Nightmare Dungeon 17: Hurricane Navigation

“Hey wake up” Noelle said while slapping Vinny. “Wake up stupid dragon!”

“Can you keep this bubble up Yv? I’m going back to my 9t self.” Yvonne nodded and Giana shifted to her 9t self and started to sing.

Toxic Donkey, Io and Vinny woke up due to Giana's song.

“Ugh, my head hurts. What happened?” Io said while rubbing her head.

“You guys slept through Giana’s wonderful performance! Although we couldn’t see any of it, but the water trial is over however…” Noelle pointed at the Hurricane path.

“Oh the Hurricane path, yeah that one gave me trouble.” Everyone looked at Vinny.

“What the fuck Vinny? Why didn’t you tell us? And you have been here?” Toxic Donkey said in disbelief.

“Uhh sorry, I didn’t think he would put it in, but there is a ‘Time Capsule’ floating above there, and I’ve visited it many times. I doubt that he put that in this dungeon, but… there are Hurricane Cyclops…”

“Huh what are those? Can I burn them? Do they taste good? I never had cyclops meat” Io said while having a dreamy look on her face.

“Io, please, let Vinny finish.” Toxic Donkey said while rummaging through his donkey pockets. He found some preserved meat and handed it to Io. His donkey suit was the only reason that he didn’t buy a dimensional box yet, as this marvel of Jarn technology put dimensional boxes to shame.

“Well. I would advise everyone to leave them alone. I think they’re ancient creatures and every hurricane has one. I don’t think this is anything you want to fight. We are at a disadvantaged location and I’m pretty sure they could even send us packing. Moreover, there are many of them…”

“Ok, I got the message so what would the objective be then?” Toxic Donky asked while continuing in feeding Io preserved meat.

Vinny turned into his dragon form. “Hop on. It’s probably to either land on the head of the cyclops or get to where the floating island. I have done both, so that’s not a problem. It will just be a rough flight.”

The party hesitated a bit but climbed on Vinny’s back.

“I…is it safe to… land on their head?” Yvonne asked wile using [Wind Ropes] to fasten the party.

“Uhh, yeah. They won’t notice at all or don’t care. I had gotten swept away many times by the hurricanes, and while I didn’t dare at first… I had to crash-land on one, and it didn’t care. I used their heads as resting points after that. I think Agnis also mentioned of training on their head and nothing happening.”

“Right… it sounds like that stupid fox was trying to get himself killed or something. Go for it Vinny.”

Vinny ascended and approached the hurricanes, and Yvonne made an air bubble to drastically reduce the effect of the wind on the party on Vinny’s back.

“Hey is this really a good idea?” Io said after the wind almost blew away her snack.

“Don’t worry, this place has turned me into an excellent flier! hold on!” Vinny yelled through the sound of the wind as he sped up.

“Ugh, you’re starting to sound more and more like the other mythical and legendary beasts now!” Toxic Donkey yelled as he clung on for his life as Vinny made a steep ascent. Vinny observed the hurricane in front of him and found the right angle. He slanted away from the hurricane and entered it.

“I am your flight attendant, Giana Kahlua! Tailed beasts, dragons and humans hold on! Vinny Express is experiencing some turbulence! Whoa Kyle, I told you to hold on!” Giana caught Toxic Donkey with her tail who got blown off Vinny’s back.

Toxic Donkey clung on the tail and pulled himself back in. “You seem to be enjoying this, aren’t you? And thanks.”

“Make sure to be strapped in, no snacking allowed unless you give me some too!”

Io handed Giana some of the meat she was snacking on.

“Are tailed beasts and mythical beasts immune to stress or something? Is this why they live so long? Why am I the only one that’s freaking out?” Toxic Donkey remarked as he looked at the windy violence that was the Hurricane Path.

Noelle took Toxic Donkey out of Giana’s tail and stabilized him so he wouldn’t fly off Vinny’s back. “Don’t worry Kyle, you’re with people from Hourai, we can deal with anything this place throws at us.”

“Right guys that area in front of us seems nasty hold on.” Vinny ascended a bit and then dove down. The turbulence rattled Vinny and everyone on his back, but he kept steady and didn’t flip over.

“Wow Vinny is really a good flier! Teach me that one day!”

“I don’t think I can teach you this Io, these hurricanes are the best teachers, unfortunately. We’re almost at the eye of the storm. One more rough patch.” Vinny said as he descended slowly.

The party was marveling at Vinny’s flying proficiency while thinking how crazy this dungeon is.

Giana looked around and spotted something interesting. “Hey Kyle, you know Agnis the best, right? Do you think Agnis made this dungeon so that it could be cleared?”

“It’s funny that you say that Giana as I was thinking the same however… if he wanted to kill invaders, he wouldn’t do it in such a roundabout way but make it more… spectacular. Either something really strong is indeed sealed away at the end and he wants to hide something or… He is trying to wear down or test invaders, for what reason, who knows.”

“So, the rumors of a dimensional conquering artifact might be true?”

“Well. There was this item that could produce an endless amount of water. It was the cause of me losing my parents and it played a role in the cult that had held me and my brother hostage. Agnis had uncounted something like that before. He said it was a Dimsha, which is a part of this dimension and thus extremely strong. So… since he tends to run into trouble a lot, he might have found another one and sealed it in this dungeon. If that’s the case, then beating this dungeon is a huge mistake. Dying to this dungeon might be better than dying to that item as the only Dimsha I know of could turn anything into water.” Toxic Donkey reminisced.

  “Truly a problematic race.”

Toxic Donkey raised an eyebrow. “You’re of the same race though…”

Vinny broke out of the turbulent wall of wind and reached the eye of the storm and the party could take a good look at the Hurricane Cyclops.

“I…I’ve never seen or heard of s…something like this.”

“My eyes can only tell me that it’s a Hurricane Cyclops but that’s all. How strange…”

Vinny landed safely on the head of the cyclops, and large numbers appeared in front of them.

“2 hours and 15 minutes? It’s a timer. Does something happen?” Toxic Donkey said as he was looking for clues. “Wait a signpost? Really Agnis? On the cyclops scalp?” He walked over to the signpost and turned it around.

“You’ve done well to get this far. Take a well-deserved rest… Well, how considerate of him. It seems we get a 2-hour rest.”

Vinny was the only one who needed to rest and he used this time to tell the party on his experiences flying through these hurricanes and about the Time Capsule that should float around the Hurricane Path in the outside world.

He went on to talk about all the plant species and seedlings he had encountered in the vaults. Those uninterested used the opportunity to nap. Toxic Donkey was interested but he fell asleep as Io had asked Giana to cast [Sleep] on him as she noticed that he was exhausted but tried to not show it.
