Chapter 7 Introduction to Abilities and Powers

  # **Chapter 7: Introduction to Powers

**Present Time — D and His Wife Talking**

Wife: *“So… when did you first realize they had powers beyond just telepathy?”*

D: “Hmm… that takes me back. I had a choice to make. A scary one.”

  Wife: “Scary? Why?”

D: *sighs softly* “Because before teaching them control, I had to understand what abilities they actually had. And as a father… that decision felt like walking on a knife’s edge.”

Wife: “You were afraid you might hurt them?”

  D: “Afraid? I was terrified. Constantly wondering…

**‘What’s worse? Me accidentally killing them… or them dying because I never taught them?’**

  That thought haunted me.”

Wife: *touching his hand* “But you still made the right call.”

D: “I had to. For their safety.”

  ---

  # **D’s Narration of the Past Begins**

D: “At that time, the only ability they had shown was telepathy. So I told myself, *start small*. Start with basics.”

  ---

  ## **Teaching Telepathy**

  **D (narrating):**

“So one day, I sat beside them and thought…”

  D (in past, speaking telepathically):

**‘Alright kids, I hope you can hear me. And I hope you can understand.’**

Wife (in present): *chuckles* “And they understood, didn’t they?”

D: “Oh, they did. Better than I expected.”

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

  **Past Scene**

D: “What I was trying to test was whether the connection was one-way or two-way.”

Vince (baby voice, but clear): *‘Papa… hear?’*

D (in past): “Yes! Yes, I can hear you.”

  Val: *‘Papa talk big-big words.’*

D (present chuckles): “See? They were extremely smart. Their comprehension was unbelievable.”

Wife: “Which also meant their nights were… difficult?”

  ---

  ## **Psychic Planes at Night**

  D: “Very.”

  **Past Scene**

*Babies cry silently — not out loud, but in psychic echoes.*

  Val (telepathically crying): *‘Papa… dark… empty…’*

D (picking her up): “It’s okay, sweetheart. It’s just a dream. I’m here.”

  Vince: *‘Papa scared?’*

  D: “No, buddy. I’m not scared. I’m just… worried.”

  **Present**

Wife: “I remember those nights. They never cried out loud. Only you could hear them.”

D: “Yeah. Their minds were wandering into psychic planes. Safe, but empty. And they were too young to understand.”

  ---

  ## **Teaching Them to Speak**

  D (narrating):

“So the next thing I taught them was speech. Real speech.”

  **Past Scene**

D: “Alright, you two. Let’s try this. Say ‘Papa.’”

  Vince (perfect pronunciation): “Papa.”

  Val: “Papa.”

D (surprised): “Okay… wow. That was fast.”

  Val: “Next word.”

D: “You two… are going to be trouble.”

  **Present**

Wife: “Two days. That’s all they took to talk properly.”

D: “Two days! And by the fifth day they were speaking like mini scholars. Limited vocabulary… but crystal clear.”

  ---

  ## **Keeping Them Quiet Around Neighbors**

D: “But I didn’t want the neighbors to freak out.”

  **Past Scene**

D: “Kids, outside the house, no speaking out loud, okay? Talk to Papa using thoughts only.”

  Vince: *‘Okay Papa.’*

  Val: *‘Good plan.’*

D: *“Good plan?”, this girl was barely 3 months old.*

  **Present**

Wife: *laughs* “She still says ‘good plan’ before doing something dangerous.”

  D: “Exactly.”

  ---

  ## **Their Thoughts Become Too Loud**

D: “As they grew, their thoughts got stronger. It became impossible to concentrate.”

  **Past Scene**

Val: *‘Papa why sky blue? Why sun hot? Why bird fly? Why people shout?’*

Vince: *‘Papa what is ethics? Why people lie? Why money paper?’*

D: “STOP—one at a time! My brain is not a question machine!”

Val: *‘Okay Papa. Your brain small?’*

  D: “HEY!”

  **Present**

Wife: *laughing uncontrollably* “Did she actually say that?!”

D: “Yes. She roasted me when she was six months old.”

  ---

  ## **Teaching Them Through Books**

  D:

“So to distract them, I introduced reading. Not picture books. Real books.”

  **Past Scene**

Val (turning pages): “This book boring.”

Vince: “This one good. Talks about atoms.”

D: “You both are one year old… why are you reading atom theory?”

  Val: “Because you give.”

  D: “Touché.”

  **Present**

Wife: “And then the questions increased.”

  D: “Like you wouldn’t believe.”

  ---

  ## **The Road Incident**

Wife (quietly): “And then… Val ran into the road.”

D: “Yeah. That day still gives me chills.”

  **Past Scene**

  Val (excited): “Running is fun!”

  D: “Val! Wait—don’t go outside!”

*She runs toward the road. A car rushes past.*

  **THUD**

Neighbor: “Oh my god! The child—someone help!”

  *D rushes out, heart racing.*

  D: “VAL!”

*Blood on the road. A still little body.*

Then suddenly… right before their eyes…

  Her skin closes.

  Her bones reset.

  Her wounds vanish.

  Val (slowly waking): “Papa?”

  Everyone around freezes in terror.

  **Present**

Wife: “I still remember you running inside with her.”

D: “I had no choice. The neighbors had seen too much.”

  ---

  ## **Erasing the Memory**

  **Past Scene**

D (telepathically): “Kids… you need to help Papa. Use your telekinesis.”

  Vince: *‘Erase?’*

D: “Yes. Make them forget what they saw.”

  Val: *‘Okay Papa.’*

*Waves of psychic energy ripple outward. Neighbors blink, confused.*

  Ne

ighbor: “Wait… why are we outside?”

D: “You must’ve stepped out for fresh air.”

  Neighbor: “Oh… right.”

  **Present**

Wife: “That was the day everything changed.”

D: “Yes. That was the day our journey into powers truly began.”
