Anaris stood on the observation deck, watching the dark plain stretch out beneath her. The air was heavy, saturated with the smell of ionized ozone and fine metal dust. Every breath stung her lungs—static electricity, generated by her brother’s mere presence.
Below, in the arena, stood Prince Aurelion. Blue ripples pulsed around him, bending the light and distorting the outlines of the wreckage. It wasn't magic, but a byproduct of his Core running at high capacity, turning the space around him into a massive electromagnetic inductor.
"Most generals in the galaxy bet on lasers and plasma," Aurelion began, his voice vibrating directly in her mind through the Sylvarian Link, cold and mechanically precise. "It looks spectacular at parades. It burns clean holes. But from a physics perspective, it's amateurish. Energy tries to expand in all directions upon impact. It wants to vaporize. To radiate. It's a waste of potential."
Aurelion slowly raised his hands. Two lines of blue-white lightning—Lorentz force rails
"A Railgun," Aurelion continued. "The philosophy of absolute transfer. You don't deal with temperature here; you deal with momentum. My Core creates a field that ignores friction and air resistance until I release the projectile."
He looked at his sister as the ingot began to spin into a blurred streak. "Humans focus on the size of their cannons, but they forget the most vital variable. Kinetic energy is defined not by mass alone, but by half of its product with the square of its velocity. Do you grasp the difference? If I double the weight of this bolt, I only linearly increase its impact. But if I double its velocity, the destructive potential increases fourfold. And I intend to accelerate it twelve times over in this field."
Magnetic Release: Hyper-Kinetic Sequence.
A second of silence was followed by a sound not of this world—the sharp tearing of reality's fabric. The sonic boom sent a visible ring of condensation rippling through the arena, shattering the last of the distant sensors.
The projectile hit the first bunker—a meter-thick wall of ceramic and steel composite. No fire. Only a dry, metallic crack. The ingot passed through a meter of steel like a hot wire through butter, burying itself kilometers deep into the distant mountains.
Anaris simply stepped off the platform. No grand gestures. The Nano-Crystal
"Quite a show, Aurelion," she said matter-of-factly. "But why the effort? The sector is quiet. The trade routes are open. Why train to destroy mountains?"
Aurelion turned. His eyes were still glowing with the fading residue of the discharge. "Because peace is not a natural state, Anaris. It is a temporary anomaly. Humans, Xenos, even the chaotic storms of the Ether... they are all variables waiting to collapse."
He gestured to the bunker. "Come see true efficiency."
Inside, the mannequins in top-tier armor had been liquidated. Turned to sludge inside intact plates by the sheer hydrostatic shock of the impact.

"In a vacuum, it's worse," Aurelion said, looking at the sky. "No atmosphere to slow me down. There, Magnetic Release
Aurelion took a step toward her, static electricity snapping between them. "And you must understand one thing, sister. What you saw just now... Mach 12... that is merely a limitation of my Base FormResonance State
He looked at his palms, where the air still shimmered. "In Resonance, I can control projectiles with the mass of hundreds of kilograms and grant them velocities exceeding thirty kilometers per secondam the trigger. I can manage an entire army, synchronizing firing vectors for thousands of units while personally eliminating any factor that threatens the fluidity of the battle."
Anaris felt the coldness. It wasn't hatred; it was the pure calculation of a soldier.
"The fluidity of battle?" Anaris repeated.
"War is a process, Anaris. Just like your research. If something threatens the fluidity of that process, it must be removed with maximum speed and minimum resistance. There is nothing more to it. No emotion, only the optimization of ruin."
Aurelion deactivated his field. The hum died down, leaving only the whistling of the wind over the Obsidan Fields. He looked at Anaris, and for a moment, the General faded, replaced by her older brother.
"You build the future, Anaris. You create patents, elevate students, negotiate with Houses. That is your role," Aurelion said quietly. "My role is to ensure that no one ever kicks down the sandcastle you are building."
Anaris looked at the horizon, where the spire of the Academy—her Academy—glowed against the twilight. She realized that her brother wasn't a monster. He was the wall. A wall made of magnetism and unyielding will.
"Have your equations, brother," she said finally, a faint smile playing on her lips. "I will build the future. You make sure it survives."
Aurelion nodded, turning his gaze upward, toward the faint outline of the Monolith in orbit. "One day, even kinetic slugs won't be enough, Anaris. One day, I will have to reach for the Particle Beam. But until then... this will suffice."
They stood there in silence, two pillars of the Sylvarian race. One holding a pen, the other a sword. The silence before the storm continued, but now, they were both ready for whatever would break it.
[END OF ARC 1]
AUTHOR'S NOTE: The Architect’s Blueprint
Thank you for journeying with Anaris, Aurelion, and the Royal Family through this first Arc.
I want to share a bit about the origin of this story. "Sylvarian: Architect of Fate" is my very first writing project.
Unlike many stories that use established fantasy races, I am building the Sylvarian race, their biology, their "Nano-Crystal" technology, and their political structure from absolute zero
These first 10 chapters were designed as a tasting menu
What comes next?
Building a deep, cohesive Lore for a planned 300+ chapter epic takes time and precision. To ensure the quality remains high and the story doesn't suffer from "filler," I will be adopting the following schedule:
- Hiatus:2-week break
- Return Date:March 1st
I need your voice!
Since this is a pilot test of the concept, your feedback is incredibly valuable to me.
- Did you enjoy the mix of science and magic?
- Do you want to see more of the Sylvarian world?
If the answer is yes, please consider leaving a RatingReview
See you soon among the stars.
