Chapter 65: Prelude

On this day, which was previously designated by Prince Su Wen, the Sanctuary had issued a notice that at noon, they would collectively execute more than five hundred captured rebel prisoners at the Blue Sea City central square.

"Nana, C.C. and I are going out. I'm sorry to leave you alone to watch the house." That morning, after saying goodbye to Nana, Rulu was about to leave with C.C.

Before departing, Rulu had already explained to Nana that his main purpose for going out this time was to stop the Sanctuary from executing the rebel prisoners. This operation would involve great risk, and they might return very late, or in the worst case, might not be able to return at all.

Contrary to Rulu's expectations, after learning of Rulu's intentions, Nana was surprisingly calm. She didn't throw a tantrum or make a scene like before. Just before Rulu left, Nana hugged him tightly and kissed him on the cheek.

"Rulu, you must come back safely, for your own sake and for mine, okay?" Nana looked at Rulu with a solemn expression.

"Don't worry, I'll definitely return safely," Rulu patted his chest, saying with full confidence.

"How nice, I want a hug and kiss too," C.C. said playfully, watching Rulu and Nana without any sign of tension.

Nana's face reddened slightly, and she hugged C.C. as well, saying: "Take care, C.C. If Rulu tries to do something foolish, please stop him."

"Alright, I'll try my best," C.C. said.

After that, Rulu and C.C. left the secret house together. They first went to the school Rulu had previously attended. Rulu found a small truck near the school, and after checking what was in the truck's cargo compartment, Rulu took out a pre-prepared truck key and drove towards Blue Sea City's central square.

"There seem to be fewer people in Blue Sea City today," C.C. said, sitting in the passenger seat of the small truck, looking at Blue Sea City through the window. Many shops along the streets had ceased operations, and there were far fewer pedestrians than usual. The people on the streets looked hurried, each with deep worry on their faces, as if something major was about to happen. The entire Blue Sea City was permeated with an atmosphere of unease.

Rulu said: "There are rumors that rebel forces from outside will attack Blue Sea City today. The citizens are worried that the rebels might really come, and they're concerned about being caught in the turmoil, so everyone is tense."

C.C. asked: "What's the situation on the Sanctuary's side? Have they taken any action after hearing this rumor?"

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

"The Sanctuary neither denies nor confirms these rumors. They've only strengthened Blue Sea City's defenses, deploying troops to set up defensive lines in the outskirts of Blue Sea City to resist potential attacks from external rebel forces."

"Oh, so it seems there might be a big battle in Blue Sea City today. The city will definitely become chaotic."

"Yes, I plan to use this chaos in Blue Sea City to resolve the matter between Prince Su Wen and myself. This time, C.C., you need to assist me well."

"But I don't have any special Psionic power. How can I assist you?"

"I have my own arrangements. C.C., you just need to do as I say."

  "Alright, I'll listen to you."

After a while, Rulu drove to Blue Sea City's central square. In the center of the square, a very spacious platform had been newly built. Around the platform were dense crowds of people, partly composed of Sanctuary troops and partly of ordinary citizens who had come to watch the execution.

Rulu found a spot with a good view and parked the small truck near the central square. He and C.C. stayed inside the vehicle, patiently waiting and carefully observing the activities in the square.

Suddenly, a man wearing a pink outer garment quickly walked onto the platform in the central square. He picked up the microphone on the platform and began speaking in a dry, dull voice. Immediately, his voice resonated throughout the entire square:

"Attention, everyone's attention please. Due to Governor Su Wen and Feihu General being unwell these past few days, I, Jason, will take over their duties and oversee today's execution of rebel prisoners. All military deployments and movements at the scene will be under my command. All soldiers and civilians must follow my instructions. Violators will be dealt with according to military law. Now, bring up the members of the rebel organization."

After he finished speaking, numerous soldiers appeared from somewhere, escorting a large group of people towards the central square platform. These escorted individuals all had their hands tied behind their backs and black hoods covering their heads—clearly the captured members of the rebel organization.

"As I expected, Prince Su Wen hasn't shown up. He must be hiding in some very secret location. To kill him, I first need to know his position," Rulu pondered. While thinking, he used binoculars to observe the man called Jason on the platform.

"Is that Jason, the level five Refining body Ultra-capable that Prince Su Wen brought from the Sanctuary?" Rulu carefully examined the pink-clothed man on the platform. This man appeared to be in his forties or fifties, about 1.7 meters tall, somewhat thin, and very ordinary-looking.

Although this middle-aged man called Jason was unremarkable in appearance and not particularly robust, Rulu knew that Jason was no ordinary person. He would be difficult to deal with. To find out where Prince Su Wen was hiding, he would have to start with Jason.

After a while, more than five hundred rebel prisoners were all brought onto the platform, forced to kneel down. The middle-aged man called Jason picked up the microphone again and spoke:

"The prisoners to be executed are all in place. In two hours, the execution ceremony will begin. The Governor once said that if the assassin who tried to kill him voluntarily appears and surrenders to us, he will release these prisoners without charge. I know this assassin is in Blue Sea City, possibly hiding near the square. Now, assassin, listen carefully: if you want these people to live, come out quickly. This is your last chance."
