This ends up requiring a quick trip back to the southern empire to buy a massive amount of feathers. They are the best material available for furniture and I am making an absolutely massive bed. For the honeymoon it is going to need to fit the five of us with room to spare.
I use my human form when I arrive in the southern empire to try and not cause a fuss. I’m sure that the emperor’s intelligence people are aware of me, but that shouldn’t be a problem. I have to do a bit of running around, no single shop has the amount of feathers that I need.
By the time I am done the capital is probably going to have a shortage of feathers. However, this is an easier alternative than trying to figure out how to make a more modern mattress. Besides, it is far easier to do what I want with enchantments after I have something to enchant.
Making a massive feather stuffed mattress and then enchanting it to be comfortable is far easier. Besides, this way it will be comfortable for everyone no matter their preferences. Magic is great for things like this, I am really glad I got the ability to use it again.
I don’t even want to think about where I might be without magic, it has been a huge help. For example, making all the windows for the lodge without magic would have been a nightmare. Especially the big ones for the skylights, I don’t even know if those could be made without magic.
They could have been made on earth, but that is just using technology instead of magic. Besides, I know nothing about actual glassmaking, without magic I wouldn’t even know where to start. It makes up for a lot of the gaps in my knowledge, which is why I call it my awesome cheat.
I couldn’t even accomplish half of the stuff I do without it, let alone be in the position I am now in. On the other hand, without magic I probably wouldn’t be stuck becoming the ruler of the peninsula. I would also probably be alone, if I was even still alive, I really don’t want to think about this anymore.
To distract myself, I take my pouch full of feathers and gate back to the island. Then I immediately begin crafting the mattress and all the other soft pieces for the furniture. Once that is done, the lodge is finished and ready for the honeymoon.
It isn’t quite dawn yet when I finish, so I go back to crafting obelisks until the sun comes up. When the sun starts to come up, I stop and eat some breakfast while I watch it rise. As soon as I am done eating I take off and head to the south, scanning as I go.
It ends up being a good thing that I am because I actually detect some dragonfish. It is only a small group, but they are in shallower water where I can get to them easily. I quickly dive into the water, but I don’t bother to trap them with a bubble this time.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
Instead, I swim directly into the group and attack them with my teeth and claws. The dragonfish react pretty quickly, but they are probably used to drakes hunting them from above. They don’t manage to put up much of a fight, but it feels good to fight them physically.

I put the bodies into my pouch and then continue swimming towards the south as I scan for more. I can’t help but wonder why they were in this area, do they move into the shallows at night? If so, then I have missed who knows how many opportunities to hunt them.
Since the lodge is finished, I think tonight I will check the shallows and see if I can find them. For now, I continue towards deeper waters because that is where the group was heading. If they do move into the shallows at night, then they return to the depths during the day.
My best guess is that there is something more dangerous that hunts the depths at night. Either that, or they started avoiding the shallows during the day because of the drakes. Whichever it is, if I can figure out their habits it will become a lot easier to hunt them.
It is only a few minutes later that my scan picks up something, two somethings to be precise. To the east is another small school of dragonfish and to the west is something much bigger. Instantly, I turn and start swimming to the east, I want no part of whatever the big thing is.
Unfortunately, when I scan a few seconds later it is still there, meaning it is heading the same way as me. Either it is a coincidence that it is heading this way, or it is hunting me, I don’t know which. I increase to my top speed, wanting to kill the dragonfish and put them in my pouch before it can catch up.
There are thirteen dragonfish in this group, but as I am closing in on them there is a huge splash. I scan again immediately, but there are only eleven dragonfish now, so I surface. A quick look around allows me to spot a red drake with two dragonfish in its talons.
It is flying back towards the land bridge, but I could easily catch up to it if I wanted to. I decide not to, mainly because it is a red drake and that brings up some memories. Besides, I admire the skill required to snatch two of the dragonfish in one dive.
I dive back down and continue my approach to the school of dragonfish, but they are aware of me now. They turn to attack when I get close enough, but it doesn’t really do them any good. A quick scan shows the big thing is still headed this way, so I don’t waste any time in killing them.
11 Dragonfish defeated! 275,000 Exp gained!
Level: 19 Exp: 45,504,150/52,428,800
As I am putting the corpses into my pouch, I check my current experience to see how much I need. Just under seven million to go, not as bad as I thought, but still a long way to go. I will definitely be able to hit my next evolution before I get enough exp to level up.
By the time I am done putting away the corpses, the big thing is close enough for my scan to show some details. It seems to be a giant crocodile with flippers, much like the one I killed near the elven island. It is either following me, or it is attracted to the blood left behind from my kills.
Either way, I have no real interest in fighting the thing, so I take to the air and leave the area. I can hunt for dragonfish anywhere, there is no need to fight with that thing for this hunting ground. I am not sure I could take it without using my Meg form and that would mean no exp.
