Chapter 49: Premeditation

"Well, well, Rulu, now you're becoming someone else's boss. You're getting more and more outrageous," Shari said, pretending to be angry.

"Does Shari support me or not? If you don't support me, I can't be a proper boss," Rulu said with an ambiguous smile as he looked at Shari.

"I didn't say I don't support you. Besides, if I don't help you, you might disappear on me again. You don't care about me anyway," Shari grumbled unhappily.

Rulu grabbed Shari's shoulders with both hands, gazed at her face, and said softly: "How could that be? Shari, you are very important to me. If Shari can help me, I'll like you even more."

Shari's face turned slightly red. She didn't dare look into Rulu's eyes and lowered her head, saying: "Alright, I get it. You just know how to use sweet talk to trick me. So from now on, I'll just act as the liaison between you and Sphinx, right?"

"Yes, and I also have some other things I need to ask you to do."

  "More things? Go ahead."

"Please help me collect information about other monsters in the school, preferably those similar to Sphinx, ones with intelligence who can communicate through language."

Shari looked at Rulu in surprise and said: "Ah, Rulu, don't tell me you think one Sphinx is not enough, and you want to recruit more of these monsters as your underlings?"

"Something like that. Are you willing to help me, Shari?"

Shari felt somewhat troubled. In fact, she was not very willing to do this kind of thing, but in order to please Rulu, she still said, "Alright, I'll do it. Rulu, you must remember how good I am to you. Don't disappoint me in the future."

"Of course not. After you collect this information, send me an email to the private email address I gave you before. I'll also contact you via email if I have anything."

"Email, got it," Shari said. She blinked her eyes and looked at Rulu with an expectant expression, saying: "Um... Rulu, do you have anything else to do now? If not, why don't we go out for a walk, have dinner, and then..."

If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

"I'm sorry, Shari," Rulu interrupted her. "I have other things to do and can't stay to accompany you. I'll find a way to make it up to you in the future. So, that's it. Goodbye."

After saying this, without waiting for Shari's response, Rulu directly summoned a gust of wind and "whooshed" up to a nearby big tree. Then, using the wind, he continued to fly rapidly through the trees, soon disappearing from Shari's sight.

"Really, after asking someone for a favor, he just leaves like that. What an idiot, not considerate at all!" Shari stared at the direction Rulu had gone, not knowing what to feel.

"Good, now I have some pieces on the board, but with just this little bit of power, there's absolutely no way to contend with the Sanctuary. To deal with the Sanctuary, I must gather more and stronger forces."

After leaving the school, Rulu continued to walk aimlessly in Blue Sea City, constantly thinking about ways to deal with the Sanctuary and that Prince Su Wen.

"That's right, Captain Guan's rebels are also against the Sanctuary. If Captain Guan and his people could become my force, it would be a great help to me. But a few days ago, the Sanctuary conducted a large-scale encirclement operation against the rebels outside Blue Sea City. I don't know if Captain Guan and his team are alright. Anyway, it's still early. I might as well go check outside Blue Sea City later."

Rulu began to formulate his next move. After lunch, he drove toward the western direction of the concession area.

After the recent turmoil, the security in Blue Sea City had returned to normal, becoming very relaxed. Rulu encountered no obstacles and smoothly left Blue Sea City.

Rulu drove westward. After an hour and a half, he arrived at a place called Haitian Town outside Blue Sea City.

"I remember this Haitian Town is an area where Captain Guan and his team often operate. Perhaps I can find them here."

Thinking this, Rulu drove through the town, constantly looking around. He saw very few pedestrians on the streets. Resident houses on both sides of the street all had their doors and windows tightly shut. The doors of shops were mostly closed. Many houses in the town had collapsed or been burned down. In some secluded alleys, there were even human corpses on the ground.

"It seems this small town was attacked by the Sanctuary army a few days ago, which is why it's so desolate. I wonder where Captain Guan and his team are now and how to find them."

Rulu continued driving through the town. Suddenly, a five or six-story building by the roadside caught his attention. In front of this tall building stood a worn-out sign with the words "Great East Hotel" clearly written on it.

"That's right, this hotel is the secret contact point Captain Guan told me about before. I might find some clues here." Rulu parked his car near the hotel and carefully observed it. The hotel's main entrance was open, and it seemed to be still operating as usual.

Near the hotel, there were scattered people. Some were beggars lying on the ground sleeping, some were cleaners sweeping the ground with brooms, and some were vendors selling things. Although these people seemed normal, Rulu noticed that they seemed to be intentionally or unintentionally observing the surroundings, always paying attention to what was happening around them.
