Stu’s eyes shot open, it was dark and he didn’t know where he was. Sitting up he slowly gained his bearings as he realized he was in his room. The images fshed in his mind of the battle; did he really eat that gods heart? Touching his mouth, his teeth were all accounted for. He looked around and was surprised no one was there. Getting up and reaching for his gsses there was nothing, “Oh, right..” The image of his gsses shattering fshed through his mind. He stumbled out of his room; the house was unusually silent. He made it downstairs and into the living room. Everyone was there waiting. The entire group from humans to animals to gods were all there sitting, Stu looked at them confused why they were all there so te. It looked more like an intervention than anything. He saw Chaos and said, “I’m so happy you are safe.” He smiled at her, but she looked away.

  Tom said, “Have a seat Stu, there’s been some development.. We need to have a house meeting.”

  Stu took a seat asking, “Is this about the battle? Look I don’t know what happened, I normally wouldn’t literally eat a heart..”

  Tom spoke pinly as he said, “Last night we witnessed a couple of things that while not a first of their kind event were firsts in this tournament. We witnessed what Chaos’s power actually looks like, we saw everyone fight as one, and we saw the steward awaken to show itself. Stewardship is something that is making its rounds uncontained on our end. Everyone is aware of you now Stu. The battle report managed to make it out, the order has been made, Stu will prove he can contain it or be ordered for destruction.”

  Miracle was the only one to speak out, “Come on! Stu didn’t do anything wrong! He didn’t ask to be the fucking steward of chaos. Right guys?” She looked at the other girls who looked down at the floor in shame.

  Marrow asked, “Chaos, what’s on your mind?”

  Chaos spoke very softly, “I shouldn’t win. That’s what is on my mind. If I do win then what? What if I release that chaos on the world? I feel terrible about doing that to Stu, but everything…”

  Prosperity said, “I’ve never felt so powerful before and at the same time with no feelings of my own. Like a bomb just before detonation it was the power of possibility and at the same time emotionless, like a device waiting for anyone to push the right button.” She stared out in shock.

  Chaos was next to her and just hugged her saying, “I’m sorry.” Prosperity began to weep.

  Tom said, “If you use the power of Chaos and Chaos herself isn’t in control of it then you will experience something simir to a hivemind state like the one you entered at the end of the battle. Chaos wasn’t in control of it and it instead took control of her, Stu and Prosperity.”

  Kay cut in saying, “The other judges in the world felt the release of Chaos’s Energy the moment it touched this realm. The immediately started to reposition their resources in anticipation of having to fight. Then they confirmed a Steward of Chaos.”

  Marrow said, “We bought you as much time as we could, using everything we could. We are sorry that you don’t have more time.”

  Tom said, “Two days is all you have left until you will be judged Stu. Should you pass judgement you will remain in the tournament as so. Should you lose..” He looked away from Stu.

  Stu sighed, “Got it. Probably going to die this time. I feel like we’ve been drawing nearer to this moment honestly, like sterling said, perfect..” He was trying not to show the fear that everyone in the room was showing, he wouldn’t meet the grim reaper with fear in his eyes. If anything, he wanted to meet the grim reaper and take his eye. He smirked thinking about it, the sadness kicked back in when he thought about returning to give Prosperity the eye. No matter what, his thoughts never moved on from the girls. Every time he tried, it came full circle to them.

  Broth stretched in an exaggerated fashion. Seemingly, he was the only person who wasn’t sad. He said, “Yup! Now it’s Broth’s time to shine! While you sad jackoffs were moping around about losing friends, I actually did something…”

  Annoyed Marrow said, “Besides doing drugs?”

  Broth didn’t even look at Marrow saying, “Shut up cat.. Anyways, I analyzed the blood, urine and fecal samples you all donated and I think I have a way to bring everything back into focus..”

  Stu was confused saying, “I donated blood, but I don’t remember any of us donating anything else..”

  Broth said, “Yeah all this houses sewage is processed at the b. Marrow thinks of everything; Shoot, I can tell you every meal each one of you had this week..”

  Stu rubbed his face saying, “TMI Broth. Get on with it.”

  He said, “Sorry Stu..”

  Marrow asked, “How come Stu gets that kind of respect?”

  Stu yelled, “Focus!”

  Broth said, “Right, So I’ve been looking at all of your DNA side by side. I’ve found a few commonalities in the genetics between gods and bluebloods to create a little performance enhancer. He held up a bag of blue capsules. I call them Blue Gods…”

  Marrow said, “Booo..”

  Annoyed, Broth said, “Shut up cat! Like I said Blue Gods, these will bring you all down to the same level. Should make you all a little slower, but all your synapsis will be in sync. One capsule per individual! You all want to control the power of Chaos? Let’s face it, what are drugs? Pure unbridled Chaos, and I’m a functioning drug addict. You are all in my school now..”

  Stu looked at the girls and said, “I hate to say it, but he makes the most sense out of everything I heard today.”

  Prosperity was still in Chaos’s p and through her tears she said, “Probably have a concussion..”

  Broth said, “Come on guys! Get over yourselves! You got the coolest fucking lives in the world right now! Everyone wishes they were you! You have got to all grab your crotches, raise a middle finger, and tell the whole god damned universe where to shove it! You don’t want to be the harbinger of Chaos, So the fuck what? Get over yourself! Then there is Mr. blue blood I’m too cool to share a hot god…” At this point Broth made eye-contact with Stu. “Actually, I don’t have anything to say to you, I’m scared of you… The point is.. The whole god damned world is going to try and tear us down, you know why? Because every god and everything fears Chaos, and Chaos doesn’t fear shit..”

  Stu jumped up saying, “I can’t believe it, but he’s fucking right!”

  Chaos said, “But it’s terrifying.”

  Broth said, “Then it’s time to terrify it back, right?” He held up the Blue Gods. She nodded reluctantly giving in.

  Marrow looked at Tom, “I believe the insanity has spread. I almost believe him as well.”

  Tom nodded saying, “I hope for all our sakes this works. It’s going to take a miracle.”

  Miracle chimed in with, “Don’t worry I have you covered.”

  Prosperity sat up saying, “Alright, if Stu is in. Then I’m also in, I guess..”

  Kay jumped in the middle of them almost yelling, “The house of Chaos is back in action!”
