B5 | Chapter 36

A Mountain within the eight hundred and forty-eighth Dimensional Block

Thunder crackles across the mountains as Zetrak moves through the lightning in the clouds in his transmuted form. Going faster than any mortal could possibly go now that he’s an Ascendant.

And just like many others, his first actions after ascending were to head straight here.

Within seconds, he leaves the clouds and reforms himself on top of the tallest mountain in the area. Where numerous other Ascendants appear one after another.

Not a single one of the Ascendants present is a Class S species, but they are all Ascendants with power at the peak of the Dimensional Grid right now. Even if they all know the moment all of the Class S species begin making it to Ascendant Tier, that will no longer be the case.

So right now is their only chance to begin a hunt.

First The Reaper herself, then the rest of them.

“Target located,” the Astral Seeker declares as the Class A species opens his three eyes, including the one on his forehead, and looks directly ahead of himself. Instantly making the other Ascendant Tier users arriving on the mountain show various different expressions of anticipation.

Some of them start to grin, others laugh, and some just smile.

There are even those amongst them that show no noticeable reaction as they continue staring forwards.

“Quantum Realm,” the Astral Seeker continues, speaking in short sentences as usual. But none of the Ascendants on the mountain care. Not now that they have a location.

Everyone here, and possibly everyone in the Dimensional Grid knows about the Quantum Reaper’s current actions. How she’s been teleporting around seemingly without a goal for years now. No doubt attempting to level up her skill.

Which also means that she can’t ascend until at the very least that skill is upgraded.

Making for an easy target as long as they manage to lock her down.

“We cannot allow the Reaper to become an Ascendant,” the Golden King declares, taking the lead despite being a human. “If she does, then her reign of terror will return.” A sneer spreads across his face. “And this time it will never end.”

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

The various Ascendants all nod their heads in agreement before the sole space worm amongst them, a Class A space creature, moves forwards and opens a rift to the Quantum Realm without a word.

  Since its species cannot speak.

“Let us wait for our latest friends to arrive,” a powerful monk states while bowing slightly. “It would be a shame if we failed due to lack of manpower.”

A scoff echoes from a nearby mountain as a fire spirit shouts, “How the fuck are we going to fail with two dozen Ascendants when hunting a single Tier 5? Do you think we’re incompetent, lowly monk?!”

“We may not be, but I can’t say the same about you,” Zetrak states without holding anything back, having already had a strong dislike for fire spirits long before this meeting.

Zetrak himself is half lightning spirit after all.

And fire spirits are always going on about how superior they are to other spirits.

All because they happen to have a fire elemental backing them up while many of the other spirits’ elementals have been hunted down for resources.

Elemental cores are worth an extreme amount to users after all for weapon crafting.

The pure irony in the situation is that none of the other spirits with Ascendants agreed to join them in their hunt simply because the Reaper has never killed an elemental without being attacked first. Unlike the other humanoids of the Grid.

But things are different for Zetrak and the first spirits.

Zetrak is half human, and he just simply dislikes the Reaper.

He dislikes all those at the top of power simply on account of their species.

And the first spirits have an ego worthy of rivaling that of dragons. So they refuse to allow people to be stronger than them.

The fire spirit turns into a wave of flames that rushes straight up to Zetrak, only for Zetrak to turn into electricity that clashes with the flames. Then the two are quickly forcefully separated when a powerful wave of gravity mana slams both of them into the ground. Forcing the two to return to their humanoid forms.

Or the bare minimum of what counts as one for the first spirit.

“Hunt our prey first, then hunt each other,” the Hunter declares as he slowly floats to the ground from the sky, having just arrived to find the two fighting. Then he turns his attention to the space worm and asks, “How long can you keep the portal open?”

The space worm makes a floating number five appear in the air in purple letters.

“Five minutes,” the Hunter says before asking, “Can you reopen the portal after it is closed?”

Without hesitation, the space worm nods its head.

“Good,” the Hunter finishes. Then he focuses on everyone and shouts, “Today we hunt the greatest prey to ever exist in our Grid! The Quantum Reaper herself!!!”

All of the other Ascendants nod their heads in agreement.

“We will not stop until she is dead, just like those she has reaped in the past!” the Hunter continues while raising a fist into the air. “And we will not stop with just her either! We will hunt all of the Class S prey we can find!”

Words of agreement spread through the mountains as a couple more Ascendants arrive to join them.

“Now,” the Hunter lowers his hand with a grin on his face shown through the cowl of his cloak. “Let us begin this hunt.”

With those words, the Ascendants begin to walk through the rift into the Quantum Realm one by one. With one last straggler appearing when only a single Ascendant has yet to enter the rift. Only for that last straggler to enter the rift right before it finally closes.

Leaving the mountains in absolute silence beyond the sound of thunder echoing every few seconds.
