New Moon 14 : Talent And Taboo

"Mr Eda, forgive me for keeping you waiting."

The voice of the angel of a woman who is coming in tow with Lady Jasmine from the door of the cozy chamber not far from Masa Ed that just closed, gained his attention.

Sitting on a recliner chair with a table in front of him, Masa Ed watched as the angel of a woman walked to the other side of the table, sitting on a chair in front of it—one directly opposite him.

As one of the torches of smokeless flame at the four corners of the chamber which is smaller than the previous one where he first met them flickers, Masa Ed looked to his left, catching sight of Lady Jasmine who is leaning her buttocks against the edge of the table, sitting partly on it and very close to him.

"How is your eyes?" She inquired. Her gaze on his eyes. Meanwhile, she made a hand gesture that caused the green water bubble glued to his eyebrows to dissipate before a new one took their place.

Masa Ed nodded. "They only itch a bit."

  "Mr Eda, have a look."

The voice of the angel of a woman got his attention. He turned to look at her, and on her hand is a paper he then collected.

His eyes narrowed. He reoriented the paper. Looking at it intently, he read its quiet lengthy content—a summary of his mortal biography—after which he passed it back to her.

"Are they exact? Is there anything missing?" The angel of a woman inquired as she collected the paper from him.

  He fuppled. "I think so."

The thought they might indeed have a detail of his daily life from when he was young to a time prior the supernatural incident amused him, considering there was a time he decided to lay low—hiding his knowledge and capabilities after he discovered people of his kind are one in a million.

"The information you guys have on me should be more exact, why ask me?" He added, probing her to get more information on how much exactly they know about him.

The angel of a woman smiled at him. "It doesn't matter, does it? You are now part of us."

"I guess so," Masa Ed replied casually. Thinking of it, his unique mortal past doesn't really matter much anyways; without knowing and without asking for it, he has been thrust into a place he has always been running from—a place of meaningless struggle—the reason he has been in hiding, so what's left to hide when he's been caught.

"Your conditions?" The angel of a woman said softly. "State them."

"I thought you were not going to mention it?" He looked at her eyes before he leaned forward, placing his hands he folded on the table.

"First thing first," he continued. "In matters related to my safety, I want to be in charge, or whoever is in charge must listen to me, including you, the director."

"Okay deal." The angel of a woman smiled.

"Uh!" Masa Ed blurted, he gaped at her in silence. He didn't expect her to agree right away without hesitation.

"Yes, I agree; you can take the lead whenever you want. Is that not what you want?" The angel of a woman reiterated. She briefly glanced at Lady Jasmine, catching sight of her back turned to her, specifically her very long black hair of gentle wave.

"Okay," Masa Ed concluded. "The next is um, we are still on my safety, I want the right to select where I go. Like a mission for example, I want the power to refuse a mission that endangers my safety."

"Mr Eda, that's not possible." The angel of a woman shook her head.

  Masa Ed frowned. "Why?"

"Every corner of the spiritual world is fraught with dangers, unless you are the king of the spiritual world, no where is safe. So, every mission, even the simplest one can be life threatening." The angel of a woman explained. "Your request is automatically invalid, Mr Eda. There is no concept of safe task or unsafe task in the spiritual world, every acolytes and initiates know this."

"She is right," Lady Jasmine corroborated as Masa Ed leaned back and turned to look at her. It was like she answered his question she rightly predicted. "Safety as never been a guarantee in any of the three worlds. Moreso the mortal world where whims dominate, you of all people should know every mortal depends on luck for survival."

"That's kind of true." Masa Ed agreed with a nod. Moving on, he leaned forward, hands folded placed on the table, his face closer to the smiling angel of a woman. He continued, "what I'm actually saying is this; whenever I deem a mission unreasonable or unusually difficult, I want the right to reject it. And if its after I agreed to it that I discovered its a stupid mission, I also want the right to forfeit it. You get it?"

"Mr Eda, your other conditions." The angel of a woman smiled.

"You know you are a bitch?" Masa Ed squeezed his face in contempt, looking disgusted as he frowned at her obvious attempt to deflect his request. "Yes or no? Will you give me the right to choose what operation in your organization, I get myself involved with?"

"Sigh... Mr Eda, I alone can't give you the right," she replied with a soft tone and a shameless smile. "The elder council have an authority equal to mine. Unless you convince them, there is nothing I can do to guarantee you this condition. I am being honest with you."

"Being honest my arse. You are obviously up to something, bitch." Masa Ed voiced out with derision after his dark brown eyes set on the angel of a woman's eyes briefly glow golden due to the activation of his inner eyes that showed him the woman's change in vibrational color, hence how he was able to know her words were dishonest.

"Rasa, your seed. Was it talent or taboo?" Lady Jasmine chimed in.

"Its a taboo. I can't kill," Masa Ed replied with a frown. He leaned away from the angel of a woman who frowned deeply at his words, and he reclined on the wooden chair backrest.

"What exactly is the talent and taboo about?" He questioned. His eyes held Lady Jasmine veiled face for a few seconds before she replied.

"Taboo is a result of low compatibility with ingested seeds," she explained. "If your compatibility with a seed is low, you will most likely inherit a taboo, a weight that will slow down your journey. But on the other hand, if the compatibility is very high... you will most likely inherit a talent, a boost that will accelerate your spiritual journey."

"So, I am unlucky," Masa Ed chimed in as he moved into an upright sitting position by leaning away from the chair backrest.

"Restraint on killing is not exactly bad luck, Mr Eda," The angel of a woman argued; she looked away from Masa Ed. "As long as you become powerful and rule over the spiritual world, no one will dare cross you and you automatically don't have to kill."

Power and Rule? Masa Ed rolled his eyes at the angel of a woman, sparing her a contemptuous glance.

"I can't kill does not mean I can't kill," he smiled. "There are many ways to eliminate someone without lifting a finger, have you heard of plotting someone to death before?"

"What's that?" Lady Jasmine questioned him, and gaining his visual attention, she turned around and sat on a chair that manifested very close to him from thin air, stunning him greatly, after which she took his left arm in hers, caressing it.

No energy fluctuation, how? Masa Ed frowned; he wondered how she pulled off her spiritual trick that doesn't align with what he has concluded about spiritual mechanisms after his initiation that made him sensitive to ether energy that permeates all of space—the void energy, hence his little foundational knowledge on how energy and matter interacts in the spiritual world.

"How do you do that?" He turned to look at her eyes that stare back at his. "I didn't sense any etheric disturbance, where is the chair from?"

"Mr Eda, I will advise you to cease asking," the angel of a woman warned, gaining his visual attention. "A witch secret is not to be learned. Its dangerous."

"Oh!" He exclaimed. "So, she is a witch." He glanced at her.

"Yes, they are a high ranking witch," the angel of a woman replied. "They are contracted to our tower, they are our guest healer. Mr Eda, please lets finish your registration."

"Okay, what's next?" Masa Ed focused his gaze on her. While waiting for her to sort out whatever on the paper in front of her, he switched to his inner eyes and start scanning the room with it. And in his unique field of vision rendered by it, he saw the angel of a woman rendered as a silhouette of bright golden light against a black background, and behind her, he saw three human silhouette of dull gray color against a black background, two facing each other like they are having a conversation, and the third, a feminine one, looking to be pacing up and down.

"They are disembodied spirits," Lady Jasmine informed him, her tone soft and her voice seeming like a whisper close to his ears. "Young girl Meggie let them stay. They are both former squad captain of golden lantern."

"I see." He nodded. Curious, he turned his face to the left, trying to bring Lady Jasmine into his inner eyes unique field of vision, an attempt to analyze her spirit and essence; however, no matter how he look, it was a black background devoid of color that he saw; it was as if Lady Jasmine in physical is not in front of him, which is not true; he can feel her breath and presence close by.

"Unless you can comprehend darkness, you wouldn't be able to define my spirit."
