chapter 3: Guild of the Forsaken

The last goblin fell with a shriek, and Kael stepped back, panting. His fists were raw, and sweat clung to his hair. Liora and Dain surveyed the clearing, their expressions unreadable.

“Five down,” Liora said, checking the quest interface.

  Quest Completed: Goblin Menace

Reward: 50 XP, 20 Gold, Basic Loot Chest

  Kael Level Up! Level 3

Kael felt the familiar tingling of growth. His Health and Mana increased slightly, and a new option appeared under Skills: Basic Strike.

He flexed his fingers. “This… I feel stronger already.”

“Good,” Dain said. “But don’t get cocky. This was easy. Real challenges lie ahead.”

As they escorted the villagers back to Greenwood Village, Kael noticed something unexpected: a notice board near the town square covered with parchments and glowing runes.

  “Guilds?” Kael asked. “Like… teams?”

Liora’s eyes sparkled. “Exactly. Some guilds are powerful, control territory, or hoard rare loot. The Forsaken? They’re… different. We’re small, overlooked, but loyal. You interested?”

Kael hesitated. The system interface pinged:

  New Option: Join Guild?

  - Yes

  - No

He clicked Yes, and a soft chime confirmed his choice. Instantly, a mark appeared above his head: a faint emblem of a silver phoenix—the Forsaken guild symbol.

“Good,” Liora said. “We’ve got a base in the Hidden Forest. Come with us. You’ll train, take quests, and level up faster with us.”

The forest grew denser as they walked. Soon, Kael glimpsed a series of wooden towers and bridges woven into the trees—an entire village suspended above the forest floor. Lanterns glowed softly, illuminating a bustling guild full of adventurers preparing for missions, sharpening weapons, and studying scrolls.

Dain clapped Kael on the shoulder. “Welcome to the Forsaken. Don’t expect luxuries, but you’ll get respect if you earn it.”

  Kael’s interface updated again:

  Guild Joined: Forsaken

  Guild Rank: Initiate

Guild Buff: +5% XP gain while in missions

  Guild Quest Board Unlocked

“Not bad,” Kael muttered, scanning the guild hall. “But… how do I get stronger here?”

“Through quests, training, and teamwork,” Liora said. “And surviving mistakes.” She smiled faintly. “You’ll make plenty of those.”

Kael nodded. He opened the Guild Quest Board:

Quest Available: Goblin Leader in Greenwood Forest

  Level Recommendation: 3-5

Reward: 100 XP, 50 Gold, Rare Loot Chest

“Looks like our next job,” Dain said. “Time to test yourself again.”

Kael felt a spark of excitement. For the first time since waking in this world, he felt like he belonged.

He wasn’t just surviving anymore. He was part of something bigger—a team, a guild, a growing force in a world where strength meant survival.

And as the sun set over the forest canopy, Kael knew one thing for certain: this was only the beginning.
