(224)Chapter 3.7 – The Empress. (Part 3)

  Step!

The Empress stops walking abruptly and because of it, the girl does the same. They are currently at the exit of one of the corridors, the one that leads to the second area. From here, the damage that was done to the area can already be seen, not much of it as the space is for the large side, not only that, the environment hides quite a bit of it. Indeed, the spell that the girl used to extinguish the Defect Lord is not visible from the entrance. However, while the girl also stops moving it does not necessarily mean that she knows the reason for such sudden action. No, she’s quite confused, unsure on what she did or said to warrant this action from her Empress. In her mind, everything she said more than makes sense not only that, it’s not an offense to either her Empress or even herself. A simple state of reality, nothing more, nothing less. Yet, it’s quite evident that her Empress took offense to what came out from the girl’s mouth. She has a serious look on her face and while the rest of her body is somewhat relaxed, the fact that she has her arms crossed gives even more emphasis to her serious mood.

“Miranda, just because I’m the one that allowed you to be constructed, that does not mean I can freely command you to do my bidding. You are your very own person, one with own desires and goals in life. Your life is precious, especially to that dummy. I won’t nor I want you to do something that drastic. Not only that, this is a situation that I also have to get my hands dirty to solve it.”

Her voice is for the cold side but quite calm at the same time. Close to being stoic even but each word that vibrates through her glossy lips, they have a tremendous amount of weight to them, one that can and will crush those who are not ready to face her dead on. She means everything she just said, the girl truly is someone important to her, someone whose life has meaning to her and of course, a life that she does not want to be wasted just because. Her golden eyes stare directly at the girl, telling the same story in a different view. Indeed, while they might be serious looking, they in fact, have a mellow feeling to them. How’s it possible for such sharp eyes to transmit such a warm and kind feeling? It’s simple, what was said by her it’s something that her very own heart wanted to say and that alone, it’s enough to transmit her true feelings towards the one that is receiving them.

“I didn’t mean it in that way but... Thank you my Empress.”

Indeed, it was a simple miscommunication between the two of them.

What the girl meant was that she’s willing to go to the very depths of hell itself all because she fully trusts her Empress and her decisions. She knows well that her Empress is not some maniac in a power trip but neither a weakling that cannot enforce her desire upon others. Her Empress is someone whose status is well up there, someone who she looks up to and does not mind to follow to the very end of the world. She has trust in her Empress judgement, one that is done with care and fully aware of everything surrounding such a situation and even beyond it. But that’s not the only reason for why she wants to follow her, why she does not mind to be beneath her and even why she does not mind to die for her. No, this is only a fraction of it. Her Empress is someone who deserves respect as herself, she does the same even to those weaker than her and in this realm, she might be on the same level as my Hero. In this sense, she’s an irregular in the world as she neither is the Hero nor The Demon Lord and yet, her strength is in the same realm. She also deserves utmost loyalty for her kindness. For how hard she tries to seem like a “bad guy”, someone who does not care about anyone else except herself and a selected few, what she’s doing to that “rat” as she calls her, is a simple representation of her kindness in full display. She could’ve ignored her completely, those “beatings” from Miranda’s sister was nothing too drastic but only a way to physically persuade such an individual to back off, something that it seems she refuses to do. By allowing such a person to be with the Hero, indirectly she’s allowing such person to do what she always wanted to do.

“Sigh, there is no need for that. Let’s get moving.”

  Step! Step!

Well, well, what do we have here? For someone that said that the damage was kept to the minimum, it sure does not seem like that. There are several vestiges of Extinction all around here and while the rest of the damage is being slowly recovered by the universe, those areas that were affected by Extinction are not. The reason for such is quite simple but I believe that Miranda is ignorant of such fact. Hmm, maybe she simply didn’t think about it? Either way, I have to do something about them as otherwise the universe will be wasting its energy in trying to recover the damage dealt in those areas. Though I can’t deny the massive difference from how this area looks when it’s intact and the state of what it’s right now.

She’s correct in thinking in such a manner.

This second area is quite different from the first area. In a sense this could be expected but thanks to the colours alone the difference is far too noticeable. Indeed, there is a yellowish colour that is painting this entire area, not even the shadows themselves seem to be able to escape such painting. Although in this case, it’s only noticeable in the edges. The “sun” present here is something akin to sun rise, a mere fabrication of such of course and one that is never changing meaning that, compared to roughly an hour ago to now, the position of this artificial sun has yet to be different. But thanks to this, it creates something that is called as the golden hour. However, while this “sun” is swallowing the colours of the environment with its yellowish colour, several types of floral already have by default such colours, ones that resemble the colour scheme of autumn. Yes, some trees, bushes and even grass itself, are coloured in a strong yellow while others have a mix between orange and brown, cantaloupe like colour. Though, not all of the flora is with these colours, quite a good part of it still has those vibrant green colours to them. The flowers, on the other hand, have different colours depending on what areas they are in. In the areas where the green is most prevalent, the flowers have colours that mix well with it while in the other case, their colours change to ones that mix well with the yellow and the cantaloupe like colour. The rest of the environment also follows the same art but one will leave that for the Hero to describe.

The Empress “mentioned” that the universe is recovering the damage that was done to this area and this phenomenon can be seen even by the naked eye. In those areas from what seems to be from the sky itself, a few magical particles gently fall down towards it, slowly reconstructing what was destroyed. It’s something akin to when snow falls but, in this case, rather than being white they are with a golden colour, one that is quite bright and because of it noticeable. This process of recovering is for the slow side but in the areas where Extinction is present, said recovery does not happen at all, it’s more than evident that the Extinction element present there extinguishes those magic particles, causing this inconvenience. One that took the girl a little while to notice.

“Hmm, why are there some areas where they don’t seem to be recovering to their natural state?”

“That’s because you used Extinction and then didn’t clean afterwards.”

Well, my explanation should have been more than good enough to give her an idea of what’s happening but, I sure didn’t expect this reaction from her. I mean, it seems like I told her something mind breaking or whatever. There’s no need for that over reaction but it seems I will have to explain myself further. Though, as I just said, the Extinction magic present in those areas is currently using the magical particles of the universe to fuel itself, making it then extinguish anything near them. It’s an endless cycle as the moment it’s moments from disappearing, a magical particle with recovery properties, recovers the Extinction element present there, allowing for this cycle to repeat itself over and over until the universe itself has no more energy to cause this. It’s quite fascinating what Extinction can do as the opposite of what my Void powers can do, this element was created with the sole purpose of decimating anything and everything on its path but to accomplish it even further, while it’s doing so, it has an “absorption” property to it so that I can go endlessly or at the very least, accomplish what it needs to do. But, enough of this, I could go on for the entire day exploring all the possibilities and properties of Extinction but at this moment, what I simply need to do is to remove them by forcefully making them use all of the magic stored in them.

Without saying anything else, the Empress walks up to the middle of the area, exactly the starting point of the “line” that was created when the girl used the Extinction spell to decimate the Defect Lord. This area is of course the one that suffered the most but the damage dealt around it, it’s also the one where the element Extinction is present. From here, a gentle magical aura surrounds the Empress, one that is mainly coloured with a golden colour, one that in this case, it’s quite soft and bright. Her magic energy levels are quite high but not enough to cause the end of the world or in other terms, it’s roughly at S+ rank. From the magic aura, several paths of magic are created, ones that are aimed at every area where the Extinction is present and as expected, the entirety of the “line” is being covered by her magic. This is exactly why she decided to walk up to this area and why she’s facing directly said “line”. Once everything is covered by her magic, she raises her right arm upwards, until her slender and pale hand are at head level and once done, as elegantly as she possibly could do, she snaps her finger and with it, the Extinction is gone.

While what she did is simple to herself, the girl on the other hand, she’s quite amazed at what her Empress just did.
