046: Zion

The moon hung above the sky, its light shining down on an eerie forest, within the forest, the swarm lazily marched about. A sight that would have brought terror to anyone who laid their eyes on it.

Red light shining from masses of fleshy eyeballs and masses of flesh that stuck to trees, they lazily observing the world around them like predator awaiting it's prey.

Sirens hung off trees as their head would snap to the side from time to time as they listened in on anything that drew their attention. It was a cacophony of madness all around.

Suddenly the peace of the night was broken as an invisible wave rippled through the air. Swarms of various castes roaring into the night as they sensed an awakening of their own.

They howled and roared yet none approached the area in which the aura emanated from, as if a force held them from doing so.

The "celebration " was brought to a sudden halt when a man manifested into the eerie forest, he wore a grey attire with a kaftan around his shoulders, both ends bearing two different colours.

"Huh, not where I was planning on landing" he muttered as he observed his landing spot sounding mildly annoyed.

The swarm sensing the human who had just delivered himself on a silver platter didn't waste a heartbeat as in a flash the swarm like a tide of the sea all rushed at him. Their number almost blotting out the shine of the moon on the man.

Their speed so fast seemingly leaving the man frozen in place about to he ripped to pieces without time to react.

"Will you sit your asses down" the man who was just frozen in place casually raised his head as he commanded in an almost lazy time. His eyes turning a different shade as just like his clothing bore two different colors for a moment.

The effect was immediate— the gravity around him seemed to increase as the creatures which swarmed him a moment ago slammed into the ground causing a minor rumble, a plume of dust shooting into the air.

"Na wa o, someone can't even take a step outside without being attacked by people with zero impulse control these days," he complained as he waved his hand once, clearing the dust while coughing lightly.

Around him, the swarm was all pressed against the ground, their bones cracking as they dug deeper into the earth, not a single creature able to even look at the man.

Seeing the nuisance around him had been quelled he nodded to himself as he turned and began heading to where his destination had been, every step he took seemed to increase the gravity around him and the pressure on the swarm as they dug deeper into the ground smashing their bones.

A small stroll later he was in front of a massive hole in the ground on an open clearing. It looked like a huge tree had been uprooted from within the ground in its entirety and the hole dug deeper for whatever purpose it was being used for.

Within it he sensed the source of the aura and light that excited the swarm earlier, after observing it for a few seconds he nodded before walking forward and "fell" through the hole.

The fall lasted 30 seconds before he landed on solid ground, the moment his legs touched the ground he crouched a little as he grunted lightly.

"God I'm really getting old" he joked as proceeded to stretch"so, Keresha, you mind telling me why you're within my sector?" He asked his jovial tone disappearing a little as he didn't even turn to look at who he was addressing, rather he kept his eyes on the swarm that had just about completing it's awakening.

"As you can see human, I had to come see the awakening of my kin, he's the first to awaken on this dirt-ball afterall." A female voice replied sounding rather annoyed than amused." Though I must ask, since when do I have to take your permission for anything human?" She asked, her tone now going from mildly annoyed to immediately hostile.

The man paused his stretch routine he was undergoing, he paused temporarily and turned to look at the "person" he was talking to, a wide smile spreading across his face even as the temperature within the space dropped visibly.

"You seem to think I'm defenceless given the body I'm in at the-" his words were cut short as the next instant the swarm who was seated cross legged and going through awakening disappeared from his position and appeared next to the man, hand raised, clawed fingers spread and bringing it down at an absurd speed that broke the sound barrier.

Yet the blow never landed, rather the creature stood frozen in place."stupid child" muttered Keresha seeing how impulsive the newborn was.

The man turned his head upwards to observe the newly awakened swarm... No, it was no longer just a swarm.

It's once split open head made of fungi and flesh was now meshed together into beauty golden hair, skin shining bronze, a face that despite looking male could only be described as beautiful.

He was about 7ft tall, a golden four pointed halo about 12 diameter hanging just between his shoulder and head, four elongated tentacles draped over his shoulder akin to a cape. The rest of him was a tall lean naked male body, weirdly elongated limbs that made his appearance of looking human quickly fall apart.

"Wow, not bad for a newborn Zion" he commented as he observed the "person" in front of him. Turning away from the frozen newborn he placed his hands behind him and began walking towards Keresha.

"Are you planning on killing him" she asked as she took a guarded stance.

"Relax, I have no intent. What I came for is to make sure the newborn doesn't ruin my plans. I have an experiment to run afterall" he explained as he stood a few feet away from her hands still behind his back.

"But I'll like to make it known you are not allowed show up in my sector ever again" he concluded looking at her.

  " I don't like your tone human"

" Me neither but here we are" he replied spreading his hands out. " Again I'll like to make sure my deal with the Zion still holds" he inquired.

"... So long as you do not kill the newborn our deal still holds" she finally spoke after a long stretch of silence.

"Good, though I can't promise he won't be killed by another human" he smiled as he turned walking away once again disappearing mid step as if he was never there to begin with.

"Hmph! If he died to a regular human then he was never meant to be one of us to begin with" she replied with a snarl and turned to the frozen newborn, a few seconds later as if a play button was played on a paused video he swiped down.

After landing his attack on empty air and leaving a deep slash gash in the earth he turned looking confused.

"That was stupid of you" she told the newborn. " That aside what would you like to he called" she asked him.

"I... Don't know" replied the newborn, still a little confused on what just transpired.

" Well, a name will come to you soon, don't disappoint me. I'll be keeping an eye on you" with that she basically disappeared immediately from his view.

There was a long silence after he was left alone. The newborn stood as he observed himself, he looked up above and realised he was right below the hole, the lights of the moon shining down on him through the hole.

"So, this is what it means to be awakened huh? It's... It feels amazing"
