A little journey

The Kingdom of Zency was distinguished by its limited access to the Life Line. Despite being one of the eight kingdoms bordering it, the Life Line in Zency had long been marked with warning tapes to prevent any approach. However, the kingdom’s forests were home to a wide variety of wild animals. What made Zency truly unique was the rarity of strange creatures near the Life Line, a major advantage that turned its merchants into the best in the land.

The hunting trip began with spears and arrows.

Novamelle: “My father agreed! Let's go, Moner! But he warned us repeatedly not to cross the Life Line, or it will be the end of us. The priority is deer, then foxes, then rabbits.”

Moner: “Yes, but you know our real plan.”

Both said in unison: “The luminous five-winged deer, the savage ivory-toothed foxes, the invisible singing rabbits.”

Novamelle: “But let’s not forget the chickens that lay candy instead of eggs.”

Moner laughed. “They are truly valuable; I won’t forget them. But we must stay focused,” he said in a challenging tone. “Even if the deer have five wings, even if the foxes are monstrous, even if the rabbits are invisible—once you set a goal in your mind, your entire body will move toward it. Today, our goal is to catch at least one of them or all of them!”

  Novamelle: “Let’s go!”

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

After two hours of walking, they entered the forest and reached the edge of the Life Cliff. This cliff was the last one before the Life Line, and beyond it lay the strange creatures.

Novamelle recalled that her father used to come here to collect rare herbs and plants, but he never dared to hunt due to the danger. Meanwhile, Moner, sitting at the cliff’s edge, found the place oddly familiar. Why does this place feel like I’ve seen it before? Like it’s an escape from hell? But I’m not afraid. If I take precautions and don’t get too close to the Life Line, I’ll be fine.

He smiled and said to Novamelle, “Let’s go down.”

They were both excited, as they had never been this close to the Life Line before. It felt like breaking free from the weight of slavery. As they continued running, their steps became lighter and silent, ensuring they didn’t alert the creatures nearby.

Fifty meters ahead, Novamelle spotted a luminous five-winged deer glowing between the trees. It moved slowly toward the Life Line.

Moner: “Novamil! Hurry before it crosses, or we’ll lose our golden opportunity!”

Moner’s plan was to use spears for the deer and arrows for the foxes and rabbits. He quickly grabbed his spear and threw it.

  Shoo!

The spear soared toward the luminous deer and pierced its belly. The deer collapsed just before reaching the Life Line.

These strange creatures could enter the Life Line for an unknown reason.

Novamelle, astonished: “Amazing! This is worth 5,000 silver coins! Compared to an ordinary deer worth only 50 silver coins, this is a fortune! Its glowing skin never fades, and its wings never tear.”

Suddenly, they heard the sound of a stampede.

  What was that?

Despite their research, Novamelle and Moner had only heard of the creatures they had already named. But what they saw now was a pack of frenzied hyenas, three times faster than normal ones.

Without hesitation, they grabbed the deer's skin and wings and retreated. They climbed the ropes their father had secured for his past expeditions, escaping just in time.

Laughing in excitement, they left the forest.

Moner: “5,000 silver coins! That’s equal to 100 normal deer! Incredible! The merchant’s life is amazing. If we keep this up, I won’t even need to become king—this is enough for me.”

Novamelle : “But I still have the same ambition. Our situation may have improved, but what about the others?”

Moner thought deeply. It’s true… I managed to save myself, but what about everyone else?

Moner: “For now, let’s just focus on our current situation.”

Novamelle: “Tomorrow, we sell it at the market!”
