School was probably one of the most boring places to be ever. But Ji-Soo still had to go every day. Sitting in class, just before the start of class, many students were self-studying, preparing for the day, while some simply hung out or slept head down on their desks. The morning air was fresh and cool. She didn’t know how to describe it, but it had that sense of abundant oxygen. Then, the teacher entered with her books on the side and her casual look at the students. Her gaze carried the disrespect that elders would usually give toward those who were younger than them.
The classmates hanging around Ji-Soo immediately straightened up as if their mom was standing in front of them. Each and every one of them hustled to their seats with the same thought as the others.
Why is the teacher so early today?
“Kids nowadays…” Miss Rosy murmured, shaking her head. “Why is it that whenever I see you, you always manage to disappoint me? Do I really have to ask the school for a few interesting rules that I could implement in this class? Should I do that?”
“No teacher, we’re very sorry!” They all said.
Miss Rosy stacked her book on her desk.
“President and vice president, please collect everyone’s homework,” the teacher said as she started to write on the chalkboard. Some kind of advanced mathematics that most students in the class probably couldn’t comprehend.
“Yes, Miss Rosy,” Do-Hyun said, as he stood up from his seat to take everyone’s homework one by one.
Ji-Soo did so too, but with a lot less passion. She just stood up from her desk like a wilted flower.
“Please give me your homework,” she said to one of her classmates.
“Please can you spare me~” the female classmates pleaded, but unfortunately Ji-Soo had to obey the teacher, the boss.
“Sorry, remembered to do your homework next time,” Ji-Soo said coldly and took the homework away from the female classmate.
That clearly didn’t sit well with the girl since her expression quickly turned sour.
“Ha, you’re just lucky to get elected as the vice president, do you think you’re all that or something?” The girl scoffed.
Her face looked utterly unlikable. Like one of those bitchy girls Ji-Soo often saw in K-dramas.
Ji-Soo wanted to slap her, but she decided to hold back. It wasn’t worth it. She just took the girl’s homework and shuffled to the next student.
After that, the other classmates, luckily, weren’t as rude, except for a few. But that was a sacrifice she was willing to endure. Eventually, it was Jin-Woo's turn.
“Give me your homework,” Ji-Soo said, staring down at him. Even in class, he could still give off that air of pretentious nobility as if he were better than everybody here.
“What if I don’t? What are you going to do about it?” Jin-Woo said, crossing his arms.
“I’m telling the teacher,” Ji-Soo said simply as she immediately tried to take his homework away from him. He didn’t allow it, so he immediately pulled back. Putting his whole bodyweight into it. Since her body was female, she naturally couldn’t compete in terms of pure strength, so just as he was about to win the tug battle, Ji-Soo released her grip. Jin-Woo quickly lost his balance and fell back from his chair with a thud. The commotion was so loud that everyone in the room turned to look.
“You, you!” Jin-Woo pointed at her. “Is that how a vice president should act?”

Ji-Soo scoffed.
“Well, it wasn’t my intention, and that was your fault. Why were you trying to pull back your homework anyway? Did you develop romantic feelings for it or something?”
Jin-Woo’s face immediately flushed red.
“I did not!”
Ji-Soo extended her hand.
“Then give it to me.”
Jin-Woo: “You…”
Reluctantly, without daring to look at her, he gave Ji-Soo his homework. From behind her, Miss Rosy gave a silent nod of approval.
Finally, Ji-Soo got everyone’s homework. Was that so hard? It shouldn’t take this much effort just to get some homework.
She gave the homework to the teacher, who gave her a “thank you, dear~” and sat back down in her seat. Little did she know that it was not the end.
******
One day later.
Miss Rosy walked into the classroom with her books by the side again.
“Ji-Soo, Do-Hyun, please collect everyone’s homework.”
Do-Hyun: “Yes, teacher!”
“Hah~ okay, Miss Rosy,” Ji-Soo said, standing up from her seat.
Then Do-Hyun turned his attention to her.
“I will handle this side, and you handle the other. Is that okay?” Do-Hyun asked, his voice sounded surprisingly pleasant.
As expected of a male lead candidate. If only he tried harder to woo the female lead.
Do-Hyun noticed her distractfulness.
“Ji-Soo, is that okay with you?” Do-Hyun said again, his voice a little more unpleasant this time. He didn’t like being ignored.
Ji-Soo came back to reality.
“Ah? Yes, yes! It’s fine, hehe,” she said, scratching the back of her head as she turned to the row she was assigned to.
For the first few classmates, everything was going normally. Until she encountered the bitchy, rich girl of this class again. If Ji-Soo remembered it correctly, she wasn’t being difficult only to her. Even in the original story, she was also being unbearably difficult to the female protagonist, Seo-Yeon. Purely out of dislike for seeing someone who looked better than them, she guessed. Seo-Yeon was beautiful, smart, and had the attention of all the male students of this school. Who wouldn’t be jealous?
“What? Are you ignoring me?” The bitchy girl snapped.
Ji-Soo looked at the girl, dumbfounded.
Then Ji-Soo extended her hand.
“Homework,” she said simply, wriggling her hand in the process.
But for some reason, her action must have offended the girl again.
“No homework,” she answered, acting like Ji-Soo did not matter.
“No grade then.”
Ji-Soo moved on to the next desk. Ignoring the girl with the sour face from behind. It wasn’t her problem whether they had their homework or not.
This time, the classmate was still working on his homework. Clasping his hands together, he glanced up at her.
“Vice president, can you spare me this time?”
He looked really pitiful. For a second, Ji-Soo almost fell for it. She shook her head.
“I’ll give you some time. Keep working on it, I’ll come back.”
The male student beamed like a golden retriever.
“Thank you so much, vice president!”
The student immediately returned his homework. Probably hoping to finish it before Ji-Soo returns. Ji-Soo hoped she would get more bonus points with the class after this. More often than not, people like her and Do-Hyun were very hated. They were like the teacher’s dog, doing whatever the teacher said. That could easily lead to disputes within the class.
She moves on.
This time, it was Seo-Yeon’s turn. As expected of a model student and the female protagonist, she had done all of her homework and obediently turned it in. It made Ji-Soo feel happy inside. If only more people were like her. If Ji-Soo were still a boy, she might have a chance. Although that is now just a distant dream.
“Ji-Soo!” Do-Hyun called out, his voice irritable. “Jin-Woo refused to give me his homework unless it’s you.”
“What?” Ji-Soo grumbled. It’s that bastard again. Always making things difficult for her.
Still, Ji-Soo walked over to Jin-Woo despite her displeasure.
Extending her hand, she said, “Homework.”
“No.”
Ji-Soo’s face quickly turned sour as if she were looking at a piece of trash. Didn’t he say earlier that he wanted her? She thought. She needs to calm down. People like him actually enjoy it more when she reacts.
Ji-Soo turned her back to him and walked to the teacher.
“Okay then, zero.”
Jin-Woo urgently grabbed her hand.
“What? You’re not even going to ask me the reason why?”
Ji-Soo scoffed.
“What for? You just get a zero. If you wanted to protest, just ask the teacher.”
Jin-Woo seemed to realize that he couldn’t speak to her normally, so he quickly released her hand and dove into his backpack to pull out his homework.
“Here. Take it. I don’t want my mom to hear about it. Do you hear me?”
Ji-Soo took his homework.
“Of course. That’s a given, as long as you don’t cause trouble.”
Jin-Woo: ‘This girl…’
Ji-Soo walked away. Unknowingly, the few bitchy girls from earlier had already started to plan something ominous behind her back.
“This will teach her a lesson,” they said, laughing like hyenas with each other.
