SIXTEEN: Gilly and Familys History

From what she had heard so far, her mother's name was Elna, and she was part of the elven royal bloodline, being the queen from around four hundred years ago. Her mother had siblings such as Elim, who was the wife of Valmor. Elin, the current elven queen. Iylin, a niece to Seras, who was her grandaunt. Gramil, who was the head commander of the elven army. her mother's brother, Zyn, the leader of the dark elves. and Catharine, another of her grandaunts, the mother of Iylin and his sister Snow. Somarina was the last of her aunt Elna's eldest sister. She disappeared along with the elven artifact. The sword of wisp and willow appearing much later up north in another continent.

There were other elves of royal blood, but they were too insignificant for Mizin to mention. She only respected the strong.

Gilly, following the story, understood that since her mother betrayed the elven court and principle by having a child with a human, she was not considered royal blood. But since the reformation after Elna disappeared, this law was removed. Although the law no longer stands, elves still kept this as an unspoken rule.

She understood why Benny the queen's envoy treated the town with so much contempt, seeing it was a breeding ground for halflings. The story went further to describe how Elnor was founded by her mother a few years after the second dragon war ended. And this duty of guarding the town was taken up by Elim after Elna disappeared. Now since Elim's death, Seras has been the one guarding the town, although this was a secret only among the town leaders.

The more information she got, the stranger the memories she had became. For they were about strange places and objects that do not exist in this world, best to her knowledge. Moreover, the more she listened, the more her head began to pound; the pain was to the point she almost passed out.

She tried to remember, but there was nothing coming forth, even with the information she was getting. Ephini observed this with curiosity; she knew a lot about magic, and the signs she was seeing were a possibility of memory concealment.

“Lord, I think we will get nowhere with this; it seems like her memory is sealed.”.

Mizin paused for a moment, then frowned.

"I wonder why she did that; was it to protect her? Anyway, I can think of any other explanation”.

She sighed, though she was excited seeing at least Elim’s children, who were Ephini and Zin. She had seen and even taught the demon duo, which were Robert and Historia’s; now she was seeing Gilad’s and Elna’s children.

The fact she could not remember anything about her past unfortunate.

“Then I will now explain why you should be careful of the queen.”.

The royal family had two daughters and a son before the last king, Funri, ascended to become a pseudo spirit. Though some of the names have been long forgotten, some are still remembered.

The first daughter was elegant, having white hair and fair skin. She was the mother of Snow, the leader of the council, and her brother, Iylin, leads the first province of Winter Hut, located in the North just after the capital. The second daughter was Gilly’s grandmother, who became a pseudo spirit just after six hundred years. She had five children.

The first was Somarina. She left the dynasty after the coup and founded a new Elven kingdom up north called Elior. This is located after Loatim, just before Haven Pass, on the Scattered Lands. The second was a son named Garamil, who was the leader of the Elven royal guards and led the pursuit of the former queen during The Purge. The third was Elna, Gilly’s mother. She was chased down by the entire dynasty for having a Halfling child with a human, which was considered a taboo among elves. The fourth, a son named Zyn, who founded the dark elf kingdom in the south, which has a good relationship with Abil and other demon lords.

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

The last was the brat who wanted the throne for herself; this was Elin. Elin had planned all The Purge and coup with some outside help. She had a bad reputation because since she ascended the throne, it had been a disaster for all who experienced the draconic war and the Purge. Ephini's face contorted on hearing the name Elin.

The last child of King Funri was Seras. This came as a surprise to Valmor and Ephini, as they did not know their root; their grandmother barely talked about it. They only knew her as Grandmother; Elim also did not mention anything about it before her death. Elim was Seras' only child and the wife of Valmor, who died years ago when she was attacked by an unknown entity and had to burn her soul to save the half-elves she had rescued from slavery.

Gilly did not look away; she listened carefully to Mizin, surprised she was royal blood.

No one in the royal family bore a grudge against you. In fact, if Snow and Garamil found out she was still alive, they would take her under their wing since they had been secretly searching for her for over four hundred years. They were not able to save their sister, but at least they can protect her child.

Gilly was quiet for a moment before asking an overarching question.

“Will Elin try to kill me?”.

  Mizin nodded.

“But not for the reason you think, and it also is another reason that Snow and Garamil might stand on neutral ground in your case.”.

Valmor and Ephini bowed their heads. They expected this from Mizin, but the fact that she had not mentioned it for almost five days showed she had other plans concerning Gilly.

Ephini knew what Mizin said; she had hit the truth, but now she had to say it.

  “Gilly...,”

She felt guilty for a moment, then she gathered the courage to tell her

  “You are an Otherworlder!”.

The power Gilly had used to face Zatrynx was Soul Burn, a royal family technique used to gain power at the expense of one’s soul. But yet Gilly was still alive. Valmor knew this was only a fact, but if she survived, it meant she was equivalent to an original other worlder. These were entities that existed before the primordial ones, the first beings of creation by the goddess of life.

Gilly took in the entire conversation, knowing her life was now facing more danger. When it came to the topic of otherworlders, there were different points of view. Some worshiped them, others revered them, as in the case of the vampire king. Some hated them to the point of killing them on sight, and that was the case of the elves.

Mizin was the only one who did not seem bothered by the fact.

“Child, don’t worry; only those who have reached a demigod rank can sense your aura, so provided you do not use your magic in the capital,. Secondly, in order to not worry at all, there is one option.”

Valmor smiled, but soon his face was sour when he realized the second option.

  “you can become my disciple.”

Ephini smiled; it was weird, stuck between nervousness and happiness.

  “Disciple,”

  She repeated,

  “Is Zin your disciple?”

This word caused Valmor and Ephini to tense up; Mizin had a weird relationship with her disciple Zin. She had asked him to marry Ariel, but he refused and had been avoiding her since. Her word was absolute to her disciples, but Zin had defied it without batting an eye.

  “Yes, he is.”

She smiled as she responded to Gilly, but she knew there was more to that smile.

  “so…?”

Gilly hesitated, then nodded to Mizin's request.

Mizin laughed seeing her expression. The only expression she used to tease Elna was now on Gilly's face. She patted her on the head like a mother adoring her child; she smiled.

After a few updates concerning their departure to the capital for the council meeting, Valmor led Gilly out to get food while Ephini and Mizin went towards the office.

“Ephini, a man who is wearing a turban and a jacket, his name is Kabir, and he is at the sparring field; go fetch him for me.”

She bowed and left, leaving Mizin walking in the hallway.

  ...

A dark-skinned man was eating a fig under a small tree when he was approached by an elf having golden hair and pupils.

  "Are you Kabir?”

This question was met by a sour response.

  “who you…?”

Ephini, who was familiar with such kinds of people, smiled before answering.

“The Lord asked me to fetch you,”

He paused chewing on the fruit at hand. A raccoon popped out of his turbine looking at Ephini.

  “Are you the new chief?”

She did not answer; she just smiled. He had just disrespected the chief of the town, and worst was that she was Zin’s elder sister.

“I'm so sorry for how I responded earlier.”

He got up and bowed, knowing his limit. He feared his master and Zin more than he feared the sea. Ephini had heard of Kabir, and though she had heard great things, seeing him was rather disappointing.
