Before Myria gets mad at me I start eating what she brought me, but it isn’t enough. I quickly take out several more servings from my pouch and eat them as well. When I finally feel full, I pick the crystal back up and start enchanting it, but it has too much capacity.
Just the cleaning enchantment doesn’t even use ten percent of what is available. There is no way that I can leave that much capacity empty, it would eventually become unstable. As I am trying to think of what else to add, I put in the normal self-repair and toughness enchantments.
I quickly think of several things that I could add, but they are all divine spells. However, I don’t want to have to deal with separating the space in the crystal to use both. Converting the divine spells to use mana ends up being far easier than it has ever been before.
The spells to heal, moisturize, and revitalize are all quickly converted to enchantments. Then, before I realize it, I have broken them back down and merged them into a single enchantment. Unfortunately, that means it doesn’t take anywhere near as much space as I was hoping it would.
I quickly create a few more enchantments to make it feel good when you get cleaned. Even with all that, I haven’t even used half of the available capacity and I am out of ideas. In the end, I decide to be lazy and convert the rest of the capacity into mana storage.
I don’t bother with a formation, I just add an enchantment to passively absorb mana. It will be enough to allow use of the stone without having to spend any mana. If it is full, it could even be used for extra mana in emergencies, but I doubt it will be needed.
“Ready to test it?”
Myria says “Sure, go ahead.”
I tap the crystal to Myria’s arm and then ask her how it feels.
Myria says “It feels great! I feel like I just got out of a nice long bath! Even my fur is all silky and smooth! This one is mine, you are not getting it back!”
As Myria snatches the crystal out of my hand all I can do is laugh at her antics. However, seeing how much she likes it, I know I need to make more for my other wives or I will suffer. There aren’t many rocks in the area, but luckily I still have some stone I was going to make into platforms.
Just thinking of the platforms makes me think about what I could do to the obelisks and platforms with this new knowledge. I quickly use Divided Mind and set half of it to making and enchanting more crystals. The other half is thinking about all the upgrades I can do to the obelisks and platforms.
Unfortunately, this is not the kind of upgrade that I could do remotely, they would need to be replaced. That is something that I don’t want to do, I just barely started replacing the platforms. Not to mention the obelisks, there are already way too many, replacing them would be a huge task.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
That is just for the current ones, by the time I get back there would be even more. The upgrades would make a massive difference, but the time it would take might not be worth it. I just have too much that I need to do and even more things that I want to do.
So, I scrap the idea of using crystals for the obelisks and platforms, but my ideas don’t stop there. Instead I start thinking about what I can do remotely and that is a fairly long list. However, just because I can do something remotely doesn’t mean that I should.
The change I have already planned out for the platforms is good enough, so I leave it alone. The changes I had planned to make once I could do things remotely need to be completely redone. I am still going to have to physically replace the old platforms, but that isn’t too bad.
The problem is that I have too many ideas of what I can do, but I can’t do them all. I need to prioritize, but that is hard considering I keep coming up with more ideas. I need to stop thinking about it, so I look around for something to distract me.
Of course, the other half of my brain is still working on the crystals, so I only need half of a distraction. As I look around, my eyes are first drawn to Myria, but she is busy talking to Lizzy and Leylisha. Then my eyes focus on the carriage and I remember that Amn wanted to buy it.
“Hey, Myria, Lizzy, just how attached to the carriage are the two of you?”
Myria says “I don’t know. Why are you asking?”
“Well, Amn wanted to buy it and I was just thinking that I could make a much better one with my new knowledge. Then again, I didn’t even build this one, it was one that Yui gave me.”
Myria says “It is linked to me, can that even be broken?”
“Hm, good point. I should be able to, let me take a look at you.”
Myria comes over and offers me her hand, I take it and run my mana through her to take a look. It is only when I do that that I remember I was supposed to be keeping an eye on her after enhancing her. Luckily, the link to the carriage is just mana based and isn’t connected to her soul.
It only takes me a few seconds to remove the connection, but that isn’t important. Due to my forgetfulness, Myria’s body has been changing this entire time and I haven’t been paying attention. I thought her body was stable after I replaced her heart, but now I can tell it has been changing ever since.
Her body has been adapting to the heart and at the same time it has been being changed by it. As I scan her, I find a number of changes that either aren’t complete or caused problems. I am surprised that Myria hasn’t complained about any of this, it has to be causing problems.
“Myria, if something was wrong you would tell me, right?”
Myria says “Of course I would. Why? What did you find? Is something wrong?”
“So, no pain? You feel fine?”
Myria says “No, no major aches or pain.”
“No, major ones. What about minor ones?”
Myria says “Well, yeah. There are always minor things, that’s normal.”
“No. No, it’s not. You shouldn't feel any pain unless you get injured.”
Myria says “Does that mean that something is wrong? Am I dying?!”
“No, you are not dying. We caught it in time.”
Myria says “Caught what? If you don’t tell me what is going on right now I am going to hurt you!”
“Alright, calm down! It looks like the heart I put in you has had some unintended side effects.”
Myria says “What does that mean?!”
“Well, if you would stop interrupting, I would tell you!”
Myria says “Stop dragging it out! Tell me what is going on!”
