A group stands in the medical bay of the ship. It consists of Me, Anibeli, a surgeon, the navigator, and the ship's priest.
The navigator and I were... not excluded, as we were still in the group, but we were given space. Me because I am me, and the navigator because most everyone aboard was nervous around the navigator.
But I digress. We stood around the bed where the captured navigator was chained. Anibeli wanted our input on just what the hell was going on.
One didn't send valuable people like navigators and the like off to some ill fated boarding action. It had everyone on edge. I was no different. There was something we were missing, and I lacked context and background information to truly assist.
"Repeat how you captured it, xeno." The priest demanded. I turned to look at him. Older, graying. He was solidly built. Likely he was a voidsman before becoming a clergyman.
"As I have repeatedly stated. I decided to deal with the supposed warlock and sent my squad away. Then, I killed her escort/guards. Then, after determining that the warlock was in fact a 'navigator', a known high value personage, I decided that to push this problem higher up to the Captain Anibeli. That is it." I say after a notable pause.
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
"And you were right to do so." Anibeli nods at me. "As we can all guess, something is... wrong, with this entire situation. I need perspectives. Should we kill her? Consequences there in? Should we capture her and return her to her house? Give me ideas."
"This is an unknown quantity. The threat is unknown. When dealing with the immaterial, it is best to remove the issue root and stem and surrounding area. I say kill it." I state.
"The xeno has a point. This has to be a ploy by the great enemy, Shipmistriss." The priest stated.
"Hm... Points, there are. But threat, there is little. Yet. Hm... Talk first, then decide. This is my opinion." The navigator stated.
"Well, uh... Captain, mam... I uh, did just fix her up... might as well hear a word or two before voidin' her. Or, kill her, I'm just a surgeon mam." The surgeon said, ducking his head.
Anibeli looked down on the girl, and frowned. She looked at me and asked. "If we were to awaken her, could you kill her?" She asked.
I paused and thought. If the eye wasn't in play, there was little risk. While I might not have as much armor as an immortal, I had up armored myself to nearly the same level... plus, I had killed such foes before.
"Yes, it is extremely likely I could eliminate the threat she could pose. I would need to use some things I rather would not, but the threat is higher-minimal."
"Fine, fine... Surgeon, wake the girl in 30. We hold her here. I, Nezekiri, and Priest Jake will remain. That will be all for now." She said.
With the decision made, I began preparing myself. This would go smoothly, or explode within a moment's notice. There was no in-between
