Ep. 1556 The Last Leg Part 5

I am fairly confident that I can talk them into not attacking us, but letting us pass is less sure. I will just wait, see how they act, and do what seems best based on their attitude. For now, I take the furry hides that we just collected and head into the carriage.

I use my mana to fuse them together and then to fuse them to the couch, but I don’t fuse it to the carriage. I don’t want to go through the trouble of redoing all of the enchantments on the carriage. It isn’t really worth it, this is just for the sake of the puppy to be honest, I’m sure he will love it.

Asuna will also probably enjoy it, but I expect her to get bored of it fairly quickly. Lin won’t care at all, her obsession with fuzziness has nothing to do with the actual fur. It is all about me being fuzzy, more importantly, I am her big fuzzy teddybear.

Victoria I am unsure about, but I don’t really know her yet so that isn’t surprising. If she does enjoy it, then great, but if she doesn’t it won’t really matter to me. I am not really sure how I should treat her, is she going to be part of the family or just a weapon?

Her attitude is going to be the determining factor in this, but she is hard to read. The problem is that she is too serious, I am not used to dealing with someone who is serious all the time. The closest I have seen to her being relaxed is when she was petting the fur on my arm.

Even then, it was more like she just wanted to feel what the fuss was about than anything. I can’t be sure yet, she isn’t old enough for me to make any kind of decision. I’m a little torn, should I send her back with Lin, or keep her close to me for longer?

“Seronia, do you have a minute?”

Seronia says “This is getting to be a habit. What do you need, Ash?”

“I had some more questions about angels.”

Seronia says “I thought we covered everything? Are you having problems with the divine spell forms?”

“No, I created two abilities for healing. It wasn’t easy, but it worked out okay. No, I had questions about angel’s personalities.”

Seronia says “Oh? Personalities? Angels don’t really have much personality.”

“So it’s normal for her to be super serious about everything?”

Seronia says “Yes, it is. I have never seen an angel laugh or tell a joke. It isn’t quite right to think of them as people. I’m not sure how to describe it, but they are not complete like people are. They are created for a purpose and that purpose is all they care about.”

  “What purpose?”

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

Seronia says “To serve the one who created them.”

“Yeah, she gave me some attitude about that. She was disappointed that I wasn’t a deity. Made some snide comments about it.”

Seronia says “That is more personality than an angel normally shows. I don’t know why I am surprised. I doubt you could do anything normally if your life depended on it!”

“Are you saying my angel is unusual?”

Seronia says “Of course she is! She’s yours! That was pretty much guaranteed!”

“So, in other words, you can’t help me.”

Seronia says “No, not really. As usual, you have gotten yourself into uncharted waters. You will just have to figure it out.”

“Well, that really doesn’t help me with the decision that I am trying to make.”

Seronia says “What decision are you trying to make?”

“Whether to send Victoria back to the peninsula for training or to keep her with me for longer to develop her personality.”

Seronia says “I would send her back. She needs training and your wives and kids will interact with her. That should be more than enough to help her develop.”

“Alright, I guess I will do that then.”

Seronia says “You are taking my advice? This feels weird! I could get used to it though!”

“I wouldn’t suggest that, it probably won’t happen again!”

That gets me a sarcastic response and we end up bickering back and forth for a few minutes. It is still really fun to tease Seronia and get her all worked up, even if it’s not in person. I will probably be made to pay for it later, but that is also a part of the fun and I am looking forward to it.

We finish teasing each other and I find that it is still an hour or so before dawn. Not enough time to go into the hallway or to take a nap, but I’m not sure what else to do. So, I find a nice spot to sit down, take out the essences I have collected, and spend some time studying them.

I study the essences until the sun has been up for an hour then I head back to the cabin. I climb into bed with Lin, slide under the covers, and wake her up in the funnest way I know how. Once she wakes up, she reciprocates and we end up having a couple of rounds of fun.

Then we end up rushing to have breakfast and get moving in time for the caravan to leave on time. We keep grinning at each other like having to rush is funny, it isn’t but we still keep doing it. We are still giggling like children as we pile into the carriage and get moving.

Even once we are moving, we keep playing around and giggling like we are both insane. It is a lot of fun, in fact I can’t remember the last time I had this much fun. Something about being with Lin brings out the kid in me and apparently in her too.

Asuna joins in on the playing around and games, but Victoria just watches from the side. The puppy is playing on the now fur covered couch and seems to be having a great time. With nothing going on, I don’t see any reason to end the fun, so it keeps going until lunch.

Things settle down just a little when we stop for lunch, but the jokes don’t stop. I even find myself falling back on horrible dad jokes that I remember from my world. Asuna doesn’t get most of them, but Lin does and she just can’t stop laughing.

All in all, it is a great lunch, but things settle down once we get back on the road. Asuna is napping on the couch with the puppy and Lin is cuddling up against me. Victoria is just sitting on the opposite side of the carriage watching us, it is a little unnerving.

However, that is nowhere near enough to make me give up a second of cuddle time. She probably has no understanding of relationships and is watching to try and learn. I am not about to let her disturb me, but it would also be good for her to improve her understanding.

Lin and I spend the rest of the trip cuddling and chatting about whatever pops into our minds. Asuna, when she wakes up from her nap, spends that time playing with the puppy. The only break from that is when I have to feed the puppy, but it is a really pleasant day.
