Chapter 33: Royal Struggle

The Feihu General's face brightened with joy as he quickly said: "Thank you for your promotion, Your Highness. I will not disappoint you and will do everything in my power to accomplish this task for you."

Prince Su Wen said: "Very well then. You may leave now, and unless there's something important, don't disturb me."

"Yes, sir." The Feihu General acknowledged, then retreated from the room and exited the mansion through the main door of the living room.

After the Feihu General left, Prince Su Wen stayed in the room for a while. Later, as he walked out of the study, a figure approached him and pressed something hard and black against his lower back.

"If you want to live, don't make a sound!" a cold voice sounded behind Prince Su Wen. The prince was startled, realizing that what was pressing against his back was a gun. He immediately stood still and remained silent.

"Go sit on that chair over there." The cold voice spoke again. Prince Su Wen obediently sat down on a chair in the living room.

Light footsteps sounded, and a young man wearing a white smiling mask and holding a gun appeared before Prince Su Wen. This masked man was none other than Rulu, who had been eavesdropping outside the room earlier.

"Who are you? What do you want from me?!" Prince Su Wen tried to remain calm as he addressed the masked man.

"You seem to misunderstand the situation." Rulu lowered his voice and spoke in an emotionless tone, "Your life is in my hands, so I should be the one asking questions, not you. Understood?"

Prince Su Wen gave a cold laugh and said: "Don't you know I'm a prince of the Sanctuary? People of the Sanctuary possess powerful Psionic powers that ordinary people don't have. Do you really think you and that gun can kill me?"

Rulu also laughed: "If it were someone else, I truly wouldn't be confident that I could kill them. But you're different, Prince Su Wen. I know that Prince Su Wen is the most mediocre prince in the Sanctuary. You're only a junior Ultra-capable with almost no Psionic power. Not just me, even an ordinary person could kill you!"

Fear flashed in Prince Su Wen's eyes as he said: "Who exactly are you? Where did you hear about these things?!"

"If you don't want to die, shut up and just answer my questions!" Rulu raised his hand and pointed the gun at Prince Su Wen's head. This made Prince Su Wen compliant, and he quickly said: "Alright... I understand. Ask whatever you want to know, and I'll tell you everything."

Rulu thought for a moment. Recalling the conversation between Prince Su Wen and the Feihu General earlier, he asked: "I heard that you've come here on the Emperor's orders to find a green-haired woman. Is that true?"

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

"You already know?!" Prince Su Wen's forehead began to sweat. He thought about how the Emperor had repeatedly instructed him not to leak this matter, yet it had been exposed so quickly.

"What does that woman look like?" Rulu asked again.

"Well..." A cunning light flashed in Prince Su Wen's eyes as he said: "That woman is about 5 feet tall, rather plump, with yellowish skin, a big nose and small eyes..."

"Stop right there!" Rulu interrupted Prince Su Wen's words and said, "You're trying to lie to me, but it won't be that easy. I'll ask you one more time: What does that woman look like?"

This time, Rulu spoke in a peculiar tone, and the eyes behind the white mask gleamed with a strange light. As Prince Su Wen met his gaze, his tense expression suddenly relaxed. He lay back in the chair, calmly saying:

"The woman is about 5'6" tall, looks around seventeen years old, has an oval face, is rather slim, with fair skin and long hair..."

"It's indeed that woman." Rulu thought to himself. After hearing Prince Su Wen's description, he could confirm that the person the Emperor was looking for was the green-haired woman who had given him Spiritual-power earlier. He asked again: "What's that woman's name, and why is she so important that the Emperor must find her?"

Prince Su Wen shook his head: "I don't know. The Emperor only told me about this woman's appearance and that she possesses immortality. He didn't reveal much more information to me."

"It seems this woman is truly important if the Emperor won't even disclose much information to his own son." Rulu thought to himself. He was currently using Spiritual-power to control Prince Su Wen, and in this state, Prince Su Wen wouldn't lie to him. Rulu said: "Alright, now I want to ask you about something else."

"Go ahead," Prince Su Wen replied, appearing composed and cooperative.

"Do you know anything about the 75th Imperial Consort and her children?"

"I do," Prince Su Wen slowly said. "The 75th Imperial Consort was the Emperor's 75th wife, who was brought into the Sanctuary about twenty years ago after catching the Emperor's eye. She bore a son and a daughter with the Emperor. About seven years ago, this consort and her children were targeted by assassins. The consort and her daughter died in the assassination, but her son escaped. Shortly after the assassination, this young prince left the Sanctuary. Rumors say he was exiled by the Emperor and left to fend for himself in the outside world..."

"That's exactly right." After hearing Prince Su Wen's words, Rulu became agitated, his voice trembling: "Let me ask you one more thing: Do you know who planned that assassination? Who was behind it?!"

  "I know some details."

"Who was it?!" Rulu asked urgently.

Prince Su Wen said: "Many people were involved in this incident. Many were afraid of being exposed and didn't personally show their faces or reveal their identities. The main mastermind behind the incident is still unclear, but what's certain is that those involved in the assassination were all royal family members, mostly the Emperor's children."

"Why? Why would they kill their own family? What was the reason?!" Rulu asked through gritted teeth, angrily.

Prince Su Wen said: "At that time, the 75th Imperial Consort was the Emperor's most beloved wife, and her children, especially her son, were extremely intelligent and had a rare talent for magical Psionic power. The Emperor also intended to groom this prince as his successor, which threatened the interests of most royal family members. Many royal members worried that once this prince grew up, their status in the Sanctuary would be threatened, so they secretly plotted this assassination."

"So it was like that. These despicable villains!" Rulu said through clenched teeth, striking the wooden table beside him with his fist, making a loud "thud."
