Dear Scribe,
The Review Committee for Advancement thanks you for your application for further study and growth. The Elder Bookmasters of the Eternal Library looks with pride upon our younger associates and their ambitions. There is nothing more exciting than reviewing the many different projects our candidates propose for further study and meeting scribes who desire to serve our institution as future Bookmasters. We enjoyed getting a chance to review the work you have accomplished. Unfortunately, your application must once again be declined.
As with all aspiring Bookmasters, your materials received an in-depth examination during our review process. We were very impressed with many aspects of your application. Your personal narrative was widely considered the most compelling component. One committee member was moved to tears as they recalled your escape from the poverty of the lowlands in the Sparkling Delta.
Upon reviewing your work with Bookmaster V.Q. Prashem, his praise was overwhelmingly positive. It is clear that your mentor strongly supports your advancement, and he was a fierce advocate of your application throughout the review process. If nothing else, this should be a source of pride and encourage your continued study and tutelage with him. In three years, you will be eligible to reapply, and with proper guidance, the committee feels your application will be much more competitive.
As to why your application was declined, the main concern was the direction of your Master Project and your chosen area of study. While we always encourage scribes to reexamine world events and systemic structures, we are simultaneously cautious of those who wish to “swing wide the doors of ignorance and rip down the veil of assumed history” when it comes to uncovering truths the applicant considers purposefully hidden. This kind of rhetoric generally connotes an emotional, self-centered focus and a strong urge for career advancement, rather than a desire to right the wrongs of under-documented events or political revisions of popular culture. We have also found that these projects are typically grounded in theories based on little more than unsupported hearsay and lack empirical fact. To support this Master Project would be against many of the Eternal Library’s most cherished principles.

To be more specific to your application materials, the Leaves of Life is an organization whose altruism and community service are well known. The assertion that they have clandestine operations throughout the Empire and are manipulating world events for ulterior, undisclosed interests is a claim that has no basis in any data provided by your proposal. It is an assertion that at best can only be considered conspiratorial, and at worst, should the Eternal Library approve this study and its eventual publication, would be highly damaging to an organization whose mission is to support and heal the sick and dying, aid farmers in the growth of crops and livestock, care for the destitute, and educate and house those whom war and poverty have made orphans. It is unclear why, after your last application was declined and you were encouraged to seek other subject material, you still felt compelled to reapply with a similar proposal.
In addition to denying your request, we are providing formal notice that you must immediately cease all research on the Leaves of Life and any attempts to disseminate said material publicly. We acknowledge this is rare, but it was deemed necessary that you redirect your interests and the focus of your studies. This decision was approved by consensus, which means that while not every Bookmaster present agreed with this course of action, no member of the committee challenged the decision.
Bookmaster Prashem will consult with you to find a new area of research. You are highly encouraged to work with him on this and take his counsel. Failing to do so by continuing in your current direction will be met with disciplinary actions, submission of a Review Request, and could result in your expulsion from the Eternal Library, as well as more extreme measures.
Understandably, you may have questions about the decisions of the Review Committee. You may wish to challenge them or desire more insight into how this conclusion was determined. As a reminder, to protect your interests and career, the Review Committee's identities are classified except your advocate, Bookmaster Prashem. Please direct any questions you have about this decision to him, and he will respond to your queries as appropriate.
Again, we thank you for your application. In general, we are proud of the work that you have accomplished in your current position. We strongly encourage you to continue to think about how you might grow as a scribe and one day assume a leadership position within the Eternal Library.
With Vigilance and Solidarity,
The Review Committee for Advancement
