Chapter 36: The Z-Swords Proper Use

Kibito's Instant Transmission brought them to King Kai's Planet. The sealed egg came too.

Gohan looked around. "This is King Kai's Planet? Seems... ordinary."

"Hmph! A mere mortal wouldn't understand King Kai's Planet!"

  Kibito's pride flared.

"Gohan, this planet's reinforced with divine power. Even full-power battles won't destroy it easily."

  "Really? That's perfect!"

This Gohan—unlike the main timeline's scholar version—craved battle. Saiyan blood ignited.

Trunks eyed the cracked egg. "Supreme Kai, we're leaving it here?"

Shin nodded. "I can sense anything on this planet. Few can enter. It's safe. Now—let's pull the sword."

They flew to a mountain peak. A blade jutted from stone.

  "This sword—"

"The Z-Sword. No one's ever pulled it. Not even previous Supreme Kais. Legend says whoever draws it gains immense power."

Gohan smirked. "Pulling a sword from stone? Why does this sound familiar?"

"Oh! Like King Arthur, right? The legend where Arthur—dressed as a man—pulled the sword and became Britain's king—"

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

  "Trunks, you're confused. Arthur wasn't a girl."

"But Gohan-bro, in the game I played—"

Perilla coughed. "Stop debating Arthur's gender. Pull the sword."

  "Right!"

Gohan gripped the hilt. Pulled. Normal form—nothing. Not a millimeter.

Kibito grinned. "Don't waste your strength. Previous Supreme Kais failed. Mortals have no chance."

"Even the Supreme Kai of Time couldn't pull it?"

  Trunks asked.

  Kibito froze. Did she try?

Perilla answered. "The Supreme Kai of Time is already powerful. She doesn't need it. Her job's maintaining the multiverse—no time for sword-pulling."

Truth is, she avoided it because the Old Kai sealed inside is a pervert like Master Roshi. He harassed her. She used time powers to block him, but stayed angry. So she left him sealed. Petty? Maybe.

  "I see..."

  Kibito looked embarrassed.

"Gohan, try as a Super Saiyan!"

  "Okay!"

Golden hair flared. Kibito shook his head. "Super Saiyan won't—"

  The sword moved.

  Gohan roared. Pulled it free.

Kibito's jaw dropped. "Impossible! A mortal actually—"

Shin clenched his fist. "I knew it! Gohan, how do you feel?"

Gohan swung the blade. "This is supposed to grant power? I don't feel anything."

  "What?! That can't be right!"

"Mortal, you dare insult our sacred relic?!"

  Kibito bristled.

  "Here. You try."

  Gohan tossed it. Kibito caught—

  CLANG.

The sword hit the ground. Kibito couldn't lift it. Not even with both hands.

  Awkward silence.

"Ahem! The Z-Sword is sacred! Only those it recognizes can wield it! It's not because I—"

Trunks picked it up. Swung it clumsily. "Gohan-bro's right. Heavy. No power boost."

  Kibito said nothing.

"No, no! You're not using it correctly. Give it here!"

Perilla caught the sword. Her mastered base form made it easier to wield.

"Miss Perilla, you know the proper method?"

"Of course. There's only one way to use the Z-Sword."

She held it horizontally. Palm underneath.

  Then—SNAP.

  Broke it over her knee.

"NO! You broke the sacred sword!"

"Wait—if it's legendary, how did it break so easily?"

  Shin stared.

Perilla tossed the pieces. Looked past them. "I broke it for a reason. Old man, explain yourself."

  "Old man?"

An aged voice answered. "Finally! Seventy-five million years! These old bones see daylight again!"
