Once Seronia is done telling me what she knows, Krenocia takes over and tells me about the summoning. She has told me about it before, but this time she goes into much greater detail. It is enough that I could probably figure out the summoning spell if I really wanted to.

  Krenocia says “I see that look in your eye, don’t you dare!”

  “What? I didn’t say anything!”

  Krenocia says “You were just thinking about recreating the summoning spell!”

  “I was thinking that I could, but also that I didn’t need to. Lin handles all the summoning and I am fine with that.”

  Krenocia says “You had better not make me regret this!”

  “It’s fine, you can skip the summoning part. I am far more interested in the body that you shoved me into.”

  Krenocia says “Alright.”

  She then goes into the details of how she used her power as a substitute for life force. Unfortunately, when I ask, she just used her power instinctively and doesn’t know exactly how it worked. It looks like I am going to have to figure that part out for myself, but that’s fine by me.

  Still, I get her to tell me every detail that she can remember, even how it felt to use her power. I have no idea if any of it will be helpful, but it isn’t like I am wasting my time. If nothing else, we are all cuddling the entire time she is talking and that may be all the attention I get tonight.

  When Krenocia has told me everything that she remembers, I ask the two of them a few other questions. I want to be sure I get everything they know about spirit and I also want to delay the last topic. The problem is that there are only so many questions that I can ask them and they soon run out.

  Krenocia says “You are repeating yourself. What is it you are trying to avoid?”

  Seronia says “Well, none of this has pissed us off, so he is probably trying to avoid the topic that will.”

  Krenocia says “Alright, Ash, out with it. What are you trying to avoid saying?”

  “Well, I want you to release me from a promise that I made.”

  Seronia says “What promise? Why should we release you?”

  “The promise not to experiment without asking first. I have a lot of experiments that I need to do and I don’t want to have to come running to you to get permission for every single one.”

  Seronia says “What?!? Not a chance! You are far too dangerous when you start experimenting!”

  Krenocia says “I agree! Your self-control, what little you have, disappears completely when you are experimenting. Your promise is the only thing that keeps you from going completely out of control.”

  Seronia says “We aren’t going to release you from your promise, it just is too much of a risk. However, we can approve a group of experiments instead of each individual experiment. They just have to be on the same subject.”

  “Such as all experiments having to do with spirit?”

  Seronia says “Yeah, like that.”

  Krenocia says “No, wait. Life force covers a wide range of areas. What kind of experiments?”

  “Well, based on what Everburn told me I am going to be experimenting with the spirit of different things to look for something I can make my own. The idea is that if I can figure out a way to have my own spirit, I will be able to live normally. I also plan to experiment with the essence from beast cores for the same reason.”

  Krenocia says “That is a lot of experiments and I can already think of a large number of things that could go wrong. I understand you wanting to live longer, but I am worried about how far you will go in these experiments.”

  Seronia says “That’s a good point. What is with this sudden desire to find a fix for yourself?”

  “That’s all your fault. You tempted me with six goddesses as wives! How can I just roll over and die now? Besides, Everburn thinks that if I fix my spirit it might also fix my infertility.”

  Seronia says “What makes you think you are infertile?”

  “If I wasn’t, Lin or Myria would have gotten pregnant by now.”

  Krenocia says “Why those two?”

  “They have been with me the longest and the most often.”

  Seronia says “Well, that isn’t exactly true.”

  “Wait, which part!?”

  Seronia says “I can’t tell you without breaking a promise, but as a goddess of life I can tell you that you aren’t infertile.”

  “How is that possible? How can you be sure? Who did you promise?”

  Seronia says “I won’t answer anymore questions. Let’s get back to your experimenting.”

  Krenocia says “Actually, I’m with Ash. What do you know?!”

  Seronia says “I can’t say! I will not break my promise!”

  “Okay, you’re right, sorry. I won’t ask you to break a promise, but I am going to question my wives as soon as I get a chance.”

  Seronia sighs and says “If I let you out of your promise, will you leave this alone and wait until they tell you?”

  Krenocia says “Sister!”

  “I’m not sure if I can do that. This seems like a really big secret and it definitely involves me! My curiosity is already going nuts.”

  Seronia says “Is satisfying your curiosity worth pissing off me and some of your wives?”

  “Ugh, put that way, no it isn’t.”

  Seronia says “Promise me that you will drop this and not mention it to anyone else?”

  “Fine! Yes, I promise!”

  Seronia says “In that case, I release you from your promise about experimenting.”

  Krenocia says “Wait a second! That promise was made to both of us and I haven’t agreed to anything!”

  Seronia grabs Krenocia, drags her off away from me, and whispers into her ear. She whispers for a few minutes and the look on Krenocia’s face makes me even more curious. However, Seronia did something so that not even the tiniest sound reaches me.

  Krenocia says “Alright, fine! I agree to release you from your promise.”

  “Thank you, but the fact that you didn’t argue with your sister makes me even more curious!”

  Seronia says “Well that’s just too bad. You already promised.”

  “I know, but now I’m wondering if it was worth it.”

  Krenocia says “Just think about the anger of your wives, that should help cool off your curiosity.”

  “Yeah, it does.”

  Seronia says “So, is there anything else you wanted to talk to us about?”

  “No, not currently, but I will probably come back for your opinions once I have started the experiments.”

  Seronia says “That’s fine, we will help as much as we can. Just try not to do anything too reckless.”

  “I’ll try. So, are you mad at me or are we still going to have some fun?”

  Krenocia says “Fun! Definitely fun!”
