Is That Called Trust?

Late Night, Outside a Villa in the US – 11 PM

Aditya's car was parked in the spacious driveway of a large villa. He and Anamika were standing outside the villa’s main door.

They had been standing there for nearly an hour.

Anamika kept her eyes fixed on the iron gate outside the villa, waiting for someone.

Meanwhile, Aditya leaned against the villa’s door, hands tucked in his pockets, silently watching her.

Taking a deep breath, Aditya finally spoke, “I think we should come back in the morning. Who knows how long they’ll take?”

Still focused on the gate, Anamika replied, “Let’s wait a little longer. Maybe they’ll show up.”

Seeing her determination, Aditya walked up to her and gently said, “Anamika… we can come early tomorrow morning.”

Looking into his eyes, Anamika spoke with quiet hope, “Just a little longer… please, just a little more.”

Tears shimmered faintly in Anamika’s eyes—as if they were saying she wasn’t ready to give up yet. She wanted to fulfill her friend’s wish.

Seeing this, Aditya placed his hand on her forehead and leaned his own forehead against hers. Gazing deep into her eyes, he softly said,

“Please… it’s really late. Let’s go home and rest. I promise—we’ll definitely meet him tomorrow morning.”

Anamika lowered her gaze, and Aditya took a step back, looking away.

He thought maybe she didn’t believe in his promise.

But then, she tugged at his sleeve like a child.

Aditya turned to look at her—her gaze was still downcast—as she asked, “We will come early tomorrow… right?”

Aditya smiled and asked, “You trust me?”

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

Anamika looked up, her eyes soft. “Then we should go home now.”

“Alright,” Aditya said, walking toward the car.

As he walked, he made a phone call.

But now, his expression was completely different—intense and terrifying, like the look Saaniya gets when someone bad mouth Anamika. A look of fierce protectiveness.

Back at the villa gate, Anamika murmured,

“I trust you now… but I don’t trust my fate.

For the first time, someone has asked something of me.

  And if I can’t fulfill it…?”

Before her thoughts could spiral further, Aditya returned with the car.

  He was smiling at her.

Looking at her, he said, “We’ll do it together. Don’t worry.

  For now, let’s go home.”

She didn’t know how or why, but Aditya’s words calmed the fear inside her heart.

And she quietly got into the car.

Scene: Aditya’s Car – Outside Their House

Some time later, the car was parked outside their home. But Aditya wasn’t getting out—because Anamika had fallen asleep.

She had slid closer to him, her head resting on his shoulder.

The way her head rested on his shoulder—it felt like she had placed all her trust in him, even if unknowingly.

  Aditya didn’t want to move.

This was his dream—a dream where Anamika could sleep peacefully on his shoulder, without fear or worry.

He wanted to become the man in her life who could promise her: not all dreams will be broken.

But he had to wake up from this dream.

  For two reasons.

First—according to him—Anamika had unknowingly rested her head on his shoulder.

And second—he was getting a call.

A call he couldn’t ignore, because it was related to making Anamika’s dream come true.

He gently lifted her head and helped her rest against the seat.

Then stepped out to take the call.

A voice on the other side said, “What you asked for is done. Mr. Rajput can’t avoid you anymore—you’ll meet him.”

Aditya replied, “Alright. I’ll be there soon. (glancing at Anamika)

Just need to finish a few things first.”

  He cut the call.

But as soon as he did—another voice chirped from behind, “Bhai (brother)! This won’t do!”

Startled, Aditya shoved his phone into his pocket. “What? What won’t do?”

Ira came closer and said teasingly, “My sister-in-law is sleeping inside the car, and instead of admiring her, you’re out here talking about work?

Is this how you plan on becoming the hero of your love story? Ignoring your sleeping heroine to take work calls?!”

Avoiding eye contact, Aditya replied, “You’re talking nonsense.”

Walking toward the passenger door, he muttered, “Stop watching those rom-coms. You start imagining things and then just say them. You should be more careful to talk about something like this to your older brother.”

Ira was about to shout back, but Aditya quickly gestured for silence.

She quieted down… when she saw what he was doing.

Aditya opened the door gently and carefully lifted Anamika in his arms.

As he walked toward the house, he smiled and whispered to Ira, “Good night.”

Ira smiled wide and was just about to say something—

But Aditya shook his head, warning her to stay quiet.

He knew how loud she could get when excited.

Ira made a pout like a little kid and waved her hand, “Good night!”

Aditya offered her a soft smile and walked inside, holding the girl who unknowingly held his entire world.

After he left, Ira took a deep breath and whispered,

  “My brother...

  Will his heart break again?

  No… not this time.

Anamika won’t hurt him. I’ll make sure she doesn’t

That… that term… what was it?

  Daydreaming? Madavad? Meditative?

Aniket bhai had said Anamika had some illness because of which she broke Aditya bhai’s heart.

But if I help find a cure for it…

Then maybe… maybe she’ll marry my brother.

  Maybe he’ll finally be happy.

I just want to see him smile.

That’s what mom asked of me before she died.

  And that masked girl…

She saved me so I could make sure my brother stays happy.”

  Her eyes sparkled with hope.

There was a smile on her face—not na?ve, but full of determination.

Will her efforts succeed? Will she be able to fulfill her mother’s last wish? And who is that mysterious masked girl who saved her… and why?
