1. Oh, a Magikarp! *Evolution Noises*

Sabrina was currently sitting on a comfortable wooden chair.

In front of her, on a wooden table, lay two items.

The setup was a mix between a dining room and a kitchen.

Her attention was entirely focused on the two items.

One was a device that seemed like a hybrid between a forearm guard and a smartphone.

It appeared to be specifically designed to fit on the forearm, held in place by two bracelet-like bands.

Its design featured the typical Pokédex colour scheme—mostly red with some black accents.

It had a camera on the side, cross buttons, a power button, and other standard features.

The second item, however, caught her attention the most.

It was a booklet, about ten pages thick.

The cover depicted a beautifully drawn scene of mountains, forests, and rivers, but with little wildlife.

The title read, “Introduction to the World of Pokémon: Personalised Edition!”

In the bottom-right corner, the words, “-Written by Arceus” were printed, as if it were the most normal thing in the world.

After sitting there dumbfounded for a moment, Sabrina sighed deeply and opened the booklet.

Chapter One: Welcome to the World of Pokémon, Sabrina Belford!

Your background is as follows: You come from Unova and are tasked with managing the Belford property, which’s Belford Family you are part of.

The land is vast, and your responsibilities include running the Berry Ranch—a farm for cultivating berries and raising Pokémon.

Currently, you are twelve years old and will turn thirteen in two months.

You have not yet started a journey or received a starter Pokémon.

  Chapter Two: Your Land

The plot of land you own is extensive.

You are located south of Celadon City, with the ocean to the south.

A large portion of this land belongs to you because no one else has claimed it.

The soil is optimal for growing various plants.

Additionally, an invisible ward protects the area, keeping dangerous Pokémon out for now.

Grass-type Pokémon, in particular, will thrive here.

  Chapter Three: Catching Pokémon

While there’s not much to explain about catching Pokémon, keep this in mind:

Catching a Pokémon doesn’t guarantee its friendship or trust.

You can keep as many Pokémon as you like on your farm, bypassing the usual legal limits.

This exception only applies to the keeping of Pokémon.

Catching Pokémon that are restricted by regional laws is still prohibited.

  Chapter Four: The Berries

Your ranch currently has six types of berries, either native to Kanto or brought out of Unova:

-Oran Berry: A unique taste with universal healing properties.

-Pecha Berry: Sweet and effective at detoxifying.

Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.

-Nanab Berry: Bitter-sweet and calming, making Pokémon easier to catch.

-Sitrus Berry: Mild in flavor, with better healing properties than the Oran Berry, though it requires more care.

-Lum Berry: A versatile berry that cures most status conditions and is highly valued by local Gym challengers.

-Hondew Berry: A tangy mix of bitter and spicy flavors. Eating it raw slightly reduces special attack power but is great for making friends with Pokémon.

  Chapter Five: Your Home

Inside your house, you’ll find shelves filled with various Books:

Cooking books and ingredient/habitat knowledge in the dining/kitchen room. General knowledge in the lounge.

Most other in the study room.

Take your time to acclimate to this new world of Pokémon.

You also should register as a User in your Pokédex.

The initial password is 9876—be sure to change it afterward.

  Chapter Six: Equipment

To help you get started, you’ve been provided with some equipment to ease your workload.

This includes machines for processing berries and other useful gadgets.

-A TM machine for creating your own TMs for sale.

-A safe-keeper machine to store Poké Balls in stasis, with a portable pouch for the same purpose.

-A bag with increased capacity (a common but expensive item in this world).

-An automatic marketing machine that allows you to sell products directly, even if there’s a quantity limit.

  Chapter Seven: Vanessa’s Pokémon

You have been asked to house the Pokémon of a girl named Vanessa.

Her Pokémon will be under shared ownership when sent to your ranch.

Vanessa has great potential, and I wish to see her flourish.

You and Vanessa are considered distant cousins, though your shared ancestry traces back generations.

If you don’t want to take her Pokémon, that’s fine—it won’t significantly impact her.

However, while they’re on your ranch, you can ask her Pokémon for help with your work.

Good luck in this different, but hopefully wonderful world.

  -Arceus

Sabrina blinked as she finished reading and sat there in stunned silence.

After a moment, she shook herself from her daze, stood up, and walked to the door leading to the hallway.

Before leaving, she turned back and grabbed the Pokédex, registering herself as a user and setting a password she wouldn’t forget.

As she stepped outside, she was greeted by a breathtaking view.

Near the house, trees and bushes formed a beautiful landscape.

Oran berries grew on large bushes, Sitrus berries on trees resembling lemon trees, and Nanab berries clustered near the crowns of other trees.

Not far from her, a crystal-clear stream flowed peacefully, as if it originated from a mountain spring.

In the water, she spotted some Poliwag playing in tiny groups, Feebas hiding in the shadows of overhanging plants, and a few Magikarp.

One Magikarp, in particular, caught her attention.

It poked its head out of the water, seemingly watching her.

The crown-like ornament on its head bore a faint scar, as if from a freshly healed wound.

Curiosity overtook Sabrina. She slowly reached out her hand toward its head.

The Magikarp didn’t react, reminding her of a Slowpoke.

But just before she could touch it, the Magikarp began to glow.

Stunned, Sabrina squatted at the edge of the water, her mind racing.

She suddenly remembered what Magikarp evolved into and the fearsome reputation of Gyarados.

Panicking, she turned and sprinted away.

It was too late. The glowing silhouette rapidly expanded as the light faded.

A mighty Gyarados emerged, its face twisted in anger.

It let out a deafening roar, asserting its dominance.

All the Pokémon nearby scattered in terror.

The force of the roar knocked Sabrina off her feet.

Looking back, she saw the other Pokémon either fleeing or hiding deeper in the vegetation.

The Gyarados locked eyes with her, and Sabrina froze as an immense weight seemed to press down on her shoulders, preventing her from running.
