then came the Data Cube, as its name implied, it looked like a cube, a green cube which seemed made of crystal yet had no weight. The prothean key looked like a simple, thin metallic rectangle that could easily fit in someone’s palm.
Other than some strange holes in it, it looked like a regular metallic plate from Earth. And finally, the banner was massive, so massive in fact it seemed as tall as Giantsbane's body. David looted them all and put them in his limited inventory.
[Analyze]
[Cygilites Data Cube] [Epic]: A Prothean Data repository that contains unique spells and skills.
[Prothean Key] [Unique]: A strange metal plate of Prothean origin, which seems to be a key. But for what?
[Thormund’s Banner] [Unique]: Belonging to the ancient giant chieftain Thormund, this banner has been the target of many recovery expeditions all over the world sent by Thormunda, Thormund’s wife and a reputed Beyonder. No one until now had guessed that it was hidden in a Prothean Ruin below the gnomish city of Kork.
[Effect] : [UNAVAILABLE] [Giant Exclusive Equipment]
“Mmm..Not bad, bringing back the banner could earn me some nice reward, but it could be risky.”
“I’m still a Cygilites. I'm categorized as an enemy by the System. Don’t wanna risk it with a Beyonder until I’m certain I can escape. Can’t do anything about the key, but I feel like it's related to my second class quest.”
David lifted the cube and stared into its green surface, connecting to the cube through the system. The cube suddenly dissolved into thin air and entered David’s mind.
[Skill obtained: Cygilites Tri-Astomath’s Manipulation: A skill which allows any Cygilites to be able to summon crystalized dimensions as 3D shapes, of a simple design, each designed by the User with different abilities and effects.]
“That sounds… vague. I’ll have to experiment with it. For now, I want you to follow those instructions, Sylleba: First, you will fuse the following traits-”
[Fusing traits is possible; they grant no higher bonuses than their already existing stat raises and other effects.]
“That’s fine with me, Syllena, I just want a clearer and compact Status screen.”
[Very well, do tell us!]
“Fuse the traits : [Rare Robotic Body] / [Complete Prothean Levitar Unit] / [Prothean Tech] / [Liquid Silver] / [Anti-Gravitational Body] into one Trait named : [Rare Prothean Levitar Body].”
“On my Spellbook tab, fuse every technomage spell under one single name : [Cygilites Spellbook]. You will create a different category for every spell that could be put together when I learn more of them.”
“And lastly, try to fuse the traits : [ Steel and Soul ] / [Abominable Intelligence] / [Seen by The Color] into… what would sound great. Most seem related to my soul or mind in some way….“
[May we suggest : [Herald of the Unseen Truth] or [Enlightened Cygilite]?]
“First one sounds great, definitely a great trait name! Let’s go with that, now display the change!”
“There we go! That’s amazing, Syllena!”
[Thank you!]
I hope everyone is enjoying this chapter. If you spot any mistake do not hesitate to tell me in the comments. My main language isn't english so I'm more than eager to increase my level and better myself. Same for the System's current "appearance" do not hesitate if you dislike it and want something more simple and maybe easier to read!
Have a great day!
