Prologue: Welcome Back to Despair! (IV)

And Hiyoko being Hiyoko, wouldn't let this slide.

As she opened her mouth to cpback with whatever insult she was about to produce, she was interrupted by the voice of another student.

"He does have a point Ms. Saionji. Anime is an integral part of Japanese culture. Why, I wouldn't be where I am today without people like him."

Hiyoko was stunned by this intrusion into her argument.

"Moreover, I have neglected to introduce myself to our new friend. I am the Ultimate Fanfic Creator, Hifumi Yamada. I've gathered that you are the one they call 'Mr. Mitarai'? In any case-"

Before he can get another word out Hiyoko bounces back into her regur attitude.

"Hey, no one asked you, tubby! And of course, you like him, he's just as messed up as you are!"

"Tubby? I'll have you know this figure was heavily desired in medieval Europe! Additionally, have you considered the possibility that you simply ck the mental capacity to fully comprehend our interests?" He said matter-of-factly.

Hiyoko was furious now. Her face surged red.

"Screw both of you! You're nothing but a couple of degenerate losers, who use anime as some kind of sick perversion!"

"Did somebody say... perversion?" A voice came from close by.

The student who looked to be a chef walked up to us.

"Allow me to introduce myself. Teruteru Hanamura, Ultimate Cook, though I feel that Ultimate Chef suits me better. I couldn't help but overhear your tantalizing conversation. Rest assured, in matters of the desire, there is no one better suited than me."

The students looked at each other for a minute, unsure what to say. Finally, Hiyoko retaliated, in an unexpected manner.

"WAHHHH!!!" Hiyoko cried out in a distressingly loud shout.

"You're all *sob* so mean *sob* to me!"

As she continued to cry in an overly dramatic manner, the rest of the group noticed them and began to approach her.

"Well, what do we have here?" said the girl wearing the camera.

"Didn't anyone every tell you boys that you can't just hound a girl like this? You three ought to be ashamed of yourselves, look what you did to this poor, innocent girl."

She tried to console Hiyoko to no avail.

"A-Actually, we were just trying to talk to her... I just introduced myself to her and then t-these two joined in. We didn't a-actually do anything to her, r-really..." Ryota replied.

"And what? She just started crying for no reason? I swear, the nerve of you men sometimes, do you seriously think you can just do whatever you want to her and expect her to be okay with it? No, why don't you tell me who you are first? I want to know just who you think you are to be so cruel."

"I-I'm Ryota Mitarai... the Ultimate Animator." He said sheepishly.

"An animator? Hmph, I would have thought a fellow creative type to have some shred of empathy for others, I suppose I was wrong. Mahiru Koizumi, Ultimate Photographer, Though I don't intend on getting friendly with you..."

"Oh, I simply cannot bear to hear this inane drivel any longer." came a voice from the crowd.

The girl dressed in gothic attire stepped forward.

"It is quite clear that this is simply an act that she is putting on. I would have expected even the most mindless of plebians to be capable of decerning that, perhaps I have given you all too much credit. In case any of you further ck culture and do not know me, I am Celestia Ludenberg, but please call me Celeste. I am the Ultimate Gambler, and I can call a bluff from miles away." Celeste said, sounding bored.

"I must agree" said Mukuro "It may not be as obvious as Celeste makes it sound, but it is clear to me that her face cks the conviction of someone who is truly in emotional distress."

Hiyoko became shakier, had everyone actually turned against her?

"Come on, do you guys really believe that? Don't you have a heart? Doesn't it feel bad to see your own cssmate like this?" Mahiru argued back.

Celeste was quick with a reply "No. Not at all in fact. This world has no pce for weak people such as Hiyoko. One must put up with the problems life gives them, or they will cease to be a functioning human. It is quite simple in fact. Perhaps she is simply weaker than we are. A truly inferior being, it is a shame."

"Celeste... please shut up." said Mahiru, monotonically "You are nothing but a liar and a cheat, who are you to tell others that they are inferior? If anything, you're the lowest one here, at least everyone else here earned their talents as opposed to just maniputing others for their own good!"

"A cheat? I have only used my natural luck to win my games. Perhaps you are incapable of understanding that? Are you that dull?" she begins to slowly approach Mahiru, staring her down "Take it back. Or maybe you will see just how weak you are..."

While they argued back and forth, getting closer to each other, Ibuki and Sayaka attempted to calm them down.

"Woah! Ibuki thinks this is getting way too wild! Let's all just calm down and be friends again!"

"Maybe there are other ways to settle this? Violence won't get us out of this." Sayaka said.

As the girls argued on, apparently still at a stalemate, Ryota began to try and sneak away, feeling overwhelmed by what was going on. As he tried to exit the room, he was blocked by an imposing figure.

"The fuck do you think you're going?" shouted the biker kid "Name's Mondo Owada, and I don't give a damn whether you meant to make her cry or not! What kind of guy makes a girl cry like that and doesn't even apologize?!"

He yelled this as prepared to strike Ryota with his fist. But before he could react, he was blocked by an equally towering presence.

"Mondo, c'mon man! What is this? You can't go around hitting your cssmates when they can't defend themselves! Maybe you need to be taught a lesson instead!" he roared.

"Nekomaru? You wanna go?! Bring it punk!" he yelled back.

The two began to go at each other, attempting to strike and grapple one another but seeming to be pretty evenly matched.

During their conflict Ryota was completely disheveled and just tried to dive under a desk to hide. However, that space was already occupied by Mikan, who he had invertedly fallen on top of.

"A-Ah!" She seemed shocked at his sudden positioning, however, he also appeared equally surprised.

"O-oh! I-I-I'm sorry, I-I didn't mean to... I was just..." he got off of her and remained under the desk looking down at the ground and trying to keep himself together.

"I-It's ok." She responded "Even if it was on purpose, I'm used to it... p-plus, it didn't feel bad when you were doing it..." she added softly.

Ryota didn't respond, he looked out at the scene that was unfolding.

Ibuki and Sayaka trying to stop Celeste and Mahiru from fighting...

Mondo and Nekomaru grappling with each other...

Taka trying in vain to regain control of the room...

Hiyoko still on the ground but with a look of malice rather than sadness...

Hifumi and Teruteru being cornered by the crowd...

Mukuro, Chihiro, the delinquent boy, and the sword girl standing away from the scene, either in fear, apathy, or a sense of not knowing what to do...

And he and Mikan under the desk...

It was truly a sight to behold. Thankfully, before the climax could be reached, an announcement cut through the ruckus of the room. Bring loud enough to be heard over the noise.

A siren noise sounded "STOP! STOP IT! EVERYONE STOP!!!"

They did as the bear instructed. The noise and violence ending in a second.

"Finally! Now, if you're gonna kill each other, do it after the orientation! I'm still trying to set up, so why don't you go have a bath or something for now... actually, puhuhuhu, why don't you outside and get some fresh air, that'll surely calm your nerves, no? And if I see any of you fighting again before orientation, you'll be punished! Capisce? The nerve..." he said before the screen went dark.

"You heard those orders! No more fighting! Let us do as we were instructed and go outside!" Taka said after regaining the attention of everyone.

"He said we could also take a bath, no? I would prefer that. I believe the filth of these imbeciles has spread to me." Said Celeste.

"I guess he did... Well then let us engage in communal bathing before our entrance ceremony!" Taka replied.

"Now that I reconsider it, I am too pure to be contaminated by such low-ranking individuals. Time outdoors is a fine way to spend a day." She said before walking out of the room, being followed by Taka and some of the others.

But Ryota and a few other students chose to stay for a while...
