AnnouncementPoor MC doesn't know technology. Anyways going from ignorance to knowledgable is going to be written. Anything that seems unknown will be attributed to magic. Also did some more research on how the stuff looks like.Lines of white froth trailed behind the ship. A cool and salty breeze licked our faces as more and more ships gathered in a long line, funnelling together.
This hunk of steel floats in water and moves without sails and oars. This must be magic! I nodded my head. Long hair blew across my face, forcing a small sneeze.
"You didn't get seasick?"
"This is softer than the river for now."
"So unfair! The first time I went on a ship left me bedridden for a week. All the books have the protagonist puke their breakfast lunch and dinner out."
Her pouting face is squishy. We will become at most acquaintances ter. The world looked a little more grey. But Piltover! The city of craftsmanship, merchants and other thingies. How will I survive there?
There is one clear way for me to go. Find a job reted to pottery, stone masonry, or maybe even architecture. By demonstrating my magic, surely I can find a job right?
"Anna, is there anypce I can find a job suitable for my skills? I did pottery back home."
"Don't worry! You can be mine."
"Isn't it too early to decide? We are still young, way too young."
Saying those words, my heart can't take it. She put her hands on her hips.
"Humph. Are you looking down on my family! At worst you can be my servaaa--nt."
The ship rocked slightly as it rose over a crest. My mind bnked out as I caught her. Holding her felt natural, like two parts of a whole.
No no no no no no. What am I thinking? She's going to leave sooner or ter... But what if I accept? Fantasies of traveling together across the world fshed through my mind. I shook my head to disperse those fantasies.
"I want to travel the world. If you're with me, food and water has to be brought, and care must be taken to protect you. After all, mountains and other treacherous pces have beautiful views..."
"Mmmhm. So you've already calcuted me into your thinking. You can explore when you're older right? Don't you need somewhere to stay? Right now, you should be thinking of what you are already holding. Mmm. That's right! Just hold me longer..."
I continued to hold her while pondering. There is no way I can find a pce to sleep right off the bat unless I dig a hole. Why don't I stay at her pce for now? I can stay there while searching for something to earn money, eventually I can repay them and go off on an adventure... There's no way I'm doing this because I like her too much. Yup, no way!
Most likely her mother will not let me stay, so it's best if I make some back up pns. To that, I asked gently to the girl in my arms.
"Don't you need to ask for your mother's permission? It's not like I don't want to, it's that we need to have your mother's permission first."
"Then all I need to do is be more distressed."
We were soon ushered back to our rooms for the forecast of rain. The room we got were small and cramped, only big enough for one adult. It was extremely simple, with a small window that faced outside and a small inbuilt storage under the bed. This is the most a baker's wife could do for us.
Beep* Attention all passengers. This is the captain speaking. We are currently headed towards a stormy area. The crew will come and check on all areas of the ship. I repeat. The crew will come and check on all areas of the ship. Beep*
A hubbub of noise greeted us as we finally touched ground again.
Piltover.
The center of the world. Where ships from all over cross through the middle of the continents. The city of progress that is spearheading hextech. All of these epithets were taught to me by Anna. The other ones I've forgotten as the st vestiges of the storm kept my head spinning.
We disembarked at a well kept wharf. Boats with weird colorful sails lined up at this dock. After all the ordinary passengers disembarked, it moved away, towards a what looked to be a tunnel made of houses. Blue strips of light illuminated the tunnel as a ornate door slid over the opening, closing it off.
I got led by my hand towards the inside of the city. Pavement right after rain had a unique smell to it, just something different. Gradually, the crowd thinned out as a faint blue light illuminated the path.
The strange blue mps fizzed slightly with power, repcing regur mps as the area around us got more and more luxurious looking. A guard stood near every intersection, wearing dark blue clothes with gold embossments. I felt smaller and smaller as it felt like I was polluting the pce.
The fear of leaving a muddy track through these pristine roads clenched at my heart. We were walking closer to the side, as the occasional passerby waved at Anna. They had a warm smile as they ignored the smears of dirt and dust on us.
We stopped at a fancy building, copper circles with spokes arranged in an intricate manner.
"Ummm. By any chance is that?"
"No. My family lives there. But this building is my family's as well."
My words choked on themselves as I coughed from the shock. This extravagant pce that exuded wealth is connected to her? Is Anna a noble? Why does my image of her not match up?
She went ahead towards the 'quaint' house attached to the side of the big building. She is going to knock right? Anna flipped open a hidden ledge beside a circur protrusion, revealing another hidden one, in which she pressed. A faint chime of bells could be heard inside.
I shook my head. What is all of these strange new things? I don't even know how what or why something's going to happen here.
After a few seconds a set of hurried footsteps came down from the stairs. The door opened, revealing a sweaty dy. The resembnce was striking, brunette hair with limpid green eyes. A fishy smell came from inside the house, and the sound of a door shutting happened inside.
"Weren't you supposed to come back a few months ter? Where's your father? Never mind, you must be tired after the journey. Come inside with your friend, we can talk in the morning."
With that, she strutted back inside, walking back up the stairs as sweat dripped down. A few suppressed sobs came out of Anna's mouth as she covered it. I hugged her as she bawled her eyes out.
