Chapter 30: A Frightening Woman

  Chapter 30: A Frightening Woman

Tiberius was currently in a bad spot.

He had accompanied Aurelius for some strange reason and gotten himself trapped in a room with the most terrifying mage in the world.

He was actually quite unsure as to why he was in this room in the first place, given that Aurelius was the one with all the information.

There were limits to friendship, and the current predicament he had embroiled himself in was a distinct showcase of such limits.

“We’re to siege the Academy with all of our forces.”

“All 1st division units will support the casting of the binding magic, and the 2nd division units are to completely dispel the mind magic at work over the Academy.”

“Evacuation of students is a top priority and we will call in spirit contracts 15 minutes before the start of our siege.”

“We have Ms. Yeltz to support the evacuation efforts as well as the protection of the commission personnel involved.”

“The spirit contracts include a lesser Angel, Cherub Mirae. She will help us shut down any non-commission teleportation in the area.”

Tiberius was practically melting in his seat with the force that was being prepared for deployment before his very eyes.

It had been less than 4 hours since Aurelius’s report!

“What do we do with the two boys?” A commission mage asked.

YES, THANK YOU FOR FINALLY REMEMBERING US! Tiberius thought.

A brief silence followed. Tiberius and Aurelius, who stood side by side in the operations room could do nothing but shrink in their place, their eyes darting about like helpless prey.

Aurelius looked almost ghostly, with his pale visage and his dead eyes. His cheeks looked hollowed from exhaustion, despite the rather full meal that he had mere hours prior.

This was quite reasonable, and Tiberius was almost certain that he looked worse.

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

The main issue for their current horror was the terrifying presence that filled the room, one that overwhelmed, no, consumed the already significant presence of the commission sage, Ms. Yeltz.

“Take them with us as bait. We need to see if the Fae react to their presence. This whole operation may be a huge bloody farce. The Fae Queen is the epitome of cunning. Do not let your guard down.” Ms. Yeltz responded sternly.

“Make sure to restrain them magically and physically. Use the best of the ignivite cuffs.” Another mage chirped up.

  “Wa-Wai-t-” Tiberius started.

He wanted to announce that he had nothing to do with this whole mess! After all, what had he done other than to have listened to Aurelius and his insane rant over a horribly expensive lunch! And he’d even paid for it himself! This was completely unfair for him to get involved in something of this magnitude!

Despite this welling of complaints, a simple smile completely shut him down.

It was from that terrifying MONSTER in the room.

A different commission mage kindly responded to his stuttering.

“I understand your concerns, mister…. Velcor. However, it is imperative that information is not leaked as to the nature of this report, and this… situation as a whole.”

The man was dressed in a blue cloak with several badges, suggesting a rather high rank within the commission. However, he too, seemed to be withering under the fearsome presence in the room.

The division secretary, Warden White was also present within the operations room, frozen in place. He had, as far as Tiberius had observed, not contributed a shred of wisdom to the meeting, almost as useful as a bronze statue.

Tiberius trembled slightly as the mage explained the situation. All of his previous qualms had disappeared magically! He was in no place to start demanding anything!

Aurelius melted slightly once more next to Tiberius, his stature shrinking further into nothing.

You CLAIM to have met the FAE QUEEN, and QUETZALCOATL! Should you really be acting like that in front of HER? Tiberius lamented in his brain.

He had nothing but curses for Aurelius, after his enormous contributions to him being… here.

“We’ll be moving out in 15 minutes. Please prepare all of your men.” Sage Yeltz commanded.

“Ah, and don’t forget once again. DO NOT, under any circumstance, engage the lich in combat!”

  ???

Aurelius let the commissioners cuff his hands. He had no intention of resisting. After all, they had a Sage and an Arch Sage with them.

He had been completely paralysed during the meeting that had just taken place.

He had held up his own for a while against division secretary White, and even managed to gather his wits when Sage Yeltz had entered.

However, being dragged into a strategy meeting with HER was a new experience entirely. One that he was glad to even have survived!

He and Tiberius were now being transported on a commission magi-car to the Academy.

They had apparently chosen the magi-car to transport non-critical personnel, to avoid confusing the spirits contracted for the operation, as well as to conserve the stamina of all participants.

Teleportation tended to strain travellers after all.

Even so, the “non-critical” personnel were skilled mages in their own right. Each had years of experience under their belts, being special agents of the commission, operating at the highest standard as required by them.

They were completely different from the usual commission paper-pushers. They had trained through the gruelling commission bootcamps, and each wielded magic that could level small towns by themselves.

What the fuck am I getting involved in… Curse that damn god… It’s been like 6 hours since my second revival… He lamented, his tears flowing comically down his horrid, haggard face.

He considered if he would put himself through this again in his next “loop”, or if he would just… not.

Once again grieving his horrible situation, he sank back into the hard, metallic seat in the magi-car.

It would not be long after that the magi-car arrived at the Academy.

The arrival would announce the start of a truly horrifying battle of magic. A battle between a lich, and a truly terrifying human woman.
