Chapter 114 – Calm Returns to Lilt Forest

After flying high into the sky, System found dozens of gnolls one kilometer away just as he'd expected. He also saw a familiar gnoll warrior.

It was the sturdy gnoll that had used a wooden javelin to pierce System's body back when bck smoke had spread across Lilt Forest after the volcanic eruption.

Although the gnoll's hair wasn't dyed bck by volcanic ash like before, his sturdy body, height greater than an ordinary gnoll's, and unique expression let System know that this gnoll was the same one that had attacked him.

The sturdy gnoll was much cleaner than back in Lilt Forest, which allowed System to see that its hair color was much lighter than usual for a gnoll. Near its neck, there was a ring of golden hair like a lion's mane, which looked very majestic.

However, when System stared at the gnoll's golden scarf, he didn't think about the gnoll's majesty. He only wondered if all that hair made the gnoll feel hot in this warm weather.

System didn't have much time to think. He suddenly had an inexplicable feeling, and his [Intuition] sent out a warning again. He watched as the sturdy gnoll stopped moving forward and turned its head to look in System's direction.

This gnoll was like the Lord of Gciers. System didn't know what ability the gnoll had, but it could sense that System was looking at it.

System immediately turned away from the gnoll and quickly flew to a different location.

He no longer looked directly at the gnoll and switched to using his various long-range scanning methods. He then used the video data recorded in the [Data Bank] in his [Tools Menu] to indirectly observe the gnoll's movements.

Because System was several thousand meters above the gnolls and had also used [Morphological Camoufge] to change his body's color to match the light blue of the sky, the sturdy gnoll couldn't find any trace of him. The gnoll frowned and gave up on its search, then continued leading the more than thirty gnolls into the depths of the Warren Pins.

The crisis seemed to have passed now that the gnoll couldn't sense System's gaze. However, System had thoughts of his own. Repay kindness with kindness, and repay cruelty with cruelty.

He wanted revenge—revenge for the spear that had pierced his body and revenge for the gnolls that had chased him.

System fpped his wings and flew to an altitude of nearly ten thousand meters with the help of the wind, then flew directly above the gnoll team.

Although he was observing the gnolls according to the videos in his [Tools Menu], System's vision was still clear, allowing him to unch his [Pgue Mucus] accurately.

  Puff! Puff! Puff!

Three balls of dark purple mucus were fired straight down from the sky. However, the mucus strayed more than ten meters from System's intended targets.

The wind on the grassnd was very strong, and the wind at high altitudes didn't blow in the same direction as the wind near the ground. Moreover, because he was being extremely cautious, System had flown extremely high.

He needed to spit his [Pgue Mucus] more than ten times before a lucky shot finally nded on a gnoll's body. When the mucus hit, it also spttered all over the rest of the gnoll team due to the force of the fall.

There was a small commotion among the gnolls, but while the [Pgue Mucus] possessed a certain degree of corrosiveness, it didn't cause them any obvious damage. The gnoll team quickly continued on their way and left.

  ...

System, who was familiar with the power of his [Pgue Mucus], knew that it might not kill the strong gnoll warrior. However, it would definitely cause a lot of trouble for the other gnolls.

He quickly descended from his height of ten thousand meters. He didn't pn to keep following the gnolls to see what would happen to them once his [Pgue Mucus] took effect.

In fact, the gnoll had only attacked System because of its vigince in the wild, which wasn't much different from a hunter catching prey.

Although the toad that System had encountered soon after waking up in this world had almost taken his life, he had never considered getting revenge afterward. Perhaps he would choose to kill the toad if he encountered it again, but he wouldn't deliberately go looking for it.

Due to this, he didn't feel much pleasure in taking revenge on the gnoll.

System slowly descended from the sky. He pnned to recycle the [Pgue Mucus] that he'd fired at the gnolls. The attacks had consumed half of his total mucus, and it would take him a whole day to fully recover.

However, he suddenly discovered something while flying toward the ground that made him stop and hover in the air.

Something was different about Lilt Forest.

The snow that was mixed with bck volcanic ash had slowly begun to melt, and System could now see scattered green in Lilt Forest. The forest seemed to be coming alive again now that the snow was melting.

He also saw thousands of soldiers wearing bright silver armor and carrying bows and arrows on their backs more than a thousand kilometers away from the Lilt Forest's border.

The soldiers' ears seemed to be pointy. They looked somewhat simir to elves, but System didn't know whether or not they actually were elves.

Although [System's Eye] could be used as a telescope, the scene more than a thousand kilometers away was still very difficult for him to make out in detail.

While System was scanning the elf army, he also saw several familiar figures in the team—Nature Druids wearing brown robes.

Because he'd obtained an incomplete druidic inheritance from the golden acorn, System knew that those guys were druids even though they were far away.

  ...

  'Are you still alive?'

After seeing the druids, System suddenly thought of Ying, the insect beast from the Abyss with a grasshopper bloodline.

It had been nearly two months since System and Ying had met, and he didn't know how her pn to assassinate the old druid had gone.

His [Intuition] could sense things about himself and those who were in close contact with him, but it wasn't helpful for those who weren't very close to him.

System didn't know whether Ying's revenge for Quin had been successful, and he didn't even know whether or not she was still alive.

He also discovered a problem. That is, although Ying had said that she'd come back to find him, could she really track him down in a huge pce like the Warren Pins?

Maybe he should have told her that he'd leave some marks somewhere pointing the way. That way, she'd be able to easily find his location and successfully meet up with him.

  ...

Ever since System had first discovered the scattered green spots in Lilt Forest, there had been changes occurring in the forest almost every day.

Possibly due to the nature magic of the elves or druids, in just over twenty days, Lilt Forest had changed from a nd of snow into a nd of green.

The winter that had sted for nearly nine months in Lilt Forest had finally come to an end, and the forest rapidly entered the early summer season.

System wasn't clear on the specific details of the war that had been fought around Lilt Forest, but he now knew the war's result.

Aura had been turned into a butterfly by his brother Ogan, and the Will of Winter that had been inherited from the God of Winter, along with the Winter Legion, had disappeared.

The invading demons from the Abyss and Ogan's gnoll ckeys had been unable to gain any benefits from Lilt Forest and had ended up retreating in disgrace.

Instead, it was the elves who had occupied Lilt Forest.

System also saw some druids and elves casting nature magic to build towns or vilges near the border between Lilt Forest and the Warren Pins.

Perhaps they had finally formed some sort of non-aggression treaty with the gnolls. These elves seemed to be settling here, and the gnolls had also stopped causing trouble in Lilt Forest.
