[Eternal Incarnation]
A supernatural power was wrapped around Anos's soul.
He then felt himself in liquid, wrapped in darkness. But it was warm and he could feel the beating of a heart. The spectacular scene of colors and the feeling of infinite power vanished.
He felt as if he was breathing in water. But his consciousness wasn't consistent.
"Where am I?"
Anos felt incredibly tired. So he slept.
He would wake up occasionally, but he couldn't even open his eyes. This cycle of sleeping and waking up lasted for a long time. Until one day. He felt the opportunity to leave this situation.
That was the day he was born.
He looked around at his father and mother and was a little confused. These weren't his parents, so he hadn't went back in time. He wasn't very familiar with reincarnation.
But he did know a little bit about it. In the history books he read as part of his curriculum. There was legends of geniuses who could remember their past lives.
"So... I did die."
The first thing Anos did was begin to cultivate. Of course, he cried and lived as a baby to satisfy his parents. He didn't want them to think he was abnormal.
They named him 'Solis'.
Anos wasn't a cultivation genius. But he had his past life memories and a LOT of free time.
Within two months. He had begun to circulate spiritual energy throughout his body. He was at the first stage of Qi Condensation.
The spiritual energy was thin. But he made up for it with consistency. But something weird happened to him after becoming a cultivator. His appetite became much smaller.
"From what I know... This only starts to happen in foundation establishment. Is this world different?"
Anos found out a lot about the world from his parents talking to him. They however had no idea he understood them. It appears that there are legends of immortals in this world. But his parents have never been in contact with them. It is just seen as a fairy tale.
The problem was...
Anos was just ten years old in the God-Eye Sect. He had never been to the technique pavilion and lacked the basic foundation of exercises.
He had time.
But he lacked techniques! This meant he was in a dead-end.
"Maybe... I should've went with immortality..."
Anos shook his head. There is no medicine for regret in this world.
Anos still remembered when he entered that weird space. He remembered a special word. But he didn't know what it meant.
"What is 'eternal incarnation'?"
His questions would go unanswered. Anos couldn't ask his parents deep questions without appearing like a monster, so his knowledge of the world was limited entirely to what he managed to eavesdrop on.
This wasn't much. Anos knew however that his family was poor. The classes in this world had insurmountable distance. A mere ninth level official could have his family killed on a whim and there would be nothing he could do.
Anos lived what he considered a rather boring life. When he was a toddler, he was introduced to those around his age. Be it his neighbors or friends of the family.
But mentally...
Anos was a cultivator! Although he was young. He had the discipline of a monk. The way he was raised in his last life shaped his view and he felt it was a bit weird to entertain these children.
He may have only been ten years old when he died. But he had seen a majestic world. He had seen beings that could fly in the sky and hide in the earth. He had experienced the effects of pills that made it so one didn't even need to eat or drink. He had seen others pull things out of nowhere.
His shock factor here was incredibly low.
Anos lived in a village called Evrervoth. Everyone he knew was a commoner. There were even some with even lower status. Those being slaves. But only the head of the village had one.
The genuine version of this novel can be found on another site. Support the author by reading it there.
There was a teacher. But they only taught a single class. There was no grades. No elementary school, middle school, or high school. The village simply didn't have the systems in place for such a thing.
The real reason they were taught at all was so to learn how to read and to essentially babysit those too young to work so they wouldn't be a distraction.
Nearly everyone in this village was a farmer and they had to give half of their harvest every year to royalty. The rest they would sell themselves to afford clothes, meat, spices, etc.
Anos's parents had been saving wherever they could for years to give their son a chance to go to a city. They wanted him to break the cycle of poverty and become a big man!
By the time Anos was 14 years old.
He had shocked even himself. He had reached the third level of qi condensation. But the bottleneck between the third level and the fourth level trapped him.
Anos was a farmer just like his parents and he had been helping them manage their fields since he was eight. They seemed to have gotten blessed by the gods as their harvest always exceeded expectation.
When others had become invested with bugs. When locust swarmed the surrounding area of the village. Shockingly, Anos's family's property was untouched!
What his parents didn't know was that he guarded the fields that day. He also would cast a spell to water the entire field. This was a form of training as it allowed him to get used to having his spiritual energy drained.
Anos was worried about his future.
The lifespan of someone his level was only 150 years. But if you failed to form the foundation by 60, your odds would decrease from 30% to 1% in breaking through.
Normally, you could spend contribution points in exchange for a foundation establishment pill. This would make it so your odds of breaking through were around 70%. It also served as a safeguard to your life. If you failed to form your foundation without such a pill.
You would die in nearly every scenario.
If you failed with the pill. It would only damage your foundation and you would be able to try again years later with lower odds.
If you took multiple pills. You could further boost your odds!
But Anos had looked for clues secretly on cultivators. He hadn't come into contact with anything supernatural in this world at all. But this surprised him as could feel the spiritual energy in the environment. If it didn't exist, he never would've reached his current state.
"I should have been more focused when I was in the sect..."
"I only know four spells..."
Anos had five element spiritual roots. This made it so he could use all the basic elements. But besides this, his knowledge was lacking deeply.
He didn't need spells to generate the elements using spiritual energy. He could transform the surrounding spiritual energy into fire or even water/ice. However, converting it into earth, metal, or wood. He would need a much larger pool of spiritual energy.
There was also the fact that he lacked a dantian.
This wasn't a problem as he could form one if he succeeded in foundation establishment. But right now, he just circulated spiritual energy throughout his meridians.
The four spells he knew were:
Ice Barrier
Fireball
God Step
God-Eye Sutra
'Ice Barrier' was rather flexible. He could form a wall of floating ice to block attacks.
'Fireball' was quite strong and could form a ball of flame that exploded upon impact.
'God Step' he could jump on air using spiritual energy.
'God-Eye Sutra' this was his cultivation technique. It had many mysterious uses that covered quite a range, one of those being 'Eyes of God'.
The God-Eye sutra had a mysterious quality to it. Those with talent could peer into the future. But in reality, this was a rarity. But it could allow one to 'see' danger.
It was like another sense. The higher your cultivation. The better this 'sense' became and the more accurate it became.
There were many martial arts, cultivation techniques, and spells in the pavilion in the sect. But Anos had never been and the techniques he had were the public ones taught to every outer-sect disciple.
Normally, you get more powerful techniques in the enlightenment secret realm by studying the pillars, or you get it by contributing to the sect and exchanging them...
But Anos was only ten years old back then. He couldn't exactly risk his life fighting demonic beast, could he? Not to mention, even highly important research and self-made techniques could be exchanged for points.
He wasn't a scientist.
He was just a kid.
Time continued to go by and soon Anos was 15 years old.
His father looked at him and said:
"Solis. We have placed all our hopes on you! You must study seriously and become an official. You are the first in the last three generations of the san to attend school in Haven!"
Anos nodded.
"I won't let you down..."
Anos wasn't the type of person that could be in seclusion cultivating for decades. At most, he could spend eight hours a day meditating. He considered this an improvement versus his last life. Because before, he'd pass out after merely four hours.
The tuition for this school was a hundred silvers. This amount was enough to feed a family for a year with high quality meat. If it wasn't for the 'luck' and the quality of their harvest. They never would've been able to afford this even if you gave them another decade.
Anos wasn't alone in going to the city. He met at the gate of the village and saw some of his friends. Some were younger or older and some he hadn't seen in a long time.
"Solis!"
A man with a voice that didn't match his appearance tried to hug Anos. A mirage seemed to appear only for this person and Anos miraculously dodged. To everybody else, nothing special happened.
The person he dodged was the son of the village head. He would also be attending the school. As for the other twenty young adults? They were going to the city for various reasons.
Some to become apprentices.
Others to become laborers.
They naturally knew the opportunity of Solis. In their eyes were a glint of envy. Being able to go to a real school meant you were likely able to take the college entrance examination.
If you could become an official. You would enter a whole new world and your status would rise to an incredible level.
However...
Becoming an official wasn't in the eyes of Anos.
Neither was immortality from cultivating.
He wanted to explore the myriad of worlds! He knew from the records he had read in his last life and the lectures he had attended. The founding ancestor came from an entirely different world.
He didn't completely believe this.
Why not? Because, the ancestor was a mortal at that time! It is said that you can only truly fly at golden core. You can only survive space at nascent soul.
Anos was able to enter another world with his soul somehow. But he had an entirely new body and even had to start as a baby. But the ancestor forced open a passage from his original world to Anos's world.
Axiom had crossed over with his original body!
How could a mortal have such strength?
Anos was rather curious...
