12:15 AMAnamika & Saaniya’s House
Aniket, wobbling like a toddler trying to walk, stood in front of Anamika.
Saaniya, meanwhile, was fully ready to punch him straight into another dimension.
One wrong word from his mouth and—snap!—his bones were history.
But Aniket… oh, Aniket was in full drama mode tonight.
With no warning, he dropped straight to the floor, clutched Anamika’s feet, and laid flat like a fallen hero.“Forgive me, please!” he cried, as if auditioning for a soap opera.“For this morning... it was my fault! Everything went sideways because of me. You didn’t even get to meet my best friend properly… oh noble queen, please forgive this lowly soul!”
Anamika, flustered, crouched down and tried to pull him up.“Hey, hey! There’s no need for all this! Please get up—you’re embarrassing me!”
But that only fired him up more.
“What?! Even my apology is embarrassing you now?! Forgive me for that too then! I clearly suck at saying sorry!”
Anamika laughed nervously. “No, no! I just meant—this is all unnecessary! You don’t need to apologize, really! Just… please get up?”
Aniket peeked up at her like a guilty child and pouted.“Only if you say you've forgiven me!”
“Okay, okay! I forgive you!” she replied quickly. “Now please get up!”
Instead of getting up, he sat cross-legged on the floor and dramatically said,“But tell me something. If someone threatens you, shouldn’t they apologize too?”
Anamika chuckled and sat beside him. “Of course! Wait—someone threatened you?”
This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it.
He pointed at Saaniya like a 5-year-old snitching on a classmate.
“This witch right here! She threatened to break my jaw this morning! Tell her to say sorry too!”
Saaniya’s jaw dropped. “WHAT?! Me?! Say sorry to you?!”
Aniket looked at Anamika with big, pleading eyes.
Anamika, trying not to laugh, gave Saaniya a look and softly said,“C’mon… it’s just a tiny sorry. Please?”
Saaniya rolled her eyes so hard they nearly left orbit.“Fine! For something that didn’t even need an apology, here—SORRY.”
Aniket made a face like she’d just handed him garbage.“That sounded like a beggar’s charity!”
She smirked. “Exactly. Take it or leave it.”
He puffed up his cheeks like a sulky kid, marched into the guest room, slammed the door, and yelled,“I don’t want charity! Apologize properly or I’m not coming out!”
Saaniya’s blood pressure spiked. She pushed past Anamika, stormed to the door, and banged on it like thunder.“COME OUT NOW or I swear, I’ll turn that face of yours into something even mirrors would reject!”
A beat later…
The door creaked open. Aniket peeked out like a scared puppy and whispered,“Is she really your friend?” he asked Anamika, hiding behind her like she was a human shield.
Anamika awkwardly nodded.
Saaniya’s eyes went wide with disbelief.
“ANU!” she barked. “You’re seriously nodding along with this drunk mess?!”
Aniket held a finger to his lips. “Shhh! Stop yelling! You’re giving me a headache.”
Saaniya huffed, “Your headache isn’t from me—it’s from all the alcohol you chugged!”
“I didn’t drink!” he whined like a child. “How many times do I have to say it?! I don’t drink!”
But his sleepy, glassy eyes told a different story.
Saaniya scoffed, “Yeah. And I’m the Queen of England.”
And just like that, they were bickering like cats and dogs again—Aniket insisting he was sober, and Saaniya threatening to drown him in lemon water.
Caught in the crossfire, Anamika finally screamed,“STOP! Both of you—SHUT UP!”
Silence. Blessed silence.
Saaniya walked away dramatically and declared,“I’m calling Aditya! Let him deal with this drunk.”
Aniket pouted but stayed quiet. He plopped down on the sofa and closed his eyes.
Meanwhile, Anamika quietly went into the kitchen and returned with a glass of lemon water.
But by the time she reached the living room… he was fast asleep.
Saaniya returned and sighed, “Ugh. My phone’s out of balance. Anu, can I borrow yours?”
“Yeah, it’s in the kitchen. I’ll get it,” said Anamika.
As Anamika walked off, Saaniya glanced at the peacefully sleeping Aniket.
He looked like a fairytale prince—soft, beautiful, and still.
She whispered, “So calm when you’re asleep… who’d believe you’re actually a lunatic when awake?”
Just then, Anamika came back and handed her the phone.
Saaniya dialed Aditya’s number, but at the same time—RING RING—another call came through.
She handed the phone back. “Probably the hospital. If Aditya answers, tell him to come get this drunk.”
Saaniya dashed back to her room.
Anamika looked down at the screen… and without meaning to, answered the call.
“Hello?” came a soft voice from the other side.
It was Aditya.
Anamika didn’t speak, but somehow… Aditya just knew.
He smiled and gently whispered,
“Anamika…?”
A pause.
A silence filled with meaning, with everything they weren’t saying.
His heart raced. His wish had come true.
She had called. She had called him.
And in that quiet moment, his world lit up.
But what will Anamika say now?
Will her silence speak more than words?
And how long will this happiness last for Aditya?

Did you feel the magic tonight?
