Looking at the two choices in front of him, Toro fell silent, his confusion apparent on his face
" judging by the foolish expression adorning your face, I'll assume you don't understand "
Hearing this voice Toro snapped out of his thoughts and turned his attention to the figure than was now standing before him. This was the first time he had seen them since they disappeared a few days ago
" can you expin the difference between the two options? " asked Toro, ignoring the figures words
" before I expin, what do you understand about the retionship between the physical body and Ki? " asked the figure as they waved their hand and conjoured two cushions. Motioning for Toro to take a seat
After sitting down, Toro thought for a while before he answered
" the body is a container. Ki is what's being contained in said container. The stronger the body, the more Ki can be held within "
Hearing his words the figure nodded slightly
" not bad. You're correct but you're missing one step " said the figure as they looked at Toro, ignoring his confused expression as they continued " the more Ki held within the container, the more Ki that can be used to strenghten said container. This creates a cycle of mutual enhancement "
" Ki training is the system that most of the universe utilises. Strengthen the container, gain more Ki, further promote the growth of said container " expined the figure
" every single living being in this universe has Ki. What seperates those beings is the potential of their body. Some races are born so powerful that they can survive in the vacuum of space then they're others so weak than simply falling a few feet after their birth can mark their demise. This potential is what determines the upper limit of Ki "
Hearing this, Toro nodded in understanding as he thought of frieza then looked at vast difference when compared to someone like Master Roshi. Did Frieza train even a fraction of the intensity of Master Roshi? No. And yet Frieza could end his life with a sneeze.
Hardwork without an oppurtunity can only get you so far
" you said most of the universe follows the path of Ki training, so what about physical training " asked Toro
Hearing his words, the figure seemingly fell into thought for a period of time before they replied
".....physical training in my opinion is a path doomed to fail from the start ". Toro looked at the figure in surprise not expecting those words
" physical training focuses on improving the quality of the body through the use of devouring Ki. Meaning all Ki that was generated through training is then abosrbed by the body as nutrients making it stronger "
" I don't see how that's a path doomed to failure " muttered Toro in confusion, hearing his words, the figure continued speaking
" on paper, physical training is better than Ki training, simply because you can have simir effects of Ki without the use of Ki. For example, person A has a power level of 500, person B has trained their body to the point where it's comparable to a power level of 500 "
" if they fought person B would more than likely be the victor. This is because they don't have to use any Ki to defend against any attacks nor would they have to use any to attack. While person A has to exert Ki to defend against attacks, and also exert even more Ki to break the defences of person B : expalined the figure
" sounds pretty goo- " Toro's words were interuppted by the figure
" but "
" person A only needed 6 months to gain a power level of 500. While person B took 18 months. This is the first major disadvantage of physical training, it takes much longer to gain a simir power level, meaning those who follow this path are often left behind by others. The gap often becoming so rge that they're enhanced defence can do nothing more than prolong the fight "
Hearing their expnation, Toro fell silent as he processed what he heard, not bothering to wait for his reply, the figure continued
" this is only one of the issues with this path. Another issue with this path is the limited destructive capability. Because of the low or ck of ki, physical trainers have to resort to hand to hand combat. Even if they're practically invincible at the same power level, what's to stop their adversary from putting distance between them and using Ki based attacks. One attack may not be able to break the defence of a physical trainer, but what about 10? 20? 50 or even 100? What then? "
" on top of that, races with high potential have the possibility of cultivating Divine Ki which means an endless lifespan, some thing that physical trainers can't do. So besides their enhanced defence there's absolutely no reason to take this path "
After speaking, the figure fell silent waiting for Toro to make his decision, though they were pretty certain which path he'd take unless he was a fool
Toro's mind drifted to the plot of dragon ball he had seen, whether dragonball, dragonball z, dragonball gt, dragonball super and dragonball daima, not to mention the movies and he found himself coming to the same conclusion
Physical training is a perfect path for saiyans
Saiyans, Goku and Vegeta for example, now stand with the big boys, not because of their base power level but because of their transformations. Said transformations which are often hindered by their body. Look at Broly, the saiyan with arguably the strongest body of any saiyan to date, he dominates fights because of his body, then followed by his transformations. Even when he's overpowered by his oponent he hardly gets injured, but even he has his limits
This is how z Broly died, his body was on the brink of collpased because of his enormous amount of Ki, like a balloon on the brink of popping, Goku's attack was nothing more than the needle that sealed his demise
Even if you ignore saiyans and look at frieza. They suffer from the same problem, too much ki, to weak of a body to hold it. So they have to spend all that time in a weakened form
As for being left behind? He's several decades before the plot with a state of the art training device, if he can't surpass Goku and the others, he might as well kill himself.
More importantly, he refused to become so vulnerable because he simply lowered his ki. Imagine having the power to destroy the universe and nearly die to a ser.
Not to mention he preferred the saiyan route of power compared to the divine route. Super saiyan 4 will always be his pick over super saiyan god
With this thought in mind, he suddenly stood up and walked towards the panel
" took you long enough, I don't understand why you spent so much time hesitating. Your future path is cle- wait what are you doing? " the figures words were cut short when they noticed that he was about to click physical training, instantly appearing before him and grabbing his wrist
" you're correct, I do know what path I have to take " replied Toro as he looked at the arm grabbing his
" did you not listen to anything I just said? Why not pick the Ki training? "
" no I listened and I am truly greatful for your expnation as it cleared up a lot of doubts for me but your confusion as to why I'm choosing the physical route means you don't understand saiyans. This route is practically designed for our race or should I say, we're designed for it " expined Toro
Hearing his words, the figure fell silent for a while before they resed his arm and step back, Seeing this, Toro clicked physical training on the panel. Immediately after, a red beam scanned his body before the text on the panel changed
[ Physical Route Selected: Estimated time: 11 months Estimated Power Level Gained : 900 ]
[ Would you like to commence training? ]
Toro hesitated for a bit before he firmed his mind and clicked yes. Immediately after he fell to his knees barely able to prop himself up as the strength drained from his body
Beside him, the figure looked at him silently before disappearing
[ Ki conversion Complete: At the end of successful training session, all Ki gained will be transfered to the body to be absorbed in healing pool ]
{ Name : Toro } { Race : Saiyan } { Age : 5 } { Powel Level : 5 } { Blood Ki : 11 }
[ 5 Ki = 1 Blood Ki after conversion ]
Before Toro could react, blood red energy surrounded his body before seemingly being absorbed, alleviating some of his lost of strength. Gradually returning to his feet, slowly adjusting to the lost of strength, he read the panel and understood what had happened
Seeing the major drop in power level he understood the words of the figure more clearly but this was the path he chose and he was going to walk it. Ignoring the stray thoughts he turned his attention to todays training pn
Finding that it nothing more than high rep calisthenics, not to mention under normal gravity. This should be easier than he thought
***
A few hours ter, Toro id on his back, his body drenched in sweat, gasping for air as he stared at the roof in a daze. Boy was he wrong, he was essentially a newbie to the gym and what he just did was equivalent to an intermediate program. A program that he only managed to complete because of his will power and saiyan physique
Not to mention, that without ki, saiyans aren't that much stronger than humans
10, 50 rep sets of push ups, squats, dips, pull ups, sit ups, followed by 20kms of running. Imagine his surprise when all of this equipement was conjoured out of nothing, especially the 5km track.
[ Training Complete : Please make your way to the healing pool ]
