Chapter 59 - Columbus a load of bull

  Chapter 59

Josh yelled for Kaysi's attention.... KAYSI!

"Already on it!" Kaysi shouted to Josh. I was running over to Becky's side to check on her well-being.

The bull's attack only slowed Micah down for a quick second. But then, the same day, it enraged her more. James and Matilda ran over to Micah to try and stop her on her checks.

"Becky is breathing!" Kaysi yelled, announcing to the others.

"I am okay," Becky said when she opened her eyes, wincing in pain. Duke and Baby came over to her side and started to try to help heal her wound.

"I will be fine, Kaysi," Becky said as she placed an arm on Kaysi's shoulder. "You have to go get Micah under control before she ends up taking things too far and getting hurt herself. He only went after me cuz I'm the weakest link to throw the rest of you guys off."

Evan and Cailin were already on the move, attacking Columbus, the bull demon. They're maintaining their distance while still trying to get a couple of jobs because of his enormous horns. One wrong move, and they could be gored. We already saw what the horns did when they shattered Becky's arm bone.

"Micah, we need you and your right mind!" I said as I lifted my sword, blocking her twin tessen. Snap out of it! Words didn't seem reasonably to affect her. If I hit her on a more emotional level, I can get some sense into her. "Micah, I hate to say this, but Becky would have gotten hurt if you were paying attention. Your reaction gave him the prime opportunity to attack! Now snap the hell out of it!"

My Sharp tone caught her off guard. She hesitated, and I shoved her into a nearby tree. It started to rain as Micah sat up, and she shook her head. I could tell that her mind was clear again. I walked over and put my hand out to help her up.

"I'm sorry I had to do that. Are you doing okay now?"

"Yes, I am now. I might have a small lump on the back of my head, but I'll be fine. Thanks."

"I think maybe you should sit this one out unless we really need you."

"No, I'm fine. I just had a couple of screws loose. I'll be fine now. I won't take a step again."

I looked over at Baby, knowing she was more familiar with Micah's training.

She gave me a thumbs-up before I even had a chance to ask.

"All right, let's go take down this sick asshole and recover the homes and enslaved people!"

Micah, James, and I join the fight! Evan and Cailian had him pretty winded.

The rain's coolness dropped the pressure in the air, and you could see him panting, the wind blowing through his nostrils.

"Your kids sure don't know when to give up... DO YOU!" Just as we almost had him surrounded, he blasted an intense beam from his body as he flexed into the air. It knocked the five of us to the ground.

"Matilda! Cailian asked. Are you still good at cattle roping like we used to when we were kids?"

"I'm kind of out of practice, but I think I still got the basics down!"

"Grab the ropes over there. You go for the horns, and I'll go for the legs. Josh, if he can use your Phoenix power at the right time and slam his head down into the ground, we can knock his lights out. The rest of you keep our attention and try not to get in the way! Let's hope this all goes well."

The other Waymakers and I kept him dizzy and turning in circles. Columbus was not letting up, making attacks at him.

Cailian wrapped the first rope over one of his front legs instead of both. "Damn it!" Cailian exclaimed. The rain poured down quickly, and lightning flashed across the sky. It struck a Lumber behind us. There must have been iron in them to attract the lightning. The timber caught fire after being struck by lightning.

Matilda was able to get the ropes across the top horns, but it wasn't easy to hold on as he thrashed back and forth, trying to shake her off.

Here, Cailian said as he handed the ropes to James, "Hold him as best as possible." Cailian went in for a second rope around the legs and succeeded in catching both of them, this time within good time, as Matilda lost her grip on the rope around the horns. Columbus turned, aiming to hit Cailian with his horns.

In a quick instant, Micah looped a second rope around his horns! "WE GOT HIM! Now pull tight, everyone!"

James and Cailian pulled the ropes at his legs. As the rope swung back around, Matilda grabbed the other rope and pulled it tightly.

Micah and Matilda pulled the ropes as Columbus fell into the mud!

We thought we had him; he was down on the ground. But we were too close to the fire, and the Embers burnt the ropes, releasing him once more.

I jumped on top of Josh's back as he soared into the air above Columbus's head, just as it was initially planned. I jumped off the side of him, and with the back of the hilt of my sword, I slammed it into the bull's skull. He Came crashing down to the crest of the Earth, breaking open part of the ground.

From where he lay, he slowly reverted back to his human form as steam rolled off his body.

" Thank you, everyone, for your help, and especially you, Matilda. You really saved me back there from a massive headache." Cailian laughed awkwardly.

"You're welcome. "I think we both need to practice," she said, nudging Cailian. "So, did you kill him?" Matilda questioned.

I kneeled there with my hands on my knees, trying to catch my breath. "No," I huffed windedly. Don't you know bulls have hard heads? "I smirked. Let's tie them up, get them out of here, and get some answers!"
