Volume 2; Epilogue 1

Sifting through multitudes of video feeds from multiple perspectives, along with an absurd amount of documents, Alice decides to check in on Zycor. Despite not directly communicating with her, she knew he had made contact with fragments of herself within the dungeon cores. It is because of that she developed an interest in his adventure, and found herself entertained. But, due to an influx of deaths, she had to put her ‘show’ time on pause. When she brought up the display her eyes grew wide as she muttered, “Well crap…”

Moments later a device that resembled a phone, but had distinct differences such as a crystalline like antenna, began to ring. Picking it up, Alice's expression soured. She answered it with a begrudging, “Hey there… brother.”

“Don’t you ‘hey brother’ me you little stain!” Itzal bellowed back.

With a slight chuckle, Alice asked, “I take it you found out about my slight fudging of the truth?”

“Slight!? You made me a scapegoat! Now everyone in the mortal realm thinks I am pure evil!”

  “W-well, I figured it would be okay…”

“Why?! Because you thought I would be too busy dealing with the corrupted rejects of the world!?”

  “I mean~, you were, so…”

Itzal let out a heavy sigh, “ I… I cannot believe you. When we agreed to our roles, I figured I could leave you in charge and not pull some crap like this…”

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

“Hey, I’m sorry, okay? I thought it was the best way to steer people away from the seal and have it be lost to time…”

“Setting aside the scapegoat problem for now, what the hell is going on up there?! What’s this I hear about someone trying to undo the seal!?”

“Ah, that… w-well I’ve been swamped with sorting through an influx of deaths to sort through so my hands have been full. No doubt it’s because of that stupid elf boy…”

Itzal questioned, “Elf boy? Are you talking about the same psychopath who sprung the seal the last time!?”

Alice remained silent. Itzal shouted at her, “Why is he still alive!? Did you not kill him?!”

“I thought about it… but when I tried to find him, his life force was nowhere to be found, so I figured he was dead. Honestly I don’t know how or why he is still alive. Even for an elf he has way exceeded their lifespan.” Alice sheepishly explained.

Itzal leaned back in his throne with a groan, “It sounds like things have gotten way more complicated than they should be… And I am in the same boat as you, so many deaths of the corrupt and evil flooding in. It looks like he’s just killing indiscriminately now. And the cause of death is the same for everyone… mana depletion.”

“Yeah, same here! S-so let’s focus on dealing with this problem and work together to stop-.”

Itzal cut her off, “You are NOT getting out of the lecture that’s coming to you, Alice… We’re gonna have a nice, long chat about what exactly you told the mortals about me.”

Alice tried to hang up the call on him, but was denied. Itzal fumed, “Did you just try to hang up on me!? Well unlike you, I got along with our interdimensional hopping friend, and he made SURE you couldn’t hang up on me!”

Alice screamed into the white void of her dimension as Itzal began berating her. Since time flows differently, it is anyone's guess how many hours, days, weeks, or months she suffered through. One can only hope Itzal had mercy on her.
