Ch. 51 – Jasper

  *Alice's POV

So stupid! Never, in my hundred and sixty four years of being a vampire, I had to check the result of my decision personally. Just why 't I fug see her?! I was fuming internally, cheg about a tweh possible future, trying to find a spot from which I could watch Carlisle's hospital without a risk of being found. Every time someoher actally spotted me or caught my st. I usually couldn't see Jasper so whenever my visio suddenly dark. I k was him who'd find me.

After maybe ten more attempts I finally found a safe spot a up into a of an old oak. Hidden in the mass of leaves I had a nice view of the hospital entrance. I knew Rosalie would bring her here. Wind was carrying my st in a dire, in whieither of them would catch it when arriving to the hospital t with Rosalie when leaving again.

The two left shortly after Jasper with Emmett arrived, but Jasper and his right hand, Peter, both stayed ihat meant only ohing. That bitch survived?! I was sure that I used enough force that in bination with the length of the staircase she'd fall would kill any human. What the fuck is she?! I was furious.

Actally breaking the branch I was holding onto, I scared a raven that was sitting close by. The bird fpping its ebony wings in the air reminded me too much of the blind whore, messing with the man I chose for myself. In an instant I made a small, spear-like on from the piece of wood left in my hand, using my long sharp nails as a tool.

When I leased with the sharpness of the tip I threw it and with satisfa watched the bird fall from the sky as the wood pierced its heart. Why the fuck 't she die as easily? I hated her simply for existing for as far as I was ed, she should at all.

  *Jasper's POV

"Jasper..?" I would have never believed how much happiness it could brio hear my name. Like I felt now, finally hearing Annabell's voice again.

"Annabell!" I was so happy, that I embraced her. Momentarily fetting all about her injuries. Quickly but gently letting go of her when I heard her quiet whimper. "I'm so sorry, angel!" She caught me, embrag me back. Little awkwardly, as her left arm was restrained by a splint, but firmly. I held her with more care now, pullienderly clain. "I thought I lost you..."

"I take it you remember him now?" Chuckled Peter o us.

"Yes! I remember everything." Mumbled Annabell into my shoulder, clutg my shirt with her retively unharmed right hand. "I'm sorry, Jay. I love you so much! It was incredibly strao not know who you are..." She sobbed.

"It's alright, my love. Everything is alright now." I soothed her, stroking her hair, feeling overjoyed.

Staying in each others arms for a moment, she then slowly released me and slightly fused faced Carlisle. "I-I didn't fall. Someone pushed me." Trying to hold my a bay, thinking about atempt on my mate's life I ched my hand in fist.

"I know, angel. I didn't want to stress you anymore than you were, when you didn't remember." I told her apologetically.

"I'm terribly sorry, it's been members of my family that put you through all of this, Annabell." Stepped Carlisle closer, apologizing. He was truly sorry, feeling disappoi a. I couldn't imagine having your own family to betray you like Edward with Alice did to him. "There is nothing that could excuse what they've doo you."

"Thank you for treating me, Dr. Cullen." She gave a small smile before she asked fused. "But what do you mean?"

"It was Alice who pushed you down those stairs. A girl I io my home and loved as a daughter for nearly a tury. While she seems to had been plotting with Edward behind my back all along." Carlisle's handsome face twisted in a grimace of sadness arayal.

"Fortunately, Rose saw her and immediately brought you here." I told Annabell. Even though I wished she'd tell me right away, I was grateful to her. "Acc to Rosalie, Alice wants you dead for some reason." Recalling our first meeting with the psycho, when she looked like she'd jump around my neck, any sed. Now it was me, who wao jump around hers. To tear her crazy head off.

"The reason is pretty obvious, don't you think? It's a revenge for Edward." ented Annabell. Peter gave me one of his looks but didn't say anything.

"Let's fet them for a while. How do you feel, angel? Your power seem to have healed you somewhat, but not pletely." The stitched cut on her head ractically healed but her bruises didn't disappear yet and I saw her wince every so often as she tried to move about.

"Yes, it did. I have quite a few injuries, not to mention broken bones... My power is healing me. Even if I leave it on its own, I'll heal way faster than any other person would. But if I force it to heal myself too fast, I risk pletely exhausting myself." Expined Annabell.

"No, take it slow, please. You o rest, my love." I said taking her hand in mine. I didn't want to think about her falling unscious again. Much less anything worse.

"Don't rush it, Annie. From what I know, yood to graduate so there shouldn't be a problem with you staying home for a while." Agreed Peter, taking hold of her other hand. She smiled at the both of us, happy.

"ht, the graduation is soon. Dr. Cullen, I go home?" Asked Annabell, hopeful.

"Please, call me Carlisle. sidering your healing power, I don't see why not. All I do for you now is to provide you with painkillers if necessary. However from the look of it, they don't seem to help you much. Rosalie brought you in such a bad shape I gave you morphine right away. It should have sted few more hours longer but from what I tell by watg you, it doesn't seem to have any effe you at all." He thought for a moment. "Anyway, with that arm and leg, you'll need help until the fractures heal. Are you sure you want to leave the hospital already?"

"That's ok." I told Carlisle. Then I turo Annabell. "If you let me." Her smile widened and she nodded.

"There actually might be something I do for you. I talk to school on your behalf if it's alright with you?"

I gently picked Annabell into my arms. "I'd appreciate that. Thank you Carlisle." She turo the dain and then we were on our way home.

  *

"You know, it's ok if you run." She said jokingly, after a while when I kept walking through the woods at a human paot wanting to put more stress on her body.

"Are you sure it's ok? I don't want to cause you more pain, angel." I tered, ed. "Or... maybe I just want to keep you in my arms longer." I teased her. Although, it was also true.

"Thank you." She kissed my cheek. "I may not be invincible like you but I manage." I felt anything but invincible while she was lying motionless in a hospital bed.

A mischievous smile appeared on her lips. "Besides, who said you o let go of me whe home?" She asked, snuggling into me even more.

A quiet rumbling sound vibrated through my chest in te. Then I remembered something. "Peter, did you find the car yet?" I enjoyed carrying Annabell in my arms but for what I had pnned, different way of transportation was needed."Sure thing." He grinned."What for?" Annabell was curious. "Where are you going?""We." I corrected her. "That's a surprise for another day, my love." That slightly disappointed her."I don't like surprises." She admitted quietly."Don't worry, you will like this one." I reassured her.

"Hmmm." She did not trust me on that. I only hoped she would enjoy what I had in mind for her. "Just so you know... if you told me you saw me kill a vampire, I'd believe you way easier."

Pulled me Annabell from my thoughts. "Huh?" Her ent was little ued so it took me a moment to realize what she was referring to.

"If you told me you saw me use my power rather than that I used it on you, I would find it more believable." She was fiddling with her fingers feeling ashamed. "I umm... it pissed me off. I was so sure you are messing with me that I wao prove y by attag you at the time. And I was sure it would kill you if you didn't lie about being a vampire." Admitted Annabell, hiding her face.

I stopped walking. "Don't worry about it anymore. You didn't know. And even if you did attack me, it wouldn't kill me."

"But I was sure it would, at the time. I pted killing you both, you and Carlisle." Remarked Annabell. Her voice quiet with hint of reseo her own thoughts. Little worried she'd try to find a way to save me from herself again, I looked at Peter for help.

"Annie." He put his hand on her shoulder in f manner. "Don't beat yourself over it. You didn't remember anything about them at the time aed just the way you were traio. Chris would be proud of you, just like I am." Said Peter smiling. "You didn't hurt either of them in the end and you finally remember everything. You should be proud of yourself now as well."

A tear rolled down her cheek but she felt happy, making me smile too as she smiled at Peter. "Thank you. Both of you." Feeling grateful too, I o Peter and kissed the top of Annabell's head.

"Anyway, I'll run ahead and check the house before you get there. Then I'll get to the search for the bitch. She will regret the day she decided to mess with the Whitlock family." He stated and I couldn't agree more.
