011: An advanced skeleton

"A Skeleton with an Advanced Class?"

Losing three Skeleton Soldier underlings was nothing; Lucas could make up for it in no time. However, what he saw through the vision of "Number Twenty-Six" left him unsettled.

  An advanced skeleton.

Surrounded by a group of Skeleton Soldiers and capable of instantly killing Number Twenty-Six, who had already reached Level 17, only a skeleton with an advanced class template could achieve such a feat.

But Lucas didn’t know what advanced class this skeleton possessed, nor its level or four core attributes.

After some thought, Lucas issued a mental command, recalling the twenty-seven Skeleton Soldiers still hunting to his side. Then, with his twenty-seven underlings in tow, he headed toward the location where Number Twenty-Six had been killed.

An advanced skeleton and the advanced class information it represented were highly enticing to Lucas.

Regardless of why it appeared in this area, as long as this advanced skeleton wasn’t overwhelmingly stronger than Lucas and his twenty-seven Skeleton Soldiers, Lucas was willing to give it a try!

Compared to venturing into areas teeming with advanced skeletons, hunting a lone advanced skeleton like this was clearly much easier.

  Besides.

Even if he wasn’t a match for this advanced skeleton, he could still retreat unscathed.

At worst, he could start over.

With his current strength, enslaving Skeleton Soldier underlings had become an easy task.

The place where "Number Twenty-Six" was killed wasn’t far from Lucas.

After a little over an hour, Lucas and his Skeleton Soldier underlings arrived at the destination. Along the way, he had even enslaved three more Skeleton Soldiers, replenishing his underlings to thirty.

Three piles of bones appeared before Lucas.

Approaching the piles, Lucas crouched down and examined them closely. Aside from the marks left by the sword strike, there were no other injuries on the bones.

In other words, all three Skeleton Soldiers had been killed in a single strike by the advanced skeleton!

Lucas could also kill a Level 17 Skeleton Soldier in one strike.

But he didn’t know the upper limits of the advanced skeleton’s strength.

After some thought, Lucas stopped hesitating and led his Skeleton Soldier underlings in pursuit. For the nearly mindless Skeleton Soldiers, the advanced skeleton’s trail would be hard to follow, but for Lucas, it wasn’t a problem.

The tracks and footprints left by the advanced skeleton—taller and stronger than Lucas—and its dozen or so Skeleton Soldiers made it easy to determine their direction.

  Moving swiftly.

In just half an hour, Lucas caught up to the advanced skeleton.

What the advanced skeleton was doing... sent a chill down Lucas’s spine!

  The advanced skeleton was hunting.

Just as it had killed his Skeleton Soldier underling with a single strike, when Lucas arrived, he happened to witness the advanced skeleton killing another Skeleton Soldier with a single slash!

So not only were the skeletons in the outer and inner layers fodder.

Even these Level 10+ Skeleton Soldiers, who had advanced to the central region of the Land of Buried Bones, were fodder for higher-tier skeletons!

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

Dead bones, nurtured by the aura of death, became skeletons.

The weakest skeletons, nourished by the aura of death, leveled up.

Gradually stronger skeletons were hunted by others, becoming experience points.

Skeleton Soldiers were then hunted by even higher-tier skeletons, becoming their nourishment.

This cycle repeated, forming a closed loop.

As long as one didn’t stand at the pinnacle of the Land of Buried Bones, they could never escape the fate of being harvested!

  Realizing this, Lucas sneered inwardly.

  Yes.

  He was a skeleton.

  They were undead.

In a monstrous race defined by cold-blooded slaughter, he had still been clinging to the thinking of his human past. That, in itself, was a huge mistake!

Fortunately, he had realized it early.

If he had continued to treat these skeletons and the undead race with his old thinking, what awaited him wouldn’t just be a chill down his spine!

The commotion of over thirty Skeleton Soldiers moving together was hard to miss.

By the time Lucas found the advanced skeleton, the advanced skeleton had also noticed him.

Almost immediately after killing the Skeleton Soldier, the advanced skeleton charged toward Lucas’s direction, greatsword in hand.

  It was hunting.

Naturally, it wouldn’t refuse more prey.

  Especially Lucas!

Though there was no verbal communication, Lucas could sense that the advanced skeleton’s target was him!

Perhaps to the advanced skeleton, Lucas, far sturdier than an ordinary Skeleton Soldier, was an exceptionally robust and nutrient-rich piece of fodder!

While the advanced skeleton’s target was Lucas, Lucas’s target was also the advanced skeleton.

As the advanced skeleton charged forward, Lucas gave a mental command, and his thirty-plus Skeleton Soldier underlings fearlessly rushed toward the advanced skeleton.

Lucas himself blended into the Bone Legion, charging alongside them!

  Skeletons were fast.

In just a few breaths, the advanced skeleton crossed over a hundred meters, closing in on Lucas and his underlings.

The heavy greatsword rose high and swept out!

  Boom!!!

  Crash!!!

With a single strike! The Skeleton Soldier at the forefront was torn apart, scattering into a rain of broken bones! The two Skeleton Soldiers behind it were also caught in the attack, severed at the waist.

Though not dead, they were incapacitated.

A single strike had taken out three of Lucas’s high-level Skeleton Soldier underlings. This was the overwhelming power of an advanced skeleton, whose level and tier far surpassed that of Skeleton Soldiers!

The advanced skeleton charged forward, intent on slaughtering the Skeleton Soldiers blocking its path and reaching Lucas.

  Lucas wasn’t idle either.

Ordering two more Skeleton Soldiers to shield him, Lucas stepped forward, appearing at the advanced skeleton’s side. With all his strength, he swung the Bone Mòdāo, a cold light flashing as it aimed for the advanced skeleton’s leg bone!
