The Battle of Love and Hate

I wear my hate like a mask, smothering my emotions from society that hangs me for my sins.

It is a thing that strikes laughter within people, thinking it is all a soap opera they can bawl their eyes out to and forget about.

Sometimes you have to wonder, what happens to the people left behind? What happens to the people who give up halfway through the most dangerous climb in history?

They become the land markers of what not to do. They become the let-downs of society, never uttered or spoken about.

  Why?

Most people would say they are attention seekers.

  Why?

Because students, employees, citizens, the world, and the universe believe in a backbone, a law, that is held together with duct tape and a layer of glue.

  That rule?

  Only focus on the positives.

  Why?

Because no one survives if they only focus on the negatives.

But what if this law is a lie?

What if those who see the negatives are right?

What if those who see the negatives see things as they are?

As a society, we always forget the middle of the process. The actual process. We just witness the before and after giving our plaudits as the victims still struggle.

Hate is a thing that smothers those who actually feel compassion for people. Hate is a thing that makes us envious of one another. Hate is a thing that damages and pierces into our soul like Cupid's arrow.

You have been marked and targeted for all the wrong reasons.

You were never extraordinarily unique or different.

You were always the same. You were always made of the same skin and bones, the same blood and guts, the same veins and lungs and eyes and habits and love and hate and everything in our society. You were never just hate. You were never just a let-down. You were our society.

And now you wear a mask to hide it all. To mask your face from those who find joy in your expressions. Good and bad. They all let you down.

So, you will never let them find pleasure in knowing that you were expecting more.

You will never let them see you as yourself, because they will always hurt you.

Even if love will always be stronger than hate, there will always be hate in the world, and sometimes it can leave more marks than love ever can.
