The speaker read a detailed report about me containing information I didn't even know about. It was safe to assume they'd been watching my every move since I came to this world, but... How do they know my age? My birthday was just around the corner before I was transported, so it raised a lot of questions and concerns. Were they the ones who summoned me? His next words, however, would soon capture my attention,
"You shall number yourself among the Apostles from this day henceforth." The panel of judges we were facing arose from their thrones and gave a standing ovation. They all wore dark, hooded robes, so I couldn't see their expressions or make out much of anything in the room. It really gives off those secret cult vibes, y'know? A circle of thrones surrounded us, and the speaker, who stood before them seemed... familiar.
"Dartinius, what about the other one?" A female voice asked.
He looked completely different. His long blonde hair and bewitching red eyes were in stark contrast to his stereotypical noble disguise. It almost made me wonder if he had a true appearance as he began to read his report about Lucia, who had been clinging to me the entire time. I know, Lucia. I'm scared, too, I thought to myself while resisting the urge to pat her head.
"Name: Lucia,
Age: 23,
Level: 87,
Css: Sage,
Skills: Mana Overcharge"
23?! My cute little OP Sage is older than me... "I feel like you're thinking something really rude right now," She whispered with an exasperated look on her face. H-how did she know?!
"You shall number yourself among the Apostles from this day henceforth." Another standing ovation. I was still in the dark as to what this all meant. I reasoned they'd fill us in on the details eventually, but a part of me wished to remain in ignorance. The collective pressure they were releasing made the air feel like lead. It was a miracle we were even still standing!
Whoever or whatever they're fighting against must really be something, I thought to myself as I scanned the room once more. And that man... The cold intensity in his heterochromatic eyes, his majestic stride, and that overpowering aura. Why does he want me as his Apostle? And what does he know about me? As I considered these things, the female voice I heard earlier said,
"We like the small girl. We'll train her." Small girl? I'm 21! I protested internally.
"Cassandra, she's mine!" Isis?!
"Let's fight to decide, then," She suggested quite innocently, but Isis had other ideas,
"W-well, I believe we should respect her wishes!"
The woman called Cassandra removed her hoodie, revealing a beautiful, pale white face with enthralling crimson eyes. "Well? Don't you want to come with us?" She asked with an enchanting smile.
"Don't let her charm you, Daphne!" Isis said as she removed her hoodie. "Come with me instead!" I didn't particurly like the glint in either of their eyes, so I relied on chance to make my choice. Please be a good teacher! Please be a good teacher! I thought as I closed my eyes with one hand while spinning my index finger around. Whoever it nded on would be my teacher, and when I opened my eyes...
"I'm so gd to have you." It was the sweetest voice I'd ever heard, the owner of which revealed her face as soon as our eyes met. A mia! I almost voiced my thoughts in surprise as she approached me. Csping both of my hands in hers, she smiled and said, "I'll be your teacher from now on." It was so strange. She had only touched my hand, but I felt like my heart was about to burst out of my chest with how loudly it was thumping. I wanted to devote my entire life to her on the spot. I knew it was irrational, but I could do nothing but be swallowed up by my emotions. H-how terrifying...
"Tamara, could you tone down your passive skill?" Cassandra hissed with her arms crossed.
"Oh, I'm so sorry!" She quickly apologized and as she did so, I suddenly felt the strange influence weaken. "It's always active for some reason," She said with a goofy smile, which did nothing to assuage my fears. Am I going to be alright? "Don't worry, I won't drive you insane," She tried to reassure me.
"Y-you can read minds?" I asked hesitantly.
"No, but I could guess what you were thinking from your face," She said with a kind smile. She had this warmth to her that couldn't be described with words. In a few moments of talking to her, you'd feel like she was your closest friend, but it was all the effects of a terrifying skill I didn't even want to know. "Our training will start from today," She said as she began to drag me along. On the way out, I heard Cassandra say,
"Sage girl, you're not exactly our type, but we feel great potential within you. We happen to know a little magic ourselves, so we'll train you from this day onward." I don't know why, but I felt relieved to hear her say that Lucia was 'not her type.' I felt like my cute little Sage had escaped a fate worse than death, but as I stared down the dark pathway, I couldn't help but wonder what was in store for me.
