Hey all, another glossary for those who want to know more about the world of Atmaria. The third actual chapter will be posted, so don't worry there will be a chappy for all you horny fucks :)
(P.S: Siris will be getting a friend here in the near future, so look forward to it!)
Anyway, onto the glossary!
Skill Tomes: Books rarely looted from magical creatures or dungeons. Will contain either a specific skill or a random skill of a certain type.
Formican: A race of insectile humanoids with ant-like bodies. Four arms, two pntigrade legs, and six compound eyes. Are often born with a specific purpose in mind, and are beholden to their Queen, though not quite a hive-mind.
Steelwater Bay: The site of one of the most devastating magical disasters in recent history. Was a thriving trading hub before being overrun by the revenant formican hive.
Collegium of Libram: A massive organization based on the study and preservation of all knowledge. Boasts the most prestigious magical academy on the continent of Atn. Also has one of the most powerful militaries in the world, however they are staunchly neutral in any external conflict.
Atn: Largest continent on Atmaria, home to several rge nations. Shaped roughly like Pangea once was.
Capt. Johan Saltfiend: Once an infamous pirate captain, has since retired after losing his leg to a soulfin barracuda. Now works as a naval mercenary and transport, on contract with the Collegium.
Revenant: A creature that has died, but has been bound to their body through a specific object, often an enchanted nail or weapon. In the case of hive creatures, the Queen or King of the hive would be the only one with the binding object. Cws and fangs inflict magical necrosis at even the slightest touch. Can be sin through sufficient physical trauma or destruction of the bound object.
Mana Crystal: A type of gemstone that forms when incredibly high concentrations of mana saturate mundane stone.
Mage Quartz: A variant of mana crystals, instead formed of pure mana taking physical form.
Rarity: Rarities are the approximate power or value of an object according to the system. Ranks go from: Common, with mundane items such as steel swords and leather armour. Uncommon, as with most magical ingredients and simple magic items. Rare, as in difficult to create or powerful magic items. Epic, as with many items with numerous powerful enchantments or that grant temporary skills or spells. Artifact, for items, for items that grant multiple temporary skills and spells as well as containing numerous powerful and difficult to create enchantments. Heroic, for items that are stronger than artifacts but not quite one of a kind. Mythical, for items that are nigh-impossible to create by mortals and are once in a lifetime creations by masters of their craft. And Divine, for creations only made possible by gods or other equivalent beings such as Primordials or ancient demons. Any drawbacks or ‘faults’ to an items power will reduce its rarity in the eyes of the system, with sufficient drawbacks bringing it down an entire or possibly multiple entire ranks. Ex: A ring that makes you invincible would be Heroic, however if that came at the cost of taking all the damage at once afterward then it would drop to Epic.
Item Type: What type of an item it is. Weapons will be cssified on their primary damage type, with casting focuses having an extra tag. Materials will not have tags. Armour will be cssed on what part, ex: Gloves, torso (Armour), accessory, etc.
Well, that's it for this glossary! See ya soon~
